Rook Lyall

"Get to it then," was quite possibly the only thing Rook needed to hear to let go of the rest of his worries. It should have been obvious by now that his father was fine (and that he was fully capable of going on about his day without his son's constant pestering). He would just have to check in with him or his mother later to be sure that the Leader was definitely all right in his absence. Upon Borden's leave, Veho called for Rook's attention with an interest in the den site he had mentioned.

"Mmhmm," he eagerly nodded. "It's um..." He took a moment to reorient himself, lifting his head and looking one way then the other. His ears swiveled about and his nose twitched; Jasper Rocks from here couldn't have been more than a few minutes away. Well, maybe a bit longer if they took their time and Rook talked a bit or answered more questions along the way, which was absolutely fine. Now that Veho had been initiated as one of their own, they had all the time in the world.

"This way." Tail raised in a high wag and a small skip and bounce in his step, he began to lead the way. Elettra's old den would be their first stop, followed by a bit of border-trailing and marking then moving back towards the heart of the territory where he could pass by the main pack den and - if they made it there by sundown - the old bear den where Grizzly Hollow had first been established. Wherever Veho wanted to stay, he was indeed welcome to it, whether it was with the rest of the pack, with Rook (which would have Rook needing to check with Quil and Tomen the following morning), or the little den by the creek (and Rook was more than eager to escort him back).

By nightfall, most of the pack grounds had been covered, and when he had come to a stop in mid-step, he cast a smile to his companion, whose tawny fur seemed aglow in the last light of day. "If I ever forget to do so, I want to thank you for everything." Then, just like before in an unexpected but most delicate of ways, he leaned forward to nudge his nose to the underside of Veho's jaw. This would be the mark of a new chapter then, and what notions he had before of subordinates and Leadership would be forever instilled in him this way. What was it to be a Leader? To see to his family's happiness, to be considerate and understanding but, most of all, amenable and receptive to the possibilities of what could be.

Chances are I have a BEN WHISHAW gif for that.
