He had been arguably happier since @Jynx joined despite them not spending an abundance of time together. He felt a bit more secure and safe now that he had a friend whom he did not consider family within the pack. He couldn't not admit that he had some feelings for her but he had buried them, not ready to let them slip out in case things turned ugly like they had Aponi. He refused to remind himself of the heathen that had broken his life to pieces. He had taken the time to carefully put the pieces of his life back together and nothing could destroy it. Had he gone through rough patches? Yes he had. He had gone through several of them but he hoped to avoid those from that point forward.

The swarthy boy was rounding out the last section of the borders before his border run would come to an end. He decided that he would see what Jynx was up to and if she would mind his company. He hoped she didn't mind but he never knew what girls were thinking. Well... that wasn't entirely true. He knew what his sister thought about most of the time... at least he thought he knew. In all actuality, he had no idea what anyone else thought of as it should be but his oblivious nature to the fact continued to play on. He searched around, following her scent trails to track her down so they could just talk. He really enjoyed talking. He could tell so many stories that he could talk a wolf's ears off all day. Tace. He remembered the word that his former mentor had taught him from the ancient language. It meant silent and it had first been used in Karpos' presence during a hunt. Those were the days, truthfully. He missed them.

He missed them but he didn't. His eyes blocked out the sadness as he pushed it to the back of his mind. He had more important things to focus on than what could have been. For all he cared, Mapplethorpe could go die. Karpos looked around some more for Jynx before her scent was intercepted by a rabbit trail. He followed it, figuring that he could bring her a rabbit in case it was a bad time. He was pretty sure that was proper manners... right? He was very confused when it came to some social conventions or the whatevers.

Sorry for the wait!

Jynx had been adjusting well ever since the day she was accepted into Cut Rock River. She was getting used to life in a pack. And she liked it. While she may have been born and raised as a lone wolf, she was now beginning to think that it had been in her blood all along, to be a pack member. Even with her steady progress, her shy demeanor still remained alive and kicking. She kept her distance from the others, allowing them to approach her, or for their paths to cross whenever fate saw fit. Knowing that she would have to pull her weight to earn her keep in this pack, she busied herself with daily patrols of the borders and small hunting expeditions to ensure there were no hungry bellies. She had not had the pleasure of meeting with either of her leaders, nor had she even seen Nineteen, the pale lad who had accepted her. She even had not seen Karpos in a few days, and was left to wonder how busy a schedule the inky male was on.

Her ears tipped back in thought of her friend, a light smile in her eyes. She barely knew him, yet she felt as if she owed him everything. If it wasn't for him, she very well could be still living alone, out in the cold somewhere. She wouldn't be on this path to self discovery, which was now reshaping her life. Having decided that she had done enough work for the day already, the fiery coated female set off in search of her dark companion. She wanted to talk, to learn. To share a few little secrets with him. Would he share any of his? Like a moth drawn to a flame, she followed his scent, which was particularly strong around the borders. It lead her further back inland, amongst the protective safety of the cedar trees. Not long after she had taken a few careful sniffs, did her nose lead her to Karpos. His black fur was easy to spot in the distance, in the proper lighting conditions that is. A rare surge of playfulness washed over her then, as her yellow eyes fixated on his form, facing away from her. She'd surprise him, she decided, with a grin. Moving slowly, she placed one paw delicately in front of the next, while trying to hide behind the girthy trunk of a tree for cover. Karpos was being stalked, but the intentions of his silent companion were far from deadly.

He had been carefully moving forward as he failed to use his nose and kept his eyes peeled for his mottled friend. He held a small smile to him that contained a brightness that he had long since forgotten existed. He had a dramatic past filled with overreactions and anger and rage. He wasn't good. He had looked out for his friend without noticing that she was stalking him already. When would he turn around and notice? Not for some time as he continued on before turning around to give up only to notice a figure creeping around behind him. His smile grew slightly as he moved towards her, his tail swaying softly from side to side as he confirmed the identity of his friend.

