It was so hot outside. She was melting, she was sure of it. Her arctic heritage had given her a soft, downy coat, but it was also thick. Even with her summer coat being thin, it was still thicker than others. Nature didn’t seem to realize that she didn’t need to protect herself from the cold just yet.
Because of the heat, she spent quite a bit of her time wading in the shallows of the lake in the area that Elias had led her to weeks ago. It was a great place to take a dip then sit in the shade and, because it wasn’t too horribly far from the den, she could still hear if anyone called for her. The girl laid on her side beneath a young cedar, a baby like her among the giants that surrounded them. Her puppy blue gaze stared up at the sky, watching the clouds break then come back together idly. She wished she could do something like her parents.
