Cyril Kael-Santoro
light snow. all welcome.

As the days grew colder the ebony youth remained close to the Ridge borders, acting as their unofficial bodyguard. It was not for the benefit of the Ridge wolves—truthfully, he was not interested in serving them. It was for his own personal benefit… so he could stay close to Adeltra and be there for her whenever she needed him. Life had not been easy for the pair, as they had both endured their own hardships, but throughout it all they had each other. That was all that mattered to Cyril. She was a big part as to why he had not followed his mother and brother south… he could not leave her.

Snow fell steadily from the sky, slowly blanketing the meadow. His breath hung in front of him in small clouds as he pushed through the snow-dusted grass. The snow made everything too quiet, but the Kael-Santoro preferred it. It reminded him of the mountain—barren and secluded. Although he had not spent much time atop the mountain he was the closest thing he had to a home after the devastation of Whitestone. The forest that Adeltra called home did not feel right, but the shadow boy was not ready to leave just yet. After the winter months passed through the Lore Cyril would stretch his legs once more, but for now he was content lingering near the Ridge borders. He continued to keep his distance, except when he dropped his weekly gifts to appease Sven and Ravenna, and pestered Adeltra whenever he could.

Except for today.

Today he decided to leave Adeltra to her duties and venture beyond the willows. The meadow wasn’t anything extravagant, or worthy of an adventure, but it was a nice change of scenery. Especially with the snow. He wasn’t always fond of the cold but the snow wasn’t horrible.

His paws dragged through the soft snow as he glanced around, his yellow gaze narrowing as he surveyed the winter wonderland. Not another soul to be seen. Perfect.

Ragnar Stormborn

Ragnar had always been curious about what lie beyond the borders of his home. Curious, yet cautious. After all it had not been so long after his birth, once he was mobile, that bands of coyotes infested all Relic Lore. He was no fool to loss, to pain, to death. He had been taught everything very well so by his mother, insuring he and his siblings knew well aware to be careful and to mind to borders. Injuries of his own pack mates, his leader even, let him know he was not just being told this things to keep him locked away but that real danger lie beyond.

As he aged the coyote faded away, no more a threat as they once were. No more infestation. He roamed freely along all of the Drooping willows and even a number of times through the open field of the Fireweed with his mother. Again, he watched, he listened, he waited. For Ragnar was a very patient being and with it came his knowledge and his strength.

For his patience and for his desipline, or so he assumed, he was allowed to travel much further outside the pack territory with Adeltra in order to search for his missing agemate kin. He traveled safely and smart, with his Pack's knowledge and without disappointing anyone in the process. He did not abandon them and was upset with Scully and Avella for doing so. The travel opened his eyes more to the world. Both beautiful and ugly, harsh and unpredictable. He wanted more of it, to travel it all, learn it, conquer it.

Yet he was still a boy and still very patient. So for now he only wondered southwest of his home to the meadows, another open landscape like the fields next to it. It was plain, this place. Nothing but open flat land with dots or brush and trees along the edges where the drooping willows turned to the cedarwood. Still this place was important when it was spring. Not only a good hunting ground for smaller game or even deer when they were moving through but also a place to collect various herbs. Not to mention a wonderful place to sprint out and stretch your legs. While Ragnar did not full on run he took to enjoy a brisk trot through the snows and taking in the crisp air- the smell of cedar, the distant lagoon and... Cyril? After a while he could spot the dark colored wolf easily on the white backdrop. Ragnar made a gruff and short bark out in greeting.
