A fine mist had risen during the night, leaving a silvery veil that obscured detail from the land as the sun blushed. The red ferns looked particularly red as they loomed out of the fog. Isomne had risen early, as was often her habit, and wondered if she might have some luck in her tasks today. Perhaps, she should do some hunting first, and then seek out pack mates if she could find them.

She stopped to drink at a rocky crevice that held rainwater, refreshing herself and thinking upon the day for a moment before starting it properly. Some considered a red sky at morning to be an ill omen, and she could certainly feel a chill on the land. The mists shifted silently all around, and it was easy to mistake a tree or bush for the shadow of a figure in the early-morning dusk. Surely, it was just a sign of autumn increasing its grip. It was always a strange time, the leaves losing their lustre and the land growing dark and falling into slumber as the year turned. Perhaps, spirits really did stir during these days, as some old stories claimed. If it were true, this certainly seemed like the right kind of place to run into them.

Shaking off the chill that ran down her spine, Isomne smiled and raised her head. She was a bard still, and what's more, she'd been tasked now with learning the history her new home had to offer. It would take a little more to scare her off. Still, she ought to at least take heed where she tread today. It as not easy to see the hidden depths and pitfalls.

His schedule swirled around tracking and scouting. The earlier hours were better, to catch the critters as they moved along the lands. Yet today he woke to fog and mist. Thick. It obscured most of his vision and trails were left nearly too damp to be of much use.

So he was prepared to turn his attention towards the borders. Scout the edges out in a patrol-and-mapping experience. It was in this work that he thought he saw something ghastly moving through the fog. A paler shadow, wolfish in features. Yet he could not make it out clearly through the thick morning fog. Maybe it was Woya?

He just hoped it wasn't one of the children, seeing as he was still on probation.

Still he rumbled warm but wary. Waiting to see what responded to him.

Someone else was there. Isomne turned, eyes narrowing to peer into the fog as her ears caught the sound. The tone was cautious, but not unfriendly, and most importantly unfamiliar.

"Hello there?" she inquired, bright voice breaking the quiet. Then the snowy woman stepped forward cautiously. She thought she could see a deeper grey blur within the mist as she squinted. Sure enough, it resolved into the shape of a large, greyish ghoul. She didn't recognize the features, but his scent struck her as once she'd noticed around of late.

"Good morning," she offered him a polite greeting, coming to a halt. With luck, the encounter would not be as chilling as the morning itself. "Have you been here long?" The question could be taken to mean the glade where they stood, the Chasm and surrounding territories, or just the Lore itself. She hoped that the man would not find such an open-ended question too pressing of her upon having just met, but she was curious about the newcomer and eager for some conversation to shake off the rather ominous air.
