Cancer

That he was suddenly addressed directly surprised him, and made him all the more uncomfortable. Askan's eyes had kept wandering to him, but that was expected what with him being present and all. Cancer thought maybe even he was being watched incase he decided to lash out--that seemed to be a common thing, wolves expecting far more anger and much less sulking than Cancer ever really gave. But no, the Edge lead spoke casually, like he was trying to make small talk with someone he was stuck waiting with.

Was that possible, to talk like it didn't really go down as explosively as it had, pretend he wasn't still hurt and that he was a wolf who didn't hold onto shit like this? Cancer didn't know as he shifted his weight awkwardly, staring back at the other man, uncertain of how he wanted to react. So as usual, he simply went with the first thing that came to mind.

"Thanks, I guess. Was nice not to be completely shit on."

He had, after all, expected Askan to tell Peter to fuck off as well and chase him and Ris out.

Adelayde came and Laike left, then some total stranger popped in. Cancer began to inch backward; he was feeling too crowded, there was really no use for him now that it was certain the occasion was amiable, and really what more could Askan have to say to him?

Askan Selwyn

This was the most that Askan could do. He couldn't find it in himself to apologise, nor was he going to even think about grovelling. What was done was done. Like Cancer, Askan didn't know what to think of the conveyor belt of visitors. Adelayde- he got, sort of. But this random guy? Askan rose a brow as he shot the stranger a curt, if not disinterested look. He was tempted to snap and say that it was none of his business, that he wasn't there for him, but even Askan realised that was a rather rude. He could talk as he pleased within his own territory, but when he was playing diplomat he had to try and have a little more tact. As hard as it was.

Man, he was a brown nose though, wasn't he? Licking at Adelayde's chin like she was the Queen Bee around here. His brows pinched together as he felt a little insulted on Jessie's behalf. As far as he was aware, the Tainn still ruled the roost. Was Adelayde looking to take the seat beside Laike, or was Askan reading too deeply into this? Maybe he would have to ask Jessie, if they happened to cross paths.

"Everything's fine." He rumbled, not really wanting to repeat himself too much. "You look....have you put on weight?" It certainly seemed so.

Was that a rude thing to say? Probably. Askan didn't care though, she should have been used to his ways by now. They'd known one another long enough. With a shrug, he rolled his shoulders. This wasn't going too awfully.

Her smile visibly faltered when Laike began to dismiss himself from the group when she settled at his side. However, he was quick to return his own show of support by the touch of his shoulder upon her side. Knowing her husband was certainly returning to their mischievous children, her smile couldn't falter much with how much he showed how devoted he was to their little family they created together. Every action warmed her heart.

Cancer was further away from the group as if he was unsure whether or not he intended to fully join them. She wasn't away of the tension between him and their visitor or the words that passed between them before she arrived. Adelayde gave the dark Rye man a reassuring smile either way. Opening her maw to attempt to catch up with her old friend, she was interrupted by the onslaught of their resident Alvar.

His unwavering presence was reassuring the fact that he was loyal to the Rye for the time. However, once Adelayde held a grudge against someone, it was hard to erase it. Ade still felt sour about the man's words about Lachesis, but day by day with his loyalty to the Rye it lessened slightly. He was proving himself, but perhaps that would never be enough for the Rye beta.

Refusing to let her eyes visibly roll, instead she forced her slight grimace off her face and replaced it with a slight smile as she faced the healer. This is Askan, leader and ally of Shadow Edge. He was a founding member of the Rye years ago when it was first created. He is to be treated with the utmost respect during his visit.

As he was finally able to answer her question, she was relieved to know the Edge wasn't in any turmoil and this wasn't an unhappy visit for now. Ade could rarely be surprised by the dark brute these days, his blunt words a norm to her. A smile graced her lips rather than a few that could have been offended by his query. Laike and I had two cubs this spring. A girl and boy. The sunflower's expression was bright when talking about her kin, nothing else could bring her more joy. You must meet them while you are here!

Alvar Forsberg.
My deepest apologies for the late response, life kind of caught up with me, and I forgot to reply. XD Thoughts. Speech.

Alvar could see that as he asked his question, the visitor was quizzical and seemed to be unimpressed, while the other who was off to the side seemed to be terrified of his own shadow. Alvar could hear the exasperation in Adelayde's voice as she spoke to him, stating the name of the wolf that eyed him with curiosity, and his status and standing with the pack.

Alvar had been here long enough to know that he need not act like a fool in order to gain favor, so instead of groveling, he instead stood straight and bowed curtly to the leader of Shallows Edge, saying... "It is a good thing, to meet you, Askan." He turned to the one who seemed anxious and spoke once more... "And what might your name be?" He smiled as he spoke, intent of getting a response, and relaxing the mood.
