RE: Driftwood Surge, an uninvited stranger has been to your communal den!

ALL WELCOME FOR ANYONE but a special mention to @Lachesis and @Lilya or the cubs! Also, she is on the border...

A part of her wanted to turn back and hide like the coward she was, but the stronger side of her pushed onward with a faulty determination. She'd left her parents when they needed her the most, when the cubs were still growing from milk and bountiful with energy and she was sure they wouldn't want to see her now. The of rejection thought made her pause her stride, a searing  feeling of pain coursed through her when she bit her lip from nervousness, contemplating once more to turn around and disappear into the horizon. For what felt like the millionth time she reconsidered her thoughts and pushed forward, exhaling the breath she was holding with a force beyond its usual.

The land was familiar to her, even down to the scent and the yearling couldn't hold back the feeling of nostalgia that overcame her--back when times were simple. She moved closer to her fathers favorite lake with anticipation of finding him but instead she was hit with the stench of something more foreign and almost immediately she felt a overwhelming sense of fear. Something was happening and she feared for the safety of her parents and siblings--those innocent cubs.

Panicked, she made her way toward Driftwood Surge in hopes that someone familiar would greet her, specifically her mother or father but really anyone would do.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark

This thoughts never strayed far from his older children. He knew that Kyrios was still local, living the life of a nomad, and Lilliana (better known as Lil Lil) was on a grand adventure to the north with her cousin (Seven). Atropos’ whereabouts remained a mystery but Lachesis was confident she had found a place for herself. Perhaps she had managed to find the expanse of tundra that her father had once called home. Wherever she was he just hoped she was safe and happy—as well as Lavender. She had remained after her twin had departed for her journey, acting as the dutiful older sister with the arrival of her younger siblings. But it did not take long for the pale Stark to distance herself, too. She had fled without explanation and Lachesis had feared the worse. With the arrival of both the coyotes and their undesirable, annoying neighbours the ghost could not help but worry that something bad had happened to her. Again XIX liked to remain positive. Hope for the best. He had tried to follow her scent; search for her. Informed his packmates to keep an eye out for her (as well as her sister). But it was almost as though she had disappeared…

Until now.

The familiar scent caused his nose to twitch and a smile to stretch across his pale features. Without hesitation he broke into a full sprint, his long legs making ground as he tore through the mountain forest. It was only when his chartreuse gaze caught a glimpse of her pale fur against the shades of green that he slowed down. Lav! He exclaimed as he skidded to a halt, his tail sweeping behind him as he approached her. He brushed his nose against her cheek, a smile still pressed to his dark lips. He did not bombard her with questions (yet); he did not doubt that she would explain herself soon.

For the briefest of a second she found her doubt returning, encouraging her to flee and hope that her scent would not leave behind a trail to follow. She knew that her family would be okay without her; they always were. Before she could find the courage to disappear into the shadows she heard his voice, it was a mixture of excitement and surprise, and her previous feelings of doubt and worry were gone the moment her eyes met those friendly chartreuse. "Dad!" she felt the words flow from her mouth and instantly she moved toward him for a much needed embrace. It had been much too long! "I came as quickly as I could. Is everything okay?" she asked, forgetting that it was her that had disappeared on the family and he was probably more worried sick about how she was. "there is a strange scent in the air, do you smell it too?" she asked, more alarmed about the stranger that may have crossed into her fathers land. She worried that summer had crippled the security of her once strong home.

The pups were getting older and bigger as they neared 5 months of age. They’d all began their changes in some way shape or form. Leggy a pale boy dusted in earthy tones and sea-green eyes, the loss of baby fat not evident in him just yet. Makvala, well if her and Lilya stood next to each other one might not know the difference. Leith had come into his own, with a snow white pelt, muzzle tinged with black, and bright emerald eyes to tie it all together. And damn if he didn’t know he was a handsome little bugger. He strutted around with a lifted chin and a seemingly ever present grin on his face, without a care in the world. After all, the world was his oyster.

But things had been boring lately. Not much to do, not much to see. It was awful, to say the least. He felt like he was going to wither away and die from boredom. That was, in fact, the worst way to go he believed. Leith Stark would go out in only one possible way: with a bang. But, to his luck, it seemed that this day would not be the day of his demise. Strange scent mingled in the air, one wolfish and another...well he wasn’t quite sure.
The wolfish one caught his attention the best, though, so he decided to make his way toward that. Broad, muscled shoulders worked to carry him across the landscape. His tongue hung lazily out of his mouth, chest expanding and contracting with the ease of his run. Arriving at the borders, his auds perked forward to catch the conversation. The girl had called Lachesis dad, and suddenly the part of his brain that had been nagging him that the wolfish scent was familiar came to the forefront. Ah, so this was his older sister. He didn’t have any solid memories of her, just the scent memory that his olfactory kept like a well-followed journal even from his birth.

