you do not know who is your friend
or who is your enemy
until the   ICE breaks.
Another breeze rushed in on them, groaning, creaking, and Ice leaned his head into it - felt its unseen hands brush along the bridge of his nose, over his head, tousling the thick mass of hair on his back and tugging at his tail. Opening his closed eyes to look at Kisla he drifted sideways, away from her, allowing empty space to fill the place where he head stood. Hanging tendrils of vegetation brushed against him, but he kept himself in check, giving no visual indication of discomfort. He sort of hated this place at times, especially in these deep, spooky parts - but fear had no place in your heart when you protected someone else.

"Then you know its sounds," he said, head tilting slightly to the side. "Do you hear it?" The ancient, powerful forest creaked, its trees swaying all around him, not much, not dangerously, merely moving as they always did when the wind blew. Bark groaned and stretched, leaves rustling, moving against one another; a few came loose, drifting down on the wind, and bracken swallowed one of his hind paws. There he stopped, ears flickering, tail swaying, nose twitching - mind analyzing. He smelled nothing untoward, no strangers, no predators, only the forest and its smell of mold, decay. "Don't be afraid, Kisla. I'm here. Do you dare walk with me?" Deeper.

Fen. D: Drop kick me.

Her green eyes would dart from the shadows that played about them to regard Ice once more. His large figure of such pale tones seemed almost misshapen within the forest – his beautiful, stone-like features not belonging in such a twisted and ugly forest. The silver of his eyes captivated her as he spoke, though soon her gaze would fall to rest upon his cheeks in submission.

Her tail gave a hesitant sway, and bowing her muzzle to his words in response, she took a pace closer to him, allowing him to know without voice that she would follow him if he asked. She would follow any of her pack mates if they had asked it of her, though the demons of her fear fluttered heavily in her chest, twisting a knot in her stomach that almost made her nauseous.

The eerie wail surpassed them once more and Kisla outwardly flinched, her eyes shutting tightly as if she would open them and find herself back home. She did not make to close the gap between them once more, feeling as though her companion did not welcome the closeness. Instead, she opened her eyes, waiting for him to prove whatever he wanted to prove to her, so she could go home. Where it was safe.

*does the drop kick of love* man I feel so mean towards poor Kisla .. and please excuse this weird post o-o;

you do not know who is your friend
or who is your enemy
until the   ICE breaks.
It growled and it moaned, pushing its presence at them; out from the earth, of the trees, the peculiar aroma of the Woods permeating the air. Probably as old as the ancient Grove itself, but where those old, thick trees spoke of quiet majesty and filled with shimmering sheets of light, this place was dark, dreary, hiding every secret, both ugly and natural, in its embrace. It smelled of moist, rich earth, no doubt fed by countless bodies. If they took a walk, how many little ribcages and femurs would they find scattered like old playthings? As a wolf, it did not bother him particularly much - he touched the dead on a daily basis. But bone white shines in a moonlit night, and sometimes it just made your hair stand on edge and the whites of your eyes slip out like discs around darker irises. Sometimes you just wondered.. when will that be me?

She was unhappy; Ice didn't need to be a genius to see that. She was unhappy and he wasn't making it better, with all his drifting around, speaking, daring, forcing: it was cruel. She was just a child still, and something in his gaze softened as he padded closer, eating up the distance she dared not. "Kisla," his deep voice murmured, her name like spring flowing out his mouth in the dark of summer: his warm breath washed out into the night as his muzzle lowered towards her head, planting another careful lick by her ear. And in the manner of a wolf, he pressed against her, a silent promise of company, comfort: to protect, should something unholy charge out of the night at them. All around, the trees creaked and the forest sang its haunting song: branches full of leaves rustled to the sinister harmony, bracken and bush swayed, and his gaze drifted across them. How many of these held thorns, ready to bite your skin if you lost your footing?

This is a dark place indeed, his mind murmured even as his voice whispered "Come", and as if his mere movement could drag her with him, he gently drifted forward. One large paw cleaved the darkness of unknown shadows, and then the next, followed by the entire tide of his body, pale fur rippling with the movement. It's just the wind, it's just the wind, he wanted to tell her, but he kept his mouth shut, drifting out of the clearing and into the thick, compact arms of the Woods.

You can either archive this or reply and archive. Up to you. Thanks for the thread, Fen! made for some interesting development for Kisla, I think. :)

The sweeping moans throughout the forest was the life-like imagination from a young cub; any could envision the pitch black fur that would accompany such a noise, and the two piercing red eyes that would cast a glare of utter insidious contempt upon any who dared walk past it. Even at the tender age of a Yearling she could still see such monsters – granted, her soul had been stolen by the real monsters of the world; the harsh river she lived along and the she-wolf that had attempted to kidnap her at one point. She owed Marsh the world for how he had saved her – a figure that had risen far higher than any other male in her life, the male was one she adored and looked to as the only father figure she knew. Corinna had saved her – Corinna breathed life in to her.

Ice had not. The girl could not recall a time she had truly spent with the male, though she knew now he tried to teach her. To step up as a savior in her eyes as well. Instead she quaked beneath his demand, the light tremor of fear stealing in to her chest and sucking the breath away from her. He closed the distance between them then, her name rolling from his jaws and she peered up to him, the peridot of her eyes meeting the pale of his very briefly before flickering away.

His attempt to comfort her did little. The embrace of a friend, it did not make the darkness desist, or the moaning to quit. He beckoned her forward again, and she did not disobey, though not because she did not want to. He encouraged her fear – holding to break it, and yet instead he stirred it heavily in to her heart. This she could not forgive, and the girl found herself untrusting of the world even more. A broken soul within a delicate bodice, she clung to his heels, her eyes unreadable, spare the twitch of her lip every time the wind would seemingly groan out her name. She followed him in to oblivion, and only when they returned to Swift River would she stiffly leave his side, not once looking back.
