RE: To the Heart we Trust - Titan - Jul 15, 2014 Here's a good point for someone to jump in. I won't post anymore until somebody else does. [dohtml] Disappointment followed Nari's words as she shot down Titan's proposal for them to visit the other side of the mountains. He had seen the mountains from far away, but other than their changing colors throughout the season and day the dark boy had no idea what they looked like up close. He wanted to see how big they were in person. To climb the peaks and look over the land he had grown up in. To look at the lands on the other side of the mountains and find new places. Though the way his mother worded her depressing answer gave Titan pause. He had already met with an age mate named Rook who had been a loner himself. You will have to one day go by yourself to meet him. that comment from his mothers lips gave Titan an idea. Though the thought of leaving the pack to roam the land both excited and scared the young male.
Distracted from his thoughts, the shadowy wolf listened to the gray females description of the Lagina wolves in his family. She seemed to know more about them than of the other side of her family. Though he was kinda sad that the gray she wolf couldn't tell him more about his fathers side of the family. When she spoke of Tokino and his siblings Titan let a silent snarl appear on his muzzle. He was not fond of the strict man at all.
All of the sudden a sharp crack of thunder above their heads rang loudly. Titan jumped and hit his head softly on a column before settling back into a crouch on the ground shivering. A cold sweat soaked his fur as the young male's eyes darted around in fright. Soon as the thunder settled and his mother's voice reached to him, the dark wolfs blue gaze fell back to the gray wolf sitting before him. He nodded shakily as his black ears rested forward on his dark crown trying to listen again in on the older she wolfs voice.
Narime continued on about great grandparents and great uncles and aunts. Though the young man was disappointed once more to hear that she couldn't remember anything else about the family. Yakova Lagina and Flower Fall... Thanks Flower Fall for giving me my coat. He sent the silent prayer to the wolves he had no idea were alive or dead. Then ached as silence began to envelope them again. His mother didn't seem to be able to continue the conversation which made him wish he could change the topic so that she could talk more.
More thunder sounded making Titan jump again. He snarled loudly while his eyes darted back and forth. What could he do to keep himself from jumping all the time? His head already hurt from the bump he'd given himself from being startled before.
"H-hold on a sec. L-Lemme get something to calm my nerves..." Titan shakily stood up and slunk to the right into the tunnel that led to Kassander's store of herbs. Routing out the plant he had in mind would be easy if he wasn't so jumpy and had the concentration to do so. "Kassander you there? I need to use some Hyssop. Do you mind?" Titan called out at the entrance of the den unsure if the male was there or not. At the moment he was too flighty and distracted to notice scents or the sight of a pack mate hiding in the shadows. All he wanted was to keep himself from jumping around in the dark and giving himself more injuries.
Slowly moving to examine the holes in the walls of the den Titan kept himself concentrated on this singular mission, to find lavender hyssop, so that he could calm himself a little. It took the jumpy wolf a minute to locate the herb before he pulled a stem of it out. He wasn't sure how much he was supposed to eat though. Titan decided that eating little bits of it at a time and waiting for the plants properties to take effect was the safest thing to do. Nibbling at the end of the stem Titan wrinkled his nose at the taste. Sure it smelled good, but the taste was not pleasant at all. Then he dragged the remaining piece of the plant with him back to the tunnel where Nari was sitting. Every once in a while the dark wolf nibbled on the plant while flinching as thunder echoed farther in the distance. RE: To the Heart we Trust - Danica - Jul 16, 2014 (I guess my muse is towards drama, oopsie.) Danica stalked through the long swaying blades of light green. She was skillfully sneaking up on her target. The bird had no clue...she was so close...almost there...now! The wolf sprung into action, but landed with a mouthful of dirt. The bird flew away to safety from the inexperienced huntress. Growling out her frustration she turned holding her head low. Her tail limp between her hind legs. She was still a failure! Why? Man did she need Iopah's teaching. Why hadn't she staid long enough for a lesson? Dummy! Dani's moping was disturbed when a loud booming filled the sky. She jumped wide eyed and quickly looked up. The sky was getting