&lt;p&gt;Sometimes the world seemed far too large, far too frightening to endure. Sometimes she thought she might hole herself up in the main den and never leave for fear of the danger that surely lurked under rock and behind every tree. The disappearances had clearly affected her psyche, but they had not yet broken her, for sometimes, the wilds called to her, pulled her further and further from home. It was some innate piece of her, perhaps one passed along from her parents, that begged her to roam, to explore, to see the sights and sate her curiosity. <br />

Today, she found herself in the heart of Charred Ash Draw, though its name was lost on her. She simply saw it for what it was now, an old, abandoned den site nestled between the ridges.
