Well if you wanted honesty that's all you had to say

After coming across the rude kid he’d tried his best to skirt around anywhere that smelled like wolf that he didn’t know. It had led him through a wood that was a stark contrast to the rest of the area, where gnarled and tangled trees loomed overhead and it felt silent as night. Honestly, he welcomed it. He welcomed it even more when he came to a large lake nestled into the foot of the mountain, its water so clear and vibrant that the clear winter sky above was reflected perfectly on its surface. His stomach rumbled from hunger as he looked at it, knowing the treasure trove of life and sustenance that rested just inside those waters. His family had been adept fishers and, therefore, he’d acquired those same skills. It was just whether or not he could muster up the courage to enter the freezing waters to catch himself a meal that was the issue.

(She's still a lil dazed and confused, haha)

Sága couldn't remember how exactly she got here. One moment she was running, being chased, and the next she'd found herself... well.. wherever she was now. Perhaps the Gods had misplaced her as a test? Or maybe she had been caught, and was now walking the path towards the afterlife? Either way, the Springs were gone, and the woman found herself well and truly alone.

Thirst was quick to set in, and so she let her nose guide her towards the sweet scent of water. Down the banks she moved, over the chalky surface, and oddly enough she spotted him before she caught his unfamiliar musk on the air. Soft green eyes flickered over him, knowing, yet still hoping she might somehow recognize him. Disappointment crossed over her features for only a moment before Sága chose to call out, "Hello?" Was he... here to take her to the afterlife? Was any of this even... real?

The sound of paws meandering across the chalky, snowy surface alerted him to the presence of another, his plush auds swiveling along with his head to see who was approaching. He really hoped that kid wasn’t coming back for more. But, instead of the little rascal, he found he was graced with the presence of quite the beautiful woman with the most peculiar color of eyes. It reminded him of the color of the tart apples that grew in his homeland. Those tart eyes seemed sad when they gazed upon him but her movements were sluggish and groggy. A quick intake of breath held the scent of human upon her and he knew that she had been dropped in an unfamiliar land like him.

”Hello. You alright? Whatever the humans did to us left one hell of a kick,” he said. His instinct was to move to help her, to brush up against her and protect her, but he held himself back. They didn’t know each other and he wasn’t sure how she’d react to something like that.

She spent the moments waiting for him to respond raking over his form. Average height and stature, ordinary coat. He seemed no more a God than she, though his moon-colored eyes stood out. Marked by the Gods.

Her head tilted to the side as he spoke, curiosity flashing in her soft eyes. "Yeah. I'm..." Sága's own thoughts cut her off mid-sentence, and she found herself repeating, "Humans?" The word was foreign on her tongue, though images of hairless, brightly-colored beasts spilled into her mind. Were those.. humans? She took a step closer, awaiting his answer with baited breath. Perhaps he held the answers as to why she'd been.. dropped here? Left here? Maybe he knew the reason, or even how she could make her way back to the Springs?

The woman’s face morphed into one of curiosity at his mention of humans, her pale form coming closer to him obviously intrigued by his comment. Ah, she didn’t know that that’s what they were. He wasn’t surprised, he’d come across plenty of wolves who didn’t and even he hadn’t ever seen them in person until he’d been taken by them. In fact, he didn’t think he wanted to see them again unless they could reunite them with him family.

”Mmm,” he rumbled with a nod of his head, “Humans. They’re the ones that took us and dropped us off...wherever the hell this place is. Ugly bastards.” His head tipped up as the breeze brought the scent of another carcass to them and, this time, he was willing to let it go. His salt-and-pepper head nodded in the direction of the scent but he didn’t go after it, inviting her to fill her stomach however much it could.

So they were brought here by the humans, but for what reason? They couldn't be meant for prey. That wouldn't make sense, unless the humans were some kind of bird? Birds did, in fact, pick up food and drop it off for their chicks, but Sága hadn't seen nor scented any human cubs... or humanlings.. or whatever they called their young since waking up. Sheer chaos, perhaps? Though that was just as unnatural among the species she knew of. Maybe she could figure it out if the fog encircling her mind would lift.

Sága laughed at his mention of ugly bastards, and allowed a conspiratorial grin to cross over her maw. "I feel like there are worse words we could use for them." Though she didn't share them, she was certain his imagination could fill in the blanks. "Do you know why we've been.." Kidnapped? Relocated? "dropped off?" Surely there was a reason.

At his invitation she began making her way towards the scent, gesturing that he should accompany her.

Hudson wasn’t expecting the laugh that tumbled from her mouth at his comment on the beasts’ appearances, but it was certainly a welcome sound from such a pretty face. He even allowed a small grin of his own to slip onto his lips. The comment that came from her afterwards reminded him a bit of his witty littermate and he felt a sense of nostalgia, but he tried to push it back. He didn’t want to get attached yet. He had wolves to find.

She asked him if he knew why they were dropped off as she made her way toward the kill and he gave a little shrug as he followed her, even though she couldn’t see it. “Unfortunately, I’m not sure. Didn’t really get the chance to stop and ask when they were taking us,” he said, his tail flicking in annoyance though not at her. “They take your whole family too?” he asked.

She moved slowly, though the newfound hunger in her stomach begged her to hurry, she didn't want to lose him just yet. It was a little disappointing to hear that he wasn't sure why they had been placed here either, but it made sense. For whatever test, or reason they had been moved, she felt a little solace in knowing that she wasn't alone. Nodding her understanding, her eyes found the carcass. It was fresh enough, though they clearly weren't the first to find it. Still, it was a welcome sight, and enough to fill them both.

As the man continued, Sága found her gaze drawn back to him. All thoughts of the half-eaten carcass were lost at the word 'family'. "They took your whole family?" Did that mean that the others were here? Her brother? Her parents? The cubs too? If her family had been captured too, then surely they weren't too far away. A slight wag of her tail hinted at her relief, though she was careful not to let herself hope too much. She'd been quite a ways away from home when the featherless bird gave chase to her. "Are they nearby?" Maybe she had missed the other scents on his coat..

Surprisingly she didn’t immediately dig into the kill, but he couldn’t necessarily blame her. When he’d woken up he’d felt absolutely horrible and food had been the last thing on his mind. He’d been busier wondering where he was, where his family was, and trying to make sure whatever he’d eaten last didn’t come back up for a reappearance. It had taken him a few hours to right himself enough to travel efficiently, so she already seemed to be doing a bit better than he had been.

She seemed surprised when he mentioned his family and for a moment he wondered if he’d been the only one whose entire family had been targeted. Surely not, there had been plenty of other wolves in that weird holding cave. He was baffled by the look of relief that seemed to wash across her face and a part of him felt offended. Why was she relieved that his entire family had been kidnapped and taken from him? He felt himself bristle, but then she innocently asked if they were nearby. Oh, she didn’t know that they hadn’t been dropped off together. His fur laid flat as he calmed himself.

“We were separated. I haven’t seen them since we were all taken. I could hear them in that big cave they kept us in, but I haven’t been able to find them since I woke up,” he replied. “Were you the only one of yours?” A secret part of him hoped she wasn’t so she’d be able to relate.
