Hollow woke silently, he had recently moved into the rocky dens in the heart of Secret woodlands territory He kept his small dugout for nights he was on patrol, but the young wolf liked it better here. In the heart of the territory where he could scent his leaders and pack mates, his family now. The dark yearling padded out of the den, and silently surveyed the small clearing where his pack had made its home. He lowered himself onto his rear and wrapped his tail around his paws. His breath rolling from his mouth in a fog. Sitting in silence he tilted his back to face the weak winter sun a smile playing at the corners of his mouth, it was warmer today. A good sign for the fledgling pack, Hollow began to get excited for spring, his tail began to thumb the ground happily and he began to pant wondering if he should wake everyone Better not, you might be involuntarily removed of your fur he thought with a devilish little grin. RE: Secret Woodland Pack Thread - Koda - Jul 14, 2013 The beams of sunlight that managed to break past the light dusting of clouds streamed down through the tangled foliage and onto the rocky den below. Koda reclined upon one of the larger crags that made up the den, sunning himself in the warm summer light that spilled over him. A refreshing breeze tousled his thinner summer coat, and he had one heavy paw draped over his eyes to block out the sunlight. It wasn't terribly hot today, but for a wolf it was just fine. Koda gave off the impression of a sleeping lion, and the flicking of his ears to and fro was the only indication that he was actually awake, a king in constant survey of his domain. Koda enjoyed these lazy Sundays, and while he had no idea what a day or a week was he relished the opportunity for rest in any case. The cubs were old enough to not need a constant watch, and summer meant food was easier, and less risky, to come by. While there were worries of the winter ahead and how his pack and children would fare through it, those concerns were not for today. Perhaps he could justify his rest in saving his strength for the journey he planned to Willow Ridge, but he felt no need today to justify savoring the calm of summer while he still could. RE: Secret Woodland Pack Thread - Nina - Oct 20, 2013 [dohtml] She would stare at the rocky wall of the pack den wandering and wishing that every few seconds there would be some kind of noise to indicate that Tacoma was still alive and breathing. No such thing would ever happen again. Back before she had entered the lore many mothers had lost one of their children and Nina had felt sympathy for them, never really knowing how they truly felt…but she did now. She knew what it was like to lose such a precise treasure and to have it stolen in a heartbeat. No one could ever give her child back to her and Nina had been constantly trying to stay strong for her family and children. @Hollow had been doing his best to keep up with the borders and was once again overworking himself. Ever since Tacoma’s death, Iopah’s scent had become even fainter on the borders, but Nina knew that he pack would never allow anyone to hurt her children and were make sure they were well fed while she mourned. The alpha could be as strong as she wanted in front of her pack mates but she wouldn’t be able to fool them forever.
Sneaking away for short periods of time had been perfect timing and no one had even begun to question her. But over time the amount of time she spent away from them kept dragging out more and more. There was no comfort from her mate, only Hollow, her ever loyal Guardian. She needed him to come so she could sort out a time when she could go back to see Lady Elettra of Willow Ridge. The last time she had seen the woman was when Koda had come back from his terrible fall. It was time for her to get reacquainted with her allies. It would serve the Willow Ridge alpha well to know that her former partner was no longer with the Secret Woodlands wolves for the time being, along with the news of her son’s untimely death. From there, she would most likely then travel to Whisper Caverns, and then back home. She just needed Hollow here for a little while to get everything cleared up.
RE: Secret Woodland Pack Thread - Hollow - Oct 25, 2013 [dohtml] Even through the exhaustion Hollow had managed to keep his scent on the border. The days began to chill and it would not be long before prey, herbs and cover disappeared to be replaced by a thick blanket of snow. The leader could only prepare for that event, there was nothing more to be done for it. He kept his scent strong and his voice quiet. Even if he did not always seem present he was there. Secret woodlands would never be without its leader, not as long as Hollow could help it. Though in recent days as the wind began to raise and the air chilled he had taken to sleeping inside the pack den. Which was exactly where he was now, curled up near the fading scent of Azariah.
He was waking slowly, from a warm dream of himself and Azariah, they had pups, and their own pack, closely allied with Secret woodlands of course, but it was his own. A sigh escaped him as he shook the sleep from his body and padded to where he saw Nina, she looked concerned, thoughtful, pained. He knew then exactly what was on her mind but still he had to provide the best comfort he could. "It's hard... all of it, the pack, the seasons... Tacoma." even as he spoke a shade of sadness overcame him. His eyes glazed as if he were going to cry for Hollow felt he truly had failed as a guardian the day the boy had snapped his neck. RE: Secret Woodland Pack Thread - Nina - Nov 06, 2013 [dohtml] The woman had not expected Hollow to be up around this time and had planned on speaking to him on a later date, but when he came up beside her, she inhaled sharply with his words, being briefly reminded of her son’s lifeless body. It had been hard but the pack had stood by her side and they would not allow her to flatter. Swallowing the lump in her throat bravely, she turned to him, an odd shadow passing across her face. "I must travel to Whisper Caverns and Willow Ridge. The trip will take awhile and I want to make sure that it will be alright if you look after the children and pack whilst I am gone." She did not form her request in a question but simply stated what needed to be done. That was how her and Hollow worked and it had turned out that they worked extremely well together.
