I think there's a flaw in my code

She didn't like this place. She'd never been able to find the falls, and didn't trust the rest of the landscape. It had always been quite empty, leading her to think it wasn't a place for a wolf. Especially a pack of all things. But, there was one around here some where making her wonder what kind of wolves wanted to live here. But right now she was doing her best to avoid their trails, and had no want to reach their territory. After all they seemed to keep to themselves, and so did the Bend. Lila was only here hoping to end the life of a caribou.

It had a twisted leg that had long been broken and healed. But, it was't what had caught her attention. It had a terrible cough that had alerted her to its location, and once she'd laid eyes on it she felt like she might have a chance to end its miserable life. It was alone, scrawny, hornless, and moved slower than her grandmother. Or so she believed by what she'd been told. None the less a perfect target if she could just  figure out what way it'd meandered off to.

hunting/tracking dem 1/3

Cancer was on the trail of the same. He didn't normally seek big game, certainly not a wolf to put himself in any kind of unnecessary danger, but this thing was far too pathetic to pass up. If he didn't hunt it, the thing was likely to drop dead on its own and be scavenged by crows in the next few days anyways. Besides, if he stocked the caches with this, he wouldn't have to work for a while. Could take some time off to... uh. Do something. He'd figure it out.

Before he could close in, however, he picked up on the presence of the other wolf, one that smelled of others but not his home. He wondered briefly how possessive Askan and Reyes might be of the prey around their territory, what they might expect him to do in this situation. Oh well. They weren't here, so he'd do this his way. And that meant completely ignoring the other wolf until they made themself a problem.

Head low, he kept on after the pitiful beast. His pace picked up as he caught a glimpse of it through the trees.

It didn't take her long. She only had to stand still a little longer to hear its off beat, kerthunking gait. Why it would be easy to catch up, it didn't need to go hurrying off again so she took her time sneaking to it. This far out she knew she was already pushing her luck.

As luck, whatever fickle thing it was, would have it she was not the only one with her eyes on it. Was he a loner or a strange resident? Did it matter? Decisions, decisions. If she could go a day in her life without making one... Being her mother's daughter she didn't' fret. She knew what she could do. What might work, and what she would do if it didn't. She waited as the caribou plodded forward, and then peeled herself to the side of a bush to stop the other hunter. "Want some help? You could keep most of it." She'd known all along she couldn't exactly take it back to the Bend. They were quite similar in stature so she didn't think they'd have a problem making quick work.

Of course the hope that the other wolf wouldn't interact with him at all, perhaps even smell the pack on him and simply give up, was a ridiculous one to hold onto. Cancer bristled as he sensed the other drawing closer, but at least the woman that appeared didn't immediately come off as some kind of yappy little socialite. In fact, she proposed a pretty reasonable deal. Long as she wasn't planning on pulling something fast, they could finish this quickly and he'd still come out the other side better off.

So he merely nodded to her in approval before setting back into motion. As poor a state as the beast was in, they wouldn't need some grandly calculated plan to put it out of its misery. Simple instinct would do. Cancer rounded one of the caribou's sides, trusting the woman to position herself appropriately in a complementary fashion, and when the timing was right, he lashed out.

His teeth went for that hobbled leg, to bite and twist and bring back the pain of the original injury. Hopefully he could even down it, giving the dark woman a chance to suffocate or bleed it out.

She was pleased he didn't find the need to chase her away, talk her out of the idea or even utter a single word. With a thin smile of their agreement the plan moved forward.

Most hunt were pack oriented, but this was different. With a new wave of adrenaline, she eased to the other side just in time as the fellow made his first attack. Going for the weakest spot. The poor old thing seemed to struggle to stand or fight. With the caribou's attention diverted, she struck at the neck. The first bite wasn't as deep as she'd like, and she had to withdraw. She'd gotten the taste of blood, and was ready for another. This time, she hung back, calculating as it tried to remain standing. Just a little push, she thought. Driving forward, with her lips raised, she sprang forward again, digging her teeth in further, and jerking against the thick muscle of its neck. It began to writhe beneath her, dipping its head, attempting to raise its hooves. They were all feeble attempts.
