Obviously, Minka wasn't happy with him pressing the issue, and for that small part Gent could not blame her. Yet she did so with a level of grace, being patient with him and clearly choosing consciously not to take affront to his digging questions, and this helped to ease him, but only a little bit. When she spoke, his ears pressed forward, nearly quivering in anticipation. Perhaps it wouldn't be any level of severity tomorrow for Minka, but this was something that would surely stick with Gent. It mattered what exactly she had to say.




As she spoke, he was able to relax a little bit more, though still he did not fully agree with her. For him, what they would have done with Chemical would have earned that loyalty, would have earned his whole family's loyalty. That was what his father had taught him, after all. The best way to tie a wolf to you was to make them indebted to you. Life was nothing but trading benefits. Wasn't it?



He supposed her choice did make a bit of sense, though it all sounded rather paranoid to him. Still, as she referred to personal experience, he expected that maybe she had a solid point that neither he nor his father had yet lived through. With a sigh, he glanced back to see if Chemical had perhaps hung around, but the boy was gone. What a waste.



"Alright," he mumbled then, and followed behind her as the two returned to their home.