As soon as he made a connection with the face, his grin grew wider. "Just the lady I was looking for! How are you Jynx?" His tone was soft and friendly as he waltzed to get within a talking distance of the beautiful young lady. His scar present on his eye as he blinked though it had started to fade just the slightest bit as some of the fur had started to grow back around his eye. "How are you today, Jynx?" He asked out of blatant curiosity, forgetting he had already asked her the question, as he looked at his best friend before him. He had considered talking to her about the pack he was planning on making but he didn't want to throw that on her when nothing was set in stone and he definitely did not want to scare her off with talk like that. They had just met a little while ago.

For a while, it had looked like she would have plenty of time to creep up on him. But it was only a matter of time until he turned around, spotting her. She froze in place, her face a mask of neutrality, betraying no emotion. She'd keep him guessing. With one front paw lifted delicately off the ground, head lowered, Jynx waited for Karpos to come closer. When he moved in, she rushed at him abruptly, allowing their sides to bump gently as she greeted him. "I was wondering when you would notice you were being followed." She said cheekily, any interest she had in other activities completely forgotten. Her black tipped tail wagged slowly, happily behind her, a warm smile on her maw.

Her russet dappled shoulders rolled in a soft little shrug. "I've been doing alright. Keeping busy, trying to settle in and get to know everyone." Was her reply, as she began to pace ahead, a flick of her tail inviting him to stroll side by side with her. She was grateful for his company, but then again, he was the one wolf she knew the best so far. She had to change that, to expand her list of acquaintances and friends. She could start by getting to know Lachesis on a more personal level, and then with the dominant pair of the pack. Noticing his repeated question, she merely chuckled softly instead of bluntly pointing it out. "Happy to see me today, are we Karpos?" She joked lightly, once again bumping her shoulder against his in a gesture of good nature.

@Jynx - I suck ;~;

His side would bump against hers, making him suspicious as he grinned at her. "What makes you think I wasn't just playing along?" His eyes would remain stoical in a way, shielding his true emotions inside of him. Was she toying with him. He would growl playfully at her cheekiness. She would then turn seemingly serious as she talked about getting to know the members of the packs. "Who have you met?" He would ask out of blatant curiosity as he gave her a questioning look and his smile faded into a small one. His chocolate brown shoulders would roll back as he felt a small crack from between the bones that felt almost like a relief from the pressure that had built up upon them. He'd see Lachesis later about it to make sure that it wasn't something that he was doing to make them do that.

Her question would tease him as he put an almost sarcastic look on his face. "Oh I don't know. I hear you can be quite sassy and that you're always getting into trouble." His tone was laced with humor as he circled his friend. "Yes, it's always good to see a friend." His tone was light as he put a charming and charismatic look on his face. He would face her head on, keeping his eyes looking at her face and nothing else. He no longer felt the psychological pain that he had associated with the scar on his face and the betrayal of a woman he had once looked up to. Silver would pay, but now was not the time to think about that.

Her russet shoulders rolled back in a soft shrug, her tail swishing at the empty air behind her lazily. "Oh who knows, you very well could have been." She admitted. Peering ahead out into the expanse of the Cedarwood Forest, she silently admired the pristine winter scenery with bright yellow eyes. While many of the other territories in Relic Lore were quite beautiful, there just seemed to be something a bit different....and in the good way, about this place. Her bright pink tongue curled over her lips, whisking away any stray flakes of snow clinging to the hairs of her chin. "Well....I did meet Lachesis, as you know. More recently I spent some time with Kisla....it seems like we have quite a lot in common." As she spoke of the tawny Alphess, a soft look crept into her eyes. It was one of fondness and admiration. There was just something about the she wolf that Jynx was naturally drawn to.

All this idle chit chat and strolling through the snow quickly got boring for a wolf her age. Maybe as she grew older, she could begin to focus on the more important aspects of pack life. The remark that came from his mouth sparked a renewed bout of playfulness to stir in her. Glancing over at him with a knowing smirk, she stopped dead in her tracks. "Oh yes, so true. Not many know about that side of me." She joked, and as if to prove her point, she bounced off, kicking up a misty shower of light snow with her back feet, knowing full well that poor Karpos would be caught in the midst. Would he follow her in her game? Was he too, just as playful as she was known to be? She'd find out.
