RE: There is a full moon.
@Nova and/or @Camio maybe...?

Coldness and clarity greeted Lucien as he picked his way up the broad shoulder of the mountain. Each breath that burst from his lungs was bright in the noon-day air. Though in the valleys and forests below, the first signs of spring were already beginning to appear - sloppy wet snow, treacherously thin ice upon the streams that were already growing with melt-water - the higher he climbed, the more it seemed that winter's grip on the land was still as strong as a vice. And yet, the sky above him today was bright and clear, the only objects it contained not dismal grey clouds, but freewheeling birds and the perfectly round discs of the sun and moon.

The pale chestnut hued wolf didn't mean to climb all the way up today, nor to leave the western side or the range behind in favor of the unexplored East. A short jaunt into the foothills had been his original aim. But as the morning wore on he'd found himself climbing higher and higher yet into the rising highlands, his paws navigating ever more rugged terrain as he pressed on. Today's weather was a welcome change from the eerie fog-shrouded forests he'd wandered through below in days prior, the dismal freezing mist that had caused him to loose his way. It had been the mountain's foothills that he'd followed into these lands in the first place from the North, and there was something about his first sighting of this small region that had inspired him to linger here and wander these lands rather than continuing further South. Perhaps if he could recapture that moment, he might discover a reason to belong here, or at least get a hint about where he should try investigating next.

Coming the treeline on a small, windswept ridge, Luc sought out the shelter of a rock overhang which had kept a small area relatively free of snow and ice. Below, the valley spread out before him like a treasure map once more, the landscape defined by swathes of dark forest and the shining, silver ribbons of streams that wove throughout. From up here, the smaller details were indiscernible. Where the deer might bed down, where the rabbits hid their warren, where the borders of the packs lay and what might lie in the hearts of those wolves - he could see none of those things from here, and while the view might have been breathtaking, it did little to ease the young man's dilemma. If anything, it had been a waste of precious energy reserves for the loner. And yet he remained, a stubborn huff escaping his muzzle as a cloud of steam on the chilled air, a vow that at the very least, he'd stubbornly enjoy the beauty that he had traveled here to witness.

Nova
@Lucien
@Camio Just saying they temporarily split to hunt for prey in the immediate area, so you can chose whether or not you want to bring Camio in :)

As the pair descended the lofty heights of the Pass, Nova was struck by the breathtaking scenery that stretched out before them. An open expanse ripe for discovery, a blank page to be filled. Trees steadily became more plentiful, though were scraggly from having to eke out a life on the mountainside. Nova felt a little bit bad for them, since they had no choice but to grow up wherever they rooted down. Fortunately for her, she had two pairs of working legs and the freedom to explore. Nova had once practically been a homebody, but now that she had started to travel, the new sights and few responsibilities was exhilarating.

They weren't entirely clear of responsibilities, however. They still needed to eat, and with that in mind the Zamoras had branched off to search the area for prey. Nova had hopes of finding a rabbit, or even a hearty marmot if she was lucky. She'd never killed one before, but surely it would be a piece of cake compared to the wolverine she had helped Iopah dispatch. Dreaming of fat, tasty marmots and idly wondering what Iopah and the rest of her old pack were up to now, Nova was caught off guard by the wolfish scent on the breeze. A male, but easily distinguished from Camio's familiar musk. Nova was interested, wondering who it could be and thinking perhaps they would know if  there was any prey about.

Wide paws carefully picking over snow-covered stones, Nova scaled down the slope with her nose ducked low. She came to a stop at the edge of the little ledge, her nose working overtime as she could have sworn it smelled like he was right here! Nova lifted her head, gaze panning down the mountainside and seeing no-one. "Hellooo? Anyone there? Just me?" She loudly asked, batty ears primed for a reply.

Lucien Chastain

He'd become quite lost in his thoughts, studying the vista below and appreciating the fact that the cold wind didn't needle at him so much, in this little stone hollow. It was then that the sound of someone's approach broke his quiet reverie, and Lucien scrambled to his feet, overcoming his surprise quickly and peeking out from his hide-out. The voice that rang out sounded somewhat feminine, and as the young male laid eyes upon her, he realized she must be close to his age, too.

"No, you're not alone!" he called back, strolling out to meet the dark lady. He really hadn't expected to run into anyone, after all he hadn't smelled a single fresh bit of wolf-scent his trek up here. A grin adorned his face, and his tail swept in a happy arc over his back as he looked her over, taking a couple of steps closer before stopping to stand before her. She was even taller than he was, though with somewhat less solidity to her frame, and uniquely proportioned. Her coat and vivid gaze were all quite striking, though quite different from most of the females Lucien had considered 'beautiful' before today.  There was something unbalancing about the fact that none of it seemed to matter, his heart still skipped a beat. Trying to ignore the way the wind tugged at his coat now that he'd conceded his shelter, he tipped his nose forward to study her scent. The stale aroma of other wolves clung just slightly to her fur, mostly overpowered by one particularly fresh odor. Luc wrinkled his nose for a second, raising an eyebrow. "...are you?" he appended his statement slightly, although it still wasn't really much of a question. He chose to tease her like an old friend, and move on, apparently undaunted."The name's Lucien Chastain. I'm a traveler," he volunteered, with a proud smile. It was generally considered rude to just come out and ask these things, and often Lucien was happy to volunteer this information in hopes that those he met, like this she-wolf, might do the same.
