His mother and little brother had left. A sickness had plagued the queen of the mountain, causing her to grow week during his absence. He had cut his trip short, skipping his visit to the Scowle, due to an unsettling feeling that refused to waver from the pit of his stomach. His mother had stepped down in order to focus on her health, allowing Cheedo to take the reigns of Clearwater. Although the tawny female had been a constant in the boy’s life he did not know how to feel about her leading the pack his mother had forged. He had only chosen to stay on the mountain because his mother had stepped into the role of Alpha and was pregnant with his little brother.

But with her gone—and now Lenae, too—there was nothing left for him. He did not join her, even though he wanted to, as he was not done with the Lore yet. Piety was on the mend and he believed that some time away from the Tarn, and the coyotes of the Lore, would do good for her. Especially with Valentin at her side.

Lenae’s departure was the last straw. He couldn’t stay. He didn’t even say goodbye. He slipped away after hearing that Odin and Jenny were heading south, his gangly body descending down the mountain with ease. This time he did not take his usual route. He headed further west, into uncharted forests, and did not stop until he did not know where he was. Only then did his paws cease movement, his chest heaving as he stopped next to a bubbling brook, and his ears flattening against the back of his skull. For the first time in his short life he was truly alone and while it was a strange, undesirable feeling it was also exhilarating.

I was born in a thunder storm

Odin wasn't sure how he had been expecting Cyril to handle all the changes, he wasn't entirely sure how to take them himself. Piety stepping down was one thing, but she left and took Valentin with her, then Lenae left - which hurt his heart a little more than he'd ever openly admit, but he supported her decision to do what she needed to and was going to do his darndest to look after Nessie until she came back. He had promised Cheedo he would be back, but it was well past time his mother met her granddaughter, and he wanted to see if he could track down Cyril, just to check in... and maybe even to try and rope him into helping him handle his daughter. Truth be told he was almost too scared to blink in case she wandered off and it was all his fault she went missing.

It was slower going than he was used to, matching his stride to @Jenessa's shorter (if rapidly lenthening legs), but by matching his pace to her seemingly boundless energy they ended up covering ground far quicker than he might have otherwise expected.

These woods were familiar, the scent evoking memories of a crushing weight and insults thrown, and one of his very first offers of friendship. But he didn't need his nose to tell him what his eyes could plainly see, this forest had long since been abandoned, but there was something else here too. He caught sight of the dark body just ahead and barked out a short warning, certain as soon as his daughter caught sight of the other wolf there would probably be some sort of collison. If he was standing too close they might even end up in the water.

"And then I PEEEEED all over it, like WOOOOSH! She cheered, her tail swishing dramatically behind her like a spray of...well, pee. "He said I better not ever see him again, ha! I'll pee on him next time, you watch!

One of the many things she liked about Da was that he was more accepting of her naughty side. Whilst Ma would shake her head and gently chide her, her dad did no such thing. If anything he approved of her wild side, gave her all the encouragement she needed to push things further. Ma didn't like it when Jenny left the Tarn, but here Da was taking her out into the big wide world! He walked close by her side, letting the pup think she was leading the way, when in fact they had a destination in mind. This wasn't some mindless adventure, they were off to see family!

She waited, eagerly, to see what her Da would say but instead he barked. She followed his line of sight and...who was that? Her ears flicked forward at the sound of running water, she wasn't much of a paddler anymore but she was a little thirsty. A drink certainly wouldn't go amiss.

"Hiii!" Jenny bellowed as she thundered ahead, passing by the dark-not so strange- stranger so she could lick and lap at the waters surface. Only when she raised her head and took in the sight of the loner did she realise who it was. A big beaming grin broke out on her face. "Cyril!"