“Took ya ah bit uh time gettin’ back, didn’ it? Better have some good stories t’share,” he commented, moving to plant himself next to his father. He turned his emerald gaze to the man, wondering what he had to say about the unknown scent making itself known around their parts. Hopefully it involved some action.

He had not acknowledged the strange scent. His focus had been solely on his daughter and her unexpected (but welcomed) return. It was often that his children came back after wandering away—he just hoped that this time Lavender was here to stay. At least until she decided to forge her own path elsewhere. Is everything okay? He shrugged as he stepped away from her, his expression growing grim as he studied his mini me with a softened gaze. Sort of? He answered with a soft laugh, his brows narrowing as he examined her (briefly) for any sign of injuries. She appeared to be in good health but he wanted to be sure—especially with the infestation of coyotes in the neighbouring forests.

It did not take long for one of his children to arrive on the sign, and it did not come as a surprise to see little Lee sidling up beside him. His sharp, emerald pools landed on his older sibling as words tumbled off his tongue, filling the space between them. The ghost’s attention, however, redirected to his daughter as she mentioned the strange scent. He nodded. It doesn’t smell like coyote—any idea what it might be?

Her head turned toward the lanky figure of her brother, a near split image of their dad and immediately her heart began to race with excitement. She knew Leith would grow to be a fine young wolf, "I sure do!" she boasted with excitement, her tail lashing quick behind her. She was happy that there was no anger, no questions about her disappearing and she would not ruin this moment with one of her sob stories. She turned to Lachesis with another smile, happy that he hadn't bombarded her with questions of her whereabouts and focused instead on the strange scent that lingered--even still she couldn't quite place her paw on what it was. "I'm not sure..." she said, lowering her head to the ground to inhale the smell properly. She wondered if Leith could smell it--knowing her father could smell it too was at least a reassuring sign but there were no clues about the strange creature, not even paw prints to follow. "I was just worried maybe someone was injured, or coyotes had crippled the pack. I'm sorry I wasn't here to help protect you all." she said, finally giving up her search of whatever strange scent she had found, in this moment it seemed insignificant. "have the coyotes caused any casualties?" she wondered, hoping to hear good news.

His sister was quick to reply, excitement tingeing her words and her body as it wriggled. “Good. Ya better tell me ‘em sometime. Things ‘round here er so borin’,” he commented. He hoped the girl’s stories actually were exciting. She seemed easily amused, so smiley at his presence and perhaps even a little whimsical. If she mentioned chasing a particularly quick rabbit or something, he’d be gone before she could even finish the story.

His father was quick to ask the important questions, though it did perturb the boy that he didn’t seem to know what the scent was either. Why were they still standing there, he wondered. It was an unknown smell, and it was traveling right into their territory. As his sister seemingly brushed off the inquiry and moved into more questions, he let out a huff. “Ah don’ mean t’be ah jerk ‘er nothin’,” he did not, in fact, care if he was being a jerk, “But yer back now, and that’s great an’ everything, but ya’ll can gab an’ get caught up tonight can’t ya? Shouldn’t we be followin’ whatever this thing is? Since it’s, ya know, in our territory? he interrupted with raised brows. His words came off as he intended them to, as concern for their packmates. But, truly, he just wanted to see some action.

The older Stark cuffed the side of his son’s head (gently) with a forepaw at his comment about things being boring. Unfortunately, Leith was not wrong. Things had been awfully dull around the Surge since the arrival of the coyotes and the pack north of them. Most of the river wolves had been confined to the territory as they did not went to cross path with the vermin that had invaded the Lore. He had also been quiet about their neighbours for too long—it was something he needed to deal with soon. And likely seek the advice of his bros down south once more.

No—no one is injured, thankfully. We have some undesirable neighbours north of us. They’re more of a concern than the coyotes. He shrugged, an indifferent expression on his pale features. His chartreuse gaze fell onto his son as he spoke up once more, causing the older Stark to nod in agreement. Why don’t you and your sister follow the scent? I’ll check out the dens and circle back to meet up with you after? He took a step back, away from his children, before turning his yellow-green gaze to his daughter. There is still a place for you here, too, if you are wanting to stay.