dark, grey clouds rolling in. Without another thought she took off for shelter. She knew her den was too far away so she went straight for the Caverns. However, she was not quick enough to avoid the stinging cold droplets. It wasn't long till she was saturated, miserable, and cold. She whinned quitley a complaint to herself. The yearling weaved through the trees in a blur of wet fur. *This is awful*...she thought bitterly. A log close by had her picking up speed to jump it... Danica cried out in pain as she smacked down onto the mud. Panicking she twisted and turned...making it worse. She let out a chorus of yelps as she freaked out. Calming only when she tired herself, she looked back at the damage. While soaring over she had caught her leg on a sharp stick. It had pierced through her muscle and her reaction had made it worse. Sloppily she turned her body about to knaw herself free. It was taking forever as she chewed at the hard wood. It didn't help that the piece was thick, and would take awhile to get through. When it broke off her hind end smacked down, mud splashing. She laid there exaiming herself till lighting striked the nearby ground. Standing up she awkwardly ran on three legs. Her paws crossed over the boarder and she slowed down. Though it was sore, and had a bloody stick in it, she placed her leg down. A ear piercing yelp fled her mouth as she lifted it back up. She looked ahead smelling blindly over the blood for Titan. He was instantly the first wolf she thought to seek out. The healer, @Kassander, didn't even enter her mind. Sadly she couldn't pick up his scent over wet Wolf, rain, and blood. Clumsily Danica walked with her left hind leg held close to her body. It took longer then it should have, but Dani found the pack dens. She howled out for him saying she was hurt, then she stumbled inside. She was instantly greeted with a little bit of warmth. Unbalanced she fell down and laid there shivering. She wasn't sure if he would come or if someone else would. Should she call out again? Or had she been heard over the raging storm? (Not sure if this is realistic???) RE: To the Heart we Trust - Narimé - Jul 17, 2014 [dohtml]
Narime saw much disappointment in Titan's gaze as he listened, but she couldn't do anything about it. That fact alone made her angry at herself because the gray wolf knew that parents were supposed to be able to answer every question, to teach their young whatever they wanted to know about. She looked down at the earth as more thunder rumbled and Titan began shifting nervously once more.
After another louder crack of thunder Nari flinched and heard her son snarling frightfully. She couldn't reassure or help him anymore. That was evident as he shook. She wondered where his extreme fright of storms had come from. Though in the back of the womans skull she did remember moving the pups when they were very young from the small birthing den to the cavern before a bad thunderstorm like this hit them.
When the dark wolf spoke out stumbling over his words about something to calm his nerves, Nari looked at him with a curious but worried expression. She knew that Titan had been learning about herbs from Kassander, but she wasn't sure if he really knew what he was doing with them.
Watching the dark Thorben slink off, the queen sat quietly listening to the storm outside. Believe it or not she actually ached to go to the cave entrance to watch the thunder and lightning. The wolf always enjoyed a good light show in the sky.
As Titan returned Nari looked at him sharply eying the stem of something that smelled rather powerfully in his black maw. "Are you sure that is something that will help you?" She questioned before realizing that he had already nibbled the end of the stem and leaves. Hoping that Kassander had taught the boy well on whatever herb he was chewing at, Nari sighed and tried to calm herself. The wafting scent of the plant in the air mingled with the thoughts on her conscious.
Then she bolted up to all fours. A call echoing through the tunnels that sounded desperate had reached her ears. Though the name being called for was Titan. "That's Danica, come on child!" Nari commanded her son to follow as she sped through the maze-like tunnels, through the large main room of the cavern, and then back out into the tunnel that led out to the large room that held the mouth and entrance of the cave. Rushing to Danica, the silver wolf sniffed the girl all over and licked her nose and forehead to try to calm the young wolf. "We're here don't worry Danica." Narime's gentle voice spoke softly to Danica. "Tell me what happened." The question was also a gentle one as Nari lightly scented the area where Dani's leg was injured. She couldn't scent anything but rain, mud, and blood with a hint of musky earth. Glancing to Titan Nari watched for him to be scared then asked him her question.
