Oh... well perhaps it was more than an oh, but the young pup stood faced with an odd kind of resistance. The young pup had intended to go to the ruck that sat just right in the sun. It's smooth but flat surface in the perfect place to snooze in the summer heat plæaning once next move. But there was something on the sunning stone... something weary odd. Lynx knew few things and while he thought himself brave and smart this was baffling him. On his sunning rock was another rock, a rock that had never been there before. But rocks didn't move on their own or at least he had thought they didn't move on their own until now. But this rock had to have walk itself onto the sunning rock, how else would it have gotten there? The young pup tilted his head regarding the oddity with a scrunched-up face until he moved closer to the rock.

It looked kinda funny, round but flat at the same time with strange patterns on its surface. Odd... really odd... but also weary interesting and intriguing... The small pup moved to sniff the rock and was surprised when it moved from his touch... A conclusion was drawn from this... the rock was light, not at all rock-like.

He huffed feeling tricked by this, rocks were heavy and not like this... but what else could this be if not a rock? Maybe he should try and bite it? No that seemed like a bad idea, Lynx may already have tried to bite a rock once and that did not end well.... So instead the lynx cub planted his behinds on the ground staring at the odd rock with interest and determination. He would figure out how it moved there was no doubt about it...

Chan Eastfall
Chan didn't often have to worry about the children, as the pack possessed plenty of caring wolves in addition to the litters' two hard-working moms. Honestly, he'd yet to encounter or hear about anything concerning regarding them all; they were intelligent pups, and mostly minded the warnings of adults. When he caught sight of Lynx, so near to a species of turtle Chan knew to be highly aggressive, he felt a drop in his stomach for the first time.

A bite from them would be nasty for an adult, and could very well end the life of a child.

"Lynx," Chan called out firmly as he trotted forward, trying to get to him quickly without outright panicking the little heir nor the reptile. Hopefully, he'd simply come and get himself out of reach before the turtle got pissed.

The rock... didn't move as much as an inch at first it just laid there like an old dumb rock. But Lynx knew it wasn't any old dumb rock, because it had to be able to move it just had to! And it did! It twitched suddenly something moving at the edge of the rock. The young pup could only stare wide-eyed frozen in excitement as it twitched and shouted... or not.. the rock didn't shout someone else did. The young boy turned to see who was calling for him and found a large wolf approach him. The agouti man wasn't a stranger, Lynx knew him. He was one of the big wolves of the pack. But that was also about as far as his memory got him when it came to this strange man. But Lynx wasn't scared he simply let out a bark to show he'd heard the man... and as he watched the grown wolf approach an idea grew in his eyes.

The adults knew stuff, all kinds of stuff about everything... So this one had to know about moving rocks already! Which meant he could tell Lynx about them and explain how it had gotten onto his favorite sunning rock! "Ello!" he called excitement in his voice as his tail wagged with the anticipation of getting to the bottom of moving rocks. "Ow Ok Ove?" he said his words jumbling together and coming out all wrong. The pup huffed displeased with the sound of his own words. "How ock move!" he repeated and found it to sound more like he wanted. Now he just had to wait for the grown wolf to answer and explain....

Chan Eastfall
Chan couldn't help but let the serious face loosen a bit with a small smile as Lynx chirped back at him, oblivious to the potential danger and the older wolf's tension. As it should be, really; he was happy, healthy, cared for. The Eastfall reached the whelp and used his muzzle to gently guide the youth away from his object of interest. If the pup didn't want to comply, Chan would stand firmly between reptile and wolf; he'd rather be bit himself than see Lynx suffer an attack.

"It's a turtle," he informed the young Vuesain, "it's alive like us."

Before the young Vuesain could get his explanation from the big wolf, he was guided away by the adult's muzzle. At first, Lynx resisted and tried to plant his oversized puppy paws into the dirt below. "But, ock! Unfortunately, his puppy paws failed him and the large adult easily moved him away from the "rock". Though he explained it actually wasn't a rock like he believed. It was a freaking turtle! Whatever that was!

It sounded pretty cool though especially since it was alive like them. "Ah-wive?" He asked with a cock of his silver head.

Lynx clearly didn't want to move, but Chan was very much thankful that he did. He glanced back at the creature and it's angry, beady eyes, glad too that it had chosen to show self-restraint instead of aggressively defending it's space. The Eastfall would have thanked it; if he could communicate in it's language, that was.

"Yeah, alive," he encouraged, stepping to the side so that Lynx could see the specimen clearly. If he tried to approach again, Chan would attempt to block the boy's path with his own body again; they could only push the little animal so far before it decided to try chasing them off, after all.

"See him move?"

The turtle would occasionally stretch a leg or turn it's head, but the clearest sign was the rise and fall of it's leathery little throat as it gulped down air. Chan put a paw against Lynx's chest, which likewise moved as the tiny wolf breathed.

"You breathe, so does he. So do I," his paw transferred to his own bosom, and if the child looked he would be able to see the motion emphasized as each breath pushed and pulled the extremity with it.

"We're alive."