Nina had not meant to completely ignore the comment that Hollow had made, but she would have choose to avoid the subject as much as possible. Just the thought of Tacoma being gone caused a large amount of pain to travel throughout her entire body. She never wanted to ever have to live through such a thing ever again and the alpha would never wish such a fate upon anyone else, especially a fellow mother. It made her think about all the times her own mother had given birth. How many children had she hidden and had to pretend did not exist for their protection, and against their own father? Nina just couldn’t imagine going over such a thing over and over again. The golden brown lady knew that if she ever lost Ashton or Danica she would truly be broken.
RE: Secret Woodland Pack Thread - Iopah - Feb 10, 2014 Dusk was starting to creep over the thicket when Iopah finally made her way through the heart of her home. The illusion of warmth the sun had offered was being rescinded, it was bitterly cold. It had been a long day and she was exhausted. Her journey to Heartleaf Creek had been sobering. As much prey there as there was here. Her feeling of dread was growing. Every new bit of information she gleaned the more footholds the fear developed. She wanted nothing but to curl up and lose herself to sleep. Her tree, and her resultant den, was still over a mile away. A mile was nothing to a wolf, but right now it felt like a daunting distance. Tempted, Iopah stopped in front of the pack den. It was well-used. Smelling like her pack-mates, leaders, and the not-so-little pups. Her feet drifted closer of their own accord, crunching on the well-packed snow. Suddenly, and with the thought of the famine, and the memories that it dredged up, Iopah couldn't handle the thought of being by herself. For the first time since she came to the thickets she wanted to hear her little family around her. She wanted that mundane reassurance of belonging. Quiet, soft feet brought her inside the den. It was too dark to tell if it was occupied or by whom. Every scent was reassuring and Iopah found she didn't care who she sleep next to. Stiffly she laid down, curling her feet against her and tucking her nose into her grayish tail. Her body was still, but her gold eyes swept back and forth as she followed the noises of the forest outside. Re: - Spirit of Wildwood - Feb 10, 2014 Water is beginning to freeze and some fish are trapped. Hunt Opportunity RE: Secret Woodland Pack Thread - Bane - Mar 20, 2014 [dohtml]
It had become nearly unbearable, living here... This time of year left his foiled, confused. The scents of the many men who lived within this pack were so very strong, the snaps and growls of dominant aggression constantly filling his ears. The females smelt funny, even Nina, and he could not understand why. Everyone was being weird, everyone was being different and in the back of his mind there was some sort of fear that they, too, like his mother and father before them, were going mad. Of course, Bane did not understand the concept of breeding season and so, it was him and Ashton alone to sit in their wondering, silently brooding with one another. Tonight, he had a better idea. Instead of merely being in the other boy's presence, he would confront the prince of the land. Bane shifted out from the confines of Nina's hideaway where he had always felt most comfortable and into the open air, shifting slowly along the pack den's opening in search of @Ashton. He would be leaving with him soon, he knew, and wondered what had become of the boy's confrontation to his mother. Bane had no parents to tell, no mother or father who would, nor could, stop him from his plans. Of course, Bane had every intention of doing all and the best he could for Hollow and Nina before he went. For although they were not truly his parents, he would learn that they were better parents to him then anyone else had and so, they might as well be considered something of the sort. Sighing to the thought, the young chocolate boy woofed out for Ashton's attention before the nightly sky. BANE Aranna RE: Secret Woodland Pack Thread - Kashikoi - Mar 27, 2014 Kashi wasn't one for being in large groups but he had to leave his small hollow sooner or later. After all, he only knew the two alphas and that was from before this pack even existed. He gently rose with a sigh before walking his way out of the hollow. A quick look around showed a few of the pack wolves spread out. It wasn't like he could just walk up to any group now, no he would have to wait and see if anyone was curious enough to approach him. Finding an open space he padded over to it keeping his posture slightly low as his rank before laying down. Now that he thought about it, he really didn't have much experience at all in meeting any wolves. In the past it had been from nearly starving to death and someone taking sympathy on him or he had been introduced to another wolf. The closest he really came to meeting wolves on a personal level was when he would do routine territory watch and if a wolf happened to get close to the pack boundaries. Had Nina been the only one he had truly gotten to know and become friends with? His brow furrowed in thought before he tucked his snout under his fore paws in frustration. "It's useless trying to figure this stuff out isn't it?" he muttered slightly to himself. His ears lowered as he considered going back into his hollow. At least that way his mind would quiet down. |