"Do you know anything that will help this? and no rushing off to get it. I want to come with you to make sure your not freaking out when you get the herbs." She sternly spoke to the boy now wishing that Kassander was here. The woman would feel more assured of the girls treatment if the wiser more experienced wolf was here instead of Titan, but Nari would take what she had at paw. [/dohtml] RE: To the Heart we Trust - Titan - Jul 17, 2014 [dohtml] "Yes it should help." Titan spit the words back at his mother who annoyed him with her inability to believe that he actually knew what he was doing. Then he nibbled on a bit more herb.
The hyssop hadn't really started working until he nibbled the whole stem he had in his jaws. Once the plant was gone Titan sat waiting to feel calmer, and did in fact feel a little lulled. Little did he know that if he had eaten two more stems the plant would have taken full affect on him and soothed him fully into not caring about the storm at all. However he had only eaten a small piece of hyssop, and when more thunder crashed he still flinched but Titan's recovery time had increased. So instead of flinching and jumping then feeling tense and stressed constantly he now calmed down and relaxed between each of the loudest crashes of lightning and thunder. So in a small way the herb did help.
The call of a she wolf asking for his name had Titan up at his paws nearly as fast as his mother had reacted. Concern and worry stretched out on his face as Nari ordered him to follow. Like I wouldn't go to help Danica had she not ordered? Titan growled in his head while pushing forward running behind his mother. Unlike her he couldn't exactly run through the tunnels without accidentally taking a wrong turn. Though he knew the tunnels and had lurked around them since he was very young,he could only find his way through them at a walk while thinking of which way to go. However with Nari leading he was sure he could run through because she knew the way through the cold hard stone maze.
Once they arrived Titan took up a spot at Danica's shoulder nosing the fur around her neck and trembling slightly at the sight of her sprawled out on the floor. He looked over the wound gulping hard as his eyes scanned over the stick which stuck into and out of the Reinier wolf's leg. That definitely does not belong there Titan thought while his mind turned to mush at the sight of it. He hadn't realized how long he had been staring at the wood; missing his mother's voice as she gently spoke to Danica trying to calm her. Not until the stern side of his mothers voice brought Titan out of his initial shock. Dark blue orbs flicked to the gray female as she spoke to him asking about what might help. He thought for a moment going over the list of things in his head while looking at the rain just outside the mouth of the cave. Uhhmm... she bleeding bad, so something to help stop that or lessen it...So Ergot for her to eat, then there's the wound itself geeze... He gulped a second time and felt a shiver up his spine. I don't know if that thing is hurting her bone or not, but the muscles...what was it again that tree plant.. S..scu..sc. Scrub pine that's it! Should help with her muscles if she eats it. He was swaying back and forth as the wolfs right and left paw took turns clawing at the earth while he thought. Uhh..Goldenrod is supposed to help the wound on the outside but is she supposed to eat it or is it used in a different way? His brow furrowed as Titan realized he didn't know what to do with the goldenrod. He just knew that he was somehow supposed to use it on her.
"I need ergot, scrub pine, goldenrod, and maybe cobwebs. Mom can you find cobwebs for me? I promise I know which herbs to get. I don't want to hurt Danica by accident for being slow with this." He cast a stare at her defiantly hoping that she would do as he asked instead of following him back to the medical supplies in Kass's den. Turning to go get the herbs Titan paused and spoke to Danica himself before heading back down the tunnels. "It's okay you'll be fine..." He spoke in a strong voice so as not to scare his friend as she lie there then bounded into the tunnels.
