Open to any one or two - feel free to say they've hunted together but she hasn't been much of a talker <3

It wasn’t that she’d been deliberately anti-social or anything, she’d said hi of course, but all of these new wolves had her overwhelmed. She wasn’t sure how to handle herself around them, especially the mothers and pups. Besides, it seemed like there was plenty of eyes and paws to handle that part, so she made herself busy doing other things: she’d been marking borders – Such a weird feeling…! – And generally patrolled. Scouted a bit too and hunted as much as she could. That was the easiest. Hunting together felt much less awkward than general socializing, she didn’t have to force conversation or try to act nice, she could just run with the pack. So she made sure to join as many hunts as possible, always volunteering when anyone asked. Even if no one else seemed in the mood, she would often go out on her own and bring home a rabbit or two, or a marmot when she could square it; Anything to fill the caches! Or so she justified it to herself. It was proper work, and all those puppies needed to eat a lot.

Today was no different. The sun had just passed its zenith as the fiery wolf rose from her favorite sleeping spot in the shade of the trees, just within sight of the main den. A hollow had been worn in the ground from frequent use, perfectly fitting her stocky shape. She stretched thoroughly, rump and tail high in the air, before trotting into the clearing to see who was around – this had become a habit, a quick check to make sure all was okay and see if anyone was in the mood for a hunt. If not, she would continue to the borders, making a quick pass, perhaps spend a few hours patrolling before taking advantage of the dusk to do some hunting of her own. She liked routine, and this one seemed to work well for her and the pack; That still feels strange… But she enjoyed the feeling. To be contributing something worthwhile, even if she wasn’t great at the social thing.

@Flair Stella could catch up to Flair or not, I just wanted to make this post :)

Stella had fallen asleep in a particularly nice sunny patch of grass, just outside the main den, but she was really only napping out of boredom. As the sun slid by in the sky, drifting away slightly, she felt herself waking, and eventually opened her eyes. The days had grown a touch cooler as of late. She missed the warm embrace of the light, but the thought was fleeting as the girl took notice of one of the other pack members, and pushed herself up into a sitting position, her interest piqued.

The small girl was more and more fascinated with the comings and goings of the rest of the pack, beginning to perceive the complexities of their interactions, see the hints of the social structures that would become her future. Some would stay nearby and watch over the pups, or chat with her parents within earshot of certain curious children, but there were others who came and went who she saw less often, but found no less interesting. If anything, it was those like the red-pelted huntress she saw now, who sparked a sense of awe and mysteriousness in the young girl. She found herself wanting to follow in the other's footsteps for a time being, and so she rose and trotted off after the woman, trying see which way she had gone.

OH no I love this! <3 @Stella

Flair hadn’t noticed the pale pup, hidden by the tall grass that had served her as a bed. Thinking the den-site deserted, she had jogged off towards the borders, assuming the others would be out and about as herself. When it came to the pups, the fiery woman had been keeping her distance, afraid she might end up scaring or hurting them somehow, or perhaps just teach them words that their mothers did not want them to know. Despite her progress, as a member of Sanguine Cove, deep down Flair still thought of herself as a freak.

Besides, she was certain the kids wouldn’t be interested in her anyway, which was why it came as quite a surprise, when she stopped at the lakeshore for a drink and heard little paw-steps in the gravel behind her. She flicked back first one ear, then the other, as if to make sure she wasn’t hearing things that weren’t there, before finally having to admit defeat, slowly turning to glance over her shoulder.

She recognized the girl-pup, Aleister’s youngest, and quickly glanced around to verify that she was, indeed, alone. Thus put on the spot, the huntress made her best attempt at smiling down at the youngster, hoping she didn’t look as tense as she felt; “Hi there…”

<3 @Flair

Stella could no longer see the red glint of fur ahead, but she could still hear the woman she was following, though she was moving swiftly compared to the young girl's pace. Hurrying after, she wasn't sure whether to sneak along or show herself... would she get in trouble with her parents for sneaking away? But it wasn't in her budding nature to hesitate or think twice for too long, and she followed as quickly as she could manage, darkened ears perking forward to try and catch the sound of footfalls ahead again. Some things were worth doing, even getting in a little trouble for, just to do them.

She thought she'd lost the sound again, but then her eye caught the glint of red fur... and Stella realized that she'd been spotted. Oh.
For a moment all she could manage was a sheepish smile, until Flair's greeting banished her fears. So, it didn't seem like she was in trouble, at least just yet, and for now that was all that really mattered. Stepping forward, then leaping and bounding, she brought herself to a stop just in time to manage not to collide into the woman or look too silly and childish. At least she hoped so.

"Hi!" she echoed back excitedly, tail swaying in anticipation. "Whatcha doing?"

Her curiosity had definitely gotten the better of her, and any sense of awkwardness from Flair went totally over the girl's head - she was simply excited to have worked up the courage to follow and talk to one of the more mysterious members of their pack.

