She was tired, all over. Not that that was anything new at all - Kip had been alone, in one way or another, for most of her life. Her whole being had been focused on nothing but survival for the past several long, long months. The coyotes were difficult to deal with, but she had managed. And aside from being too skinny - which was hard to see through her winter coat anyway - she actually looked okay. Her fur was a little dirty here and there, and her eyes were slightly duller, but she was tired.

Tired of traveling. Tired of relying on herself. Tired of being alone.

The young wolf hadn't even spoken to anyone in months. Hadn't used her voice. Hadn't had a need to.

A soft sigh pulled from her lips as she moved over to the water, leaning forward and lapping at its surface quietly. Maybe she should just head out and leave this place altogether. There was nothing left here for her, after all.

we could just stay here and drink

He was tired too. Tired of pack life, the constant reminder that he duties to do and he could only do this or that. Couldn't travel very far with the adversaries they gained with their founding. He was tired of the dramatics of pack living, as the ranks seem ever changing like the seasons. Luckily for him, he only have yearlings below him, too young to challenge for his spot. But Al wouldn't be surprised when the time came when he decided whether or not he truly cared about his ranking. To have the young guns above him was distasteful, but the effort to care about it was just as much.

However, no amount of tiredness would make him abandon his sister again. Aleister would rather suffer though this than the guilt that would gnaw at his jut if he walked out on @Neha. They both need stability and the reminder that they would never truly be alone ever again. The Vuesain siblings would always have each other.

Returning to the lake to quench the thirst that scratched at his throat, his path was blocked by another that beat him to the edge. Mismatched eyes squinted, brows furrowing as he tried to decipher why she looked so familiar. She wasn't a Surge wolf as she held no scent of them, perhaps a cast-out? No, she'd have some lingering scent at least. As his eyes inspected further, his mind came to the realization of who this could be. Her dusty coat, hiding the tell tale markings that intrigued him so many months ago. She was a little far from the mountain?

It's been a while, his gruff voice broke the silence as he stood a few lengths away from Mavis, waiting for her to quench her fill.

The little wolf jumped at the sudden voice nearby, pale fur bristling and ears pressing back. She was too used to running from coyotes and other wolves to kick that habit so quickly, and her tufted ears angled forward when she recognized the man who had spoken. Ah. She'd actually gone looking for him once after they met, hoping he hadn't been killed by the coyotes that had shown up on the peak, but it seemed she had worried for nothing. Not even any new scars.

"I see the coyotes didn't end up eating you," she remarked, voice slightly hoarse from disuse as she sat down on the bank again, shaking off the initial shock that had come with him showing up like that. Maybe they could have an actual talk now that the coyotes weren't sniffing around all over the place.

And it seemed that they had switched places from before, where he was a loner and she a pack wolf. But maybe that was for the best. It seemed that the young Kipley wolf didn't fit well into any packs - just wasn't the type of life for her.

When it became obvious that he wasn't going to chase her away - that she wasn't intruding on anyone's territory - she felt like she could relax just a bit. "Can't really see the stars that well tonight," she admitted softly. "Hasn't been all that easy to look up at them lately." But then she looked back over at his mismatched gaze that reminded her of distant planets and offered him a small smile. "How have you been lately, Aleister?"

hurtin' me now don't mean a thing

Tawny ears folded back upon his crown when he realized how much he had suddenly startled her. She looked disheveled as if she has been weathering a ceaseless storm, however, it was clear she was a survivor. Her will was hard to break. The mountain pack scent was no longer apart of her perfume, meaning she was most likely alone. The coyotes were advancing upon the Lore the last time he had come across her, making his curiosity spike. Did something happen after they were run out by the vermin?

And I see you are still intact. He mumbled deeply after her comment as a gentle smirk crossed his lips, his eyes roving over her figure noticing the thinness underneath her thickening winter coat. She survived certainly, but it didn't appear to have been easy to. Tawny ears flicked back slightly, unsure for a moment. Stepping closer, he closed the distance between him and the edge of the lake, his body still a few lengths from the ivory female. Aleister couldn't gauge whether or not she would want him close. Especially after the way she responded to his initial contact. He would let her lead the way.

It didn't take long for her to eventually relax, her shoulders visibly slumping as the tension left her body. A soft smile tugged at the edge of his lips, relieved she wasn't going to turn him away. Her mention of the stars caused his dual gaze to look up towards the sky. Overcast clouds blocked most of their view and has been for a few weeks with only a handful of clear sky nights. No, he agreed as his gaze fell back down to earth as she asked about him.

I'm alive, that's all that really matters anymore. He answered gruffly, his eyes turning to meet her ocean gaze. No longer with the mountain pack?