At the herb den, Titan brought out the stacks of herbs he would need. He debated on also bringing hyssop to calm her, but decided against it since she would already be eating two other herbs. It was a good thing he decided not to give her hyssop as falling asleep while she might be in shock would have been very bad indeed.
Once he gathered the herbs, as much as he could carry of each, Titan trotted down the tunnels back to his friend. Danica was still there, though he was unsure of whether she had calmed down a little or not. His head swam as he thought of his plan, the repetition of the thoughts becoming a tautology as the swarthy male made it back to Danica's side. He separated a small bundle of ergot and scrub pine's needles and a bit of its softer bark out before Danica wondering just how much he needed to use of each. Being perhaps a little over careful he separated the piles once again and placed just shy of the amount he was supposed to use of scrub pine before Danica's muzzle. However Titan did put just the right amount, unbeknownst to him, of ergot next to the scrub pine. Then with his nose he pointed to the herbs. "Eat these please, they should help you.." He gently nudged the herbs closer before looking at the goldenrod somewhat worried. perhaps mom would know of other ways to use it? Klio never said specifically that goldenrod had to be eaten. She just said what it helped heal, not how to use it.
Looking around for his mother Titan let out a low growl hoping she would hear him.He looked over Danica's leg not quite brave enough to touch the wood and take it out yet. "Mother do you know how goldenrod is supposed to be used? It helps cuts, sores, and bruises, but I am unsure whether it needs to be eaten or if it is used a different way.." He hoped she wouldn't bark at him over this and think him incompetent over a single question. RE: To the Heart we Trust - Ash - Jul 19, 2014 [dohtml] He was so content to be in peace at that moment. Whisper Caverns had gained quite a few members since Minka had left them and Ash didn't have to be working his tail off all the time. He was glad that other wolves seemed to be able to handle their tasks accordingly and without him having to deal out punishments to those who did not do what they had to do. It seemed like no one wished to question him and he was glad that he did not have to associate himself his pack mates. He was an elusive man and he hoped it would be able to stay like that. Ever since Narimé had risen to power, Ash had been doing everything in his power to support her and make sure she remained strong. It was hard sometimes, because he didn't know if he was always doing everything right or not. His partnership with Athena had been much smoother, because he didn't have the same connection with Nari that he had with Athena...and that bothered him, but it didn't at the same time.
He did not have much time to think that far into his thoughts because a shout of pain interrupted his thoughts. He moved quickly, knowing the voice quite well and cursing himself internally. If Nina found out that her daughter was injured on his watch...well, she wouldn't do anything. From what he had heard from his sister she believed that everyone had to learn their mistakes through lessons they learned, and if something had happened to Danica then this would have been a new learning experience for her. His step did not flatter though, because soon he was in the shadows watching. Titan, who was in training to become the next healer, seemed to have the situation under control, until it came to the golden rod. Luckily, Ash had witnessed his sister in work quite a few times and this herb was one in particular that she had worked with. So dissolving out from the shadows, much like a ghost, he cleared his throat and spoke clearly, "You chew the herb into a poultice and then spread it across her wounds." He remained silent then, watching from a far as he waited for the apprentice to continue with his work.

(You guys may skip Nari for a few turns / I'll be busy playing Titan for the rest)
Narime grudgingly did as Titan asked turning to look about the cavern for cobwebs. Fortunately for the cave wolves there were cobwebs aplenty throughout the place. She was able to quickly roll a large ball of cobwebs around her right foreleg while looking around the main room. As the gray wolf slunk through the darkness she appeared back by the caverns mouth where she caught the tag end of Titan's question.
"I'm sorry I don't know anything about goldenrod, but here is a ton of cobwebs for you to use. If you need more I can hop over to the next tunnel and gather more." Nari answered as she narrowed her gaze on Titan while he laid out three piles of herbs. Then her ears twitched as the queen heard Ash describe how to use the goldenrod. She twitched her head to the side her blue eyes noting the wraith step out form the shadows so much like how her son Yuka did these days. Her concerned look swept passed the bulky male hoping that Ash's niece would end up okay. Then she looked back to Titan and pawed the cobwebs off her foreleg into a ball near the three larger clumps of herbs sitting away from Danica.