The girl seemed weirdly excited by her greeting, bounding closer to offer a hello of her own. Flair’s brow creased in a small frown, confusion lining her features as she watched the pup, at a complete loss as for what to do with this unexpected companion. Unperturbed, the kid went on to ask an eager question, her skinny tail dashing back and forth behind her. Flair’s frown deepened, her eyes once again flicking around, desperately hoping to spot another packmate she could turn the pup over to. But they were all alone.

“I uh…” she floundered, looking back down at the girl; What am I supposed to say? Finally she just gestured awkwardly at the water with one paw, shrugging her shoulders a little; “Just uh… Havin’ a drink. You alone out ‘ere?” She raised her muzzle a little, indicating their surroundings, foolishly, a part of her still hoped that someone else would come out of the woodworks to save her.

It seemed that her Stella's new babysitter - friend, perhaps? - did not quite know what to make of the small, excitable hanger-on that had been acquired. This fact had little effect on Stella's exuberance, if it dawned on her at all, it was only to add fuel to the curiosity that had been sparked. She only hoped she wouldn't be told off or sent back to the den. In truth, she was a growing child, and the confines of her world were in need of regular pushing. Meeting the members of the pack, learning of their duties, exploring further and further, these things might seem mundane to the adults, but little Stella had a burning drive to learn every new thing that she could, and all at a dizzying pace. All of it was so shiny and exhilarating!

Bright gold eyes watched as the she-wolf's sharp paw gestured toward the water, then glinted back to the woman. Her ears tipped up to catch the question, a very responsible and adult type of question for sure, but she was ready. "Well, you're here," Stella giggled. "So, nope, not alone!" She didn't think this lady would give her a lecture about being alone, but it was better to avoid it altogether if she could. Her thoughts turned back to curiosity and questions. "Whatcha doin' next?" She asked, hoping to change the subject to something besides he being out here where she probably shouldn't be.

Of course, she had no such luck, the woods remaining almost eerily quiet; Where is everyone anyway? Amber eyes returned to the pup, widening in surprise – tangent to panic – as the girl actually giggled, before dismissing her concern. It would seem, much to the fiery woman’s dismay, that she had been deemed the responsible adult; Without bloody asking!

Stella continued to be entirely oblivious to the older wolf’s discomfort, her bubbly voice asking another innocent question. Flair’s ears folded back for a moment, then forwards, a soft sigh falling from her dark lips. There was no way out, she would have to take on the babysitting role, at least for a little while.

She looked down at the pup with narrowed eyes, swishing the tip of her tail in cat-like perturbance. “Well, I was going huntin’, bu’ I guess that’s out of the question now,” She drawled, nibbling her lip as she thought. Then, an idea popped into her head, and she cocked it slightly, eyes glinting mischievously; “Or perhaps you’d like t’ come?” Of course, she wasn’t about to take the girl off the territory chasing elk, but perhaps they could find a trail of something small nearby to hold the youngster’s interest until her parents showed up; I hope!

The girl had let her hopes soar away with her, as she was often wont to do, and it was a hope that felt small now, but it was still bright. The prospect of a hunting trip seemed like the most exciting thing imaginable. Of course the fiery lady would be disappointed not to be able to go, and Stella could feel the realization stealing over her like a cold fog. The hope glimmered, threatening to be obscured. She would rather go back to the den, maybe play with her brothers or find someone else, some chore more befitting her level of experience, if her presence would prevent Flair from actually carrying out her duties. As carefree as the girl was, she could understand that at least.  "Oh, please, can I come too?" Stella's voice fell off into a hushed whisper. The girl was willing to take no for an answer at last, but would clearly still be a bit crushed.

But then her ears snapped up, sensing a change in Flair's expression, and Stella's small tail began to wag with exuberance, her front paws doing a quick shuffling dance. "Really, you mean it?" she beamed joyfully at the she-wolf, cocking her head in return. "I'll listen to everything you say, and do my best, I promise!" she couldn't keep herself from exclaiming.

In full honesty – and she would die before admitting this out loud – the fiery woman had been quietly terrified of the pups. Something about the kids just knocked her off balance and made her mind freeze up. Perhaps it was the thought of how close she had come to being their mother, the memory still sent a chill down her spine.

But looking down at Stella now, seeing the excitement in her eyes and hearing her hopeful whisper, warmed the otherwise reticent shewolf’s heart. She thought back to herself at that age, always so eager to take on new challenges and bite off more than she could chew. And when the girl squealed her glee at the invitation, dancing on the spot with pure excitement, other, much fonder memories came to Flair’s mind; Of her younger brothers, similarly eager to go on adult adventures with her.

The girls last comment actually made Flair chuckle aloud, her own tail giving an amused wag. “Y’ Better!” She replied, flashing a steely grin back down at the pup, then she pushed to her feet, heading into the woods at a determined trot. “C’mon,” She called over her shoulder, without looking back to see if the girl was keeping up; “Nose t’ th’ ground, lets find us some critters!” Scenting the air herself, she made a point of breathing loudly through her nose, hoping the pup would copy her; There’s gotta be some squirrels or something around here…
