RE: It's the hard lessons we're learning - Eros - Jan 11, 2022

Even keeping his mouth shut didn't help. Eros tried to become smaller with every word, as though if he curled up tightly enough he'd just disappear altogether. Having their first hunt ripped out from under them wasn't enough. They were losing the privileges they had just earned as well, and had to have what he could only assume would be this horrible conversation all over again with not just Mama Clo but also Aunt Shar. So he hadn't just pissed his dad off and ruined his brother's life, huh? He'd hurt even more wolves, and of course Mom would also need to find out and be angry with them too...

Their father said something about eating and then left, and Archer came over to him all nice but his touch was the last straw for Eros. With snot and tears both drenching his face he shoved his brother, hard, and exploded.

"LEAVE ME ALONE!" he screamed, putting all of his frustration and anger and sadness into his voice to the point that it broke and crackled and hurt.

He lunged away from Archer, and toward the exit, bursting out into the cold air and running away from the den as fast as his legs would carry him. He couldn't take any more words or any more prodding or anyone else's disappointed face. He needed to get away until he could calm the hurricane that was his emotions.