Stepping back to allow the dark wolf his own space, Nari wondered curiously why he had six piles of herbs now. Two piles of each herb were laid out with the smaller piles by Danica's face. It took Nari a second before she realized that Titan was going to be giving Danica the three smaller bundles. Why'd he take so much out then if that was all he needed? She kept the question to herself hoping not to distract the young male as he worked. Though Narime hoped that no crashes of thunder and lightning would strike as Titan worked with @Danica's wound.
(Skip her till the end) [/dohtml] RE: To the Heart we Trust - Danica - Jul 19, 2014 When Narimé first approached and touched her Danica had panicked. Her head shot up as she attempted to stand, putting pressure on her leg. Her teeth were clenched as she pushed her eyes lids tightly together. Then a soothing and familiar voice entered her ears. The girl quickly realized then that she was in no danger...well, kind of. Slowly she lowered herself back down to the cold hard surface. "I-I was hunting when the storm came...tried to jump over a fallen tree...being stupid." She gave her the short story in a pained voice. "It hurts." She complained to the older female. Looking up she momentarily met her gaze. Then Dani laid her head down. The creamy pale girl hadn't truly calmed till Titan came. At his touch she moved so that she could watch him. His mother spoke to him, but she barely listened. Dani's attention was on the young man, and her searing pain. She whinned miserably and put her head on her front paws. Titan then answered Narimé with too many herbs, at least, to her. Her orbs went wide and a panicky feeling filled her. Was she going to live?! Would she get to see her mum again?! What about her father, who she had recently seen? What about Iopah? Ashton? Frost? Hollow? Her birth pack? Gent? And everybody?! She had began to breathe faster, heavier, and louder. Emerald green eyes were big with fear. Then she relaxed, his voice reached her ears and she nodded. Danica fully trusted Titan. Even if she wasn't sure how much training he had, she believed him. She would be OK and able to do whatever she wished when healed. The yearling whinned softly as he left her there. It wasn't long before he returned and she paid close attention to what he was doing. He sorted the herbs first by type, then put smaller piles in front of her. She looked at the two, recognizing Ergot. Tentatively she munched on the plants, starting with the unfamiliar one. Once done she noted an odd unpleasant burring sensation. Casting a sideway glance to her friend, she questioned, "Is it normal to feel a burning?" Her voice held uncertainty and worry. Her stumoach chruned when Titan revealed he did not know about Goldenrod. Narimé had no clue either...then she heard him. Ash came from the shadows before she could react. He knew. She was safe...but the pain still remained, if not numbed some. Danica watched as his mother got the cobwebs off of herself. Was Titan going to put those nasty dirty webs on her? Oh man, she hoped not. RE: To the Heart we Trust - Titan - Jul 19, 2014 OOC: will be putting the goldenrod on in the next post then we can all exit/fade out :) [dohtml] The dark lad bit his lip as Danica mentioned the burning sensation. He hadn't taken the time to pick out the grains from his ergot pile. However, as he looked to the wound and tentatively began cleaning it Titan realized that she wasn't bleeding badly. Which means its working I hope... He thought while cleaning around the edges of the wood and making sure the dirt and mud was off of her wound.
Titan looked towards his mother still hoping she knew how to use goldenrod, but to his utter despair she didn't. His heart fluttering about in his chest Titan looked back down to Danica as a second voice spoke up. The scent of Ash wafted past his muzzle. For once Titan was extremely glad to see the alpha male, and happier still that he knew how to use the goldenrod. For an instant Titan's tail wagged as he glanced to the bulky man and nodded appreciatively.
Now that the wound was clean all he could do was try to remove the wood from her leg and muscles. Though as he thought about doing it Titan realized that if he were the one this was being done to he would not be sitting still for it.