@Odin & @Jenessa sorry for late/crappy post <3

It did not take long for company to catch up. While the boy had gotten used to being on his own—hell, he preferred it—he was glad to hear Jenessa’s voice bellowing through the trees. He had never doubted that she would be safe with Odin at her side. The one-eyed Archer was a loose cannon but he had his wits about him—especially now that he had a daughter to take care of. The once troublesome youth had (surprisingly) matured and was determined to keep a watchful gaze one the wandering Selwyn. Another reason why he was pleased to see that the charcoal duo had caught up to him: Odin was going to need help keeping little Jenny in line with her itchy paws.

He turned in the direction of the pair with a faint, lop-sided smile stumbling onto his dark features. A rare picture as the boy was usually sulking or brooding… or both, at the same time. Hi Jenny, he hummed in response before turning his attention to the older male: Odin. His tail thumped softly against the ground. You’re a long way from the Tarn. Had they left the mountain, too? The smile faded from his dark maw. Was anyone left on the mountain? Or had his mother’s departure cause a ripple in the pack… first Lenae, then him… were Odin and Jenessa next to depart from the secluded mountain pack? Or were they just checking in on him?

I was born in a thunder storm

It was a struggle for the father not to laugh. There was much of her aunt Kara about his child, and it was a connection he was grateful for, though she might never encounter the connection herself if his firey sister remained in Torbine. Gods above and below she probably had spawn of her own at this point... He wasn't sure if the prospect was welcome or terrifying. "Well, if yer ever catch his stink, let me know an' I'll pee on 'im too..." after I rip out his fucking throat. The father thought to himself darkly.

His mood was instantly lifted when he realised their companion was Cyril. His own tail waved in response, a sheepish grin offered at the comment about their distance from the Tarn. "Yeah, temporarily, I figured she better meet 'er Nonna before too long. Don't suppose yer wanna tag along an' save me from m' Ma?" He was only half joking. Morganna was one of the few wolves in the lore that actually scared him, and he never could quite guess what way her mood would swing when it came to surprises, especially ones like this one.

"I will!" She cheeped, more than happy to sic her dad on that annoying, scruffy man. It was what he deserved, she hoped she'd be there to see it too how fun would it be to see her Dad in action? Probably the most fun she'd had in a while.

Leaning up, she gave Cyril a sloppy chick lick or two before she glanced back to her dad. They were talking, adult things. How fun- not! Then her dad mentioned that Cyril should tag along too, a prospect that brought a big grin to Jenny's face. Yes yes yes! The more the merrier, or so she liked to think. Besides, Cyril had been gone for a while and there was so much for them to catch up on. Where did he wander off too? Would he show Jenny one day?

She couldn't blame him for going, the Tarn was pretty boring these days. She had no one to play with anymore which meant that Jenny had to wander far and wide to find friends of her own age. Maybe the other's had it right, maybe it was time to find somewhere a little more exciting.

"Yesss. Join us join us join us join us join us!" She chanted, dipping her head along to the beat of her words.

Cyril Kael-Santoro

Cyril had no intention of returning to the Tarn. As soon as his mother, his brother, and Lenae had announced their departure from the pack Cyril knew there was nothing left for him. There was no reason for him to stay. Nothing left fighting for. He knew he couldn’t follow his mother around forever—which as part of the reason he had allowed her to leave without him tagging along. He had to forge his own path. Figure out his own life. Do whatever it was that Cyril needed to do. Because the Kael-Santoro seldom thought of himself and his own needs. Hell, he did not even know what he needed. A break, maybe. Some R&R.

… figured she better meet ‘er Nonna … He nodded. Maybe both Odin and Jenny needed a break from the mountain, too. Unless they weren’t planning on returning, either…

His yellow gaze turned to the bouncing bundle of black fur. The corners of his mouth lifted into a soft smile. Most of the time Cyril had no problem playing hard to get and not giving into the little girl’s demands. However, this time, he was not opposed to having some company. Especially since he did not have a plan of action. But the Scowle was close to the Ridge and that meant he could see Adeltra. Which was the direction he had (subconsciously) been heading in. Sure, he agreed, his yellow gaze flitting between the father and daughter, why not. He gave little Jenny a soft nudge with his nose as he encouraged the pair to lead the way. You excited to meet your grandmother?