"If somebody can hold her down while I get the wood out that will help a lot." He looked at the adult wolves gathered around watching. Honestly Either wolf would work since both his mother and @Ash were large enough to hold @Danica down.
Once someone had her held down Titan began gently trying to remove the wood. The splayed end that he maneuvered his jaws around had obviously been chewed through. The dark wolf was careful not to get his eye on the numerous splinters sticking out of the end. Moving the stick just a little to see how loose it was, the young wolf realized that he would probably have to angle it upwards a bit before pulling with more strength. As he did so he braced himself for Danica's pain and hoped the wolves were holding her down. With a soft sucking sound the wood came out of her wound leaving splinters in its wake. Shivering as he held the wood in his jaws Titan moved his head quickly and tossed the thing over his shoulder out near the opening of the cave.
Titan licked the wound clean once more, making sure not to lick the wrong way and push the splinters further in. He had a bit more experience pulling out little splinters like these for he had more than once ran into trees by accident when he was younger. Delicately Titan removed every single last tiny piece of wood from the wound before glancing to the goldenrod and figuring out what to do next. RE: To the Heart we Trust - Ash - Jul 21, 2014 [dohtml] He was glad that his instruction was needed and he briefly glanced over at Narimé to take in her gray form before looking back towards his injured niece. He remained near the trees, not moving unless he was specifically asked for. Eventually he was though, in order to remove the piece of wood from his niece's leg, pressure was required. Not at all hesitant to help, he moved toward the leg that had the wood stuck in. Moving his head towards Nari, he softly instructed her to keep Danica's upper body still. He placed a stern paw on the injured leg while watching and listening to the wood being pulled from his sister's child. Nina would need to be told of this immediately, and he would send one of their trusted members, perhaps even Titan so that he could get in a lesson while informing his sister of what had happened to her child.
Eventually, the wood was dislodged from the yearling's leg, and blood readily gushed out of the wound. Grabbing the cobwebs and pressing them down onto the wound, Ash addressed the apprentice quickly, "Now, while I apply pressure to the wound, I need you to chew the goldenrod into a poultice. Be extra careful to not swallow because you will be tempted to because of the sweet taste. After chewing it enough, I will remove the cobwebs and you'll need to apply the medicine to Miss Reinier." He remained calm, his mossy green eyes watching the boy carefully to make sure that he was doing everything correctly. He wanted his niece to be in the best condition possible, and that meant with a quickly healing injury. The only question in his mind was: where the hell was Kassander?
Table by PuppyThief RE: To the Heart we Trust - Kassander - Jul 21, 2014 Late Kass!!! Hover for translation. All information about herbs and usage and location based off of the flora and fauna guide. [dohtml] The man had been off the territory near the lagoon looking for herbs and had been heading back with a run to store the hellebore and psilocybin mushrooms. When he finally arrived back at the cave and his eyes widened. The scent of blood had filled the air and he saw an unconcious Danica surrounded by Titan, Ash, and Nari. "O yebat'. Kakogo cherta zdes' proizoshlo?" He demanded in a rush as he ran to examine the wounds. He put the herbs down next to him and examined the situation. He leaned down to see how far the puncture wound had gone and to his dismay it had pierced the muscle. She had to be in so much pain at the moment, as if it wasn't already obvious that she was. He took a small bit of the hellebore he had collected, enough to help with the pain, and gave it to Danica. "Eat for pain." He commanded as he looked to what his apprentice was doing. If this was what was going to happen whenever he left to restock then he was going to send Titan on the farther away missions while he resided within the territory for emergencies. Man, was he going to die for this one. Even he knew that an absent healer was no damned use to anyone. Ash had given instructions about what to do to Titan but Kass also jumped into action as he chewed up the herbs himself. He'd applied them before and once had done so he looked to Ash to remove the cobwebs so he could apply it. He'd done it out of instinct alone. |
