Through thick and thin... - Koda - Nov 12, 2012 [dohtml] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/bluepups/KodaTable.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding-top: 200px; padding-bottom: 20px; padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 15px; text- align:justify;"> Determination filled Koda as he left Nina sleeping peacefully. She needed every moment of rest after an emotion filled day like yesterday on top of all of her physical injuries. They had many days left of travel, maybe as much as a week, slowed as they were by her incredibly weakened state. If he could at least return to her side with a decent meal, the going would be that much easier for them both. Although he would never let it show, his shoulders and muscles ached from supporting her, yet he loved each time their fur mingled with the contact. His belly was also pinched with hunger, from such meager fare as he'd managed to catch so far. His rich chocolatey ears perked up as he heard a whisper of sound up ahead. His nose twitched as he scented the air and almost barked out loud with excitement. A lone deer. Perhaps his hunting luck had taken a turn for the better... Quickly settling into hunting mode, the pale wolf sank low to the ground and slowly made his way forward, gaining ground on his prey. A bleating sound greeted him as he saw the carcass of a doe on the ground, perished of natural causes it seemed. A thin, yet solid fawn of several months stared at him with terrified eyes. It wouldn't leave it's mothers still form, yet it couldn't survive on it's own quite yet. Either way, the youngster would perish. He would make it quick and the fawn would give great sustenence to he and his love. With quick movements, he charged forward and the fawn soon joined his mother. Feeling better for his success and thankful for the bounty, he made his way back to where he'd left Nina. Quickly he made his way over to her, dragging his prize. For a moment, he lost himself looking into her beautiful emerald eye and he let the intense feelings that she awoke in him wash over him. Then he remembered his purpose and he laid the carcass near her head. He licked her cheek, nuzzled her affectionately and announced, "This morning, we feast my love!" Through thick and thin... - Nina - Nov 15, 2012 OOC: Sorry it is so short. Lightning isn't feeling well. [dohtml] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/bluepups/NinaTable.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding-top: 312px; padding-bottom: 20px; padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 15px; text- align:justify;"> It was odd at how her morning continued on. When she heard something heavy being carried, her head turned upwards, her head tilted slightly to the side. What was going on here? A small smile grew on her face as her mate walked forward, a growing ache in her heart for him to be close to her. The pull did not cease, nor did it help her cause of trying to move. She knew she should stay still. . .and so she did, until of course, Koda came closer to her. Her front paws pushed upwards, a sharp intake of breath escaping her due to the pain it caused her. Gently reaching out, she brushed muzzles with him and looked at the catch that he had managed by himself. Her ears twitched and a small smile was brought upon her face. Her head turned up to look at him and her soft, raspy voice greeting him, "Good morning. . .and thank you very much. Take your pick, dear." Her green eye blinked at him and a smile lit up her scarred face. She would wait for him to pick the meal. Through thick and thin... - Koda - Dec 09, 2012 [dohtml] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/bluepups/KodaTable.png); background-position:top center; background-repeat:no-repeat; padding-top: 200px; padding-bottom: 20px; padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 15px; text- align:justify;"> Koda smiled at Nina when she greeted him, but soon frowned at the bit of pain she caused herself. He hated that she hurt and wished with every fiber of his being that he could strip to pain away from her, as if it had never been. Dark anger seethed beneath the surface for her brother. His crazy thinking was the cause of this and Koda wished for nothing more than to decimate the other male... make him hurt as Nina hurt. A totally foreign part of himself that he'd never even known existed wanted to watch to other male suffer and revel in his pain. Taking a deep breath, he calmed himself once more. It seemed a frequent ritual now, pushing his anger and hatred for Ash back and allowing Nina's goodness and love to lift him out of the abyss of anger and guilt. He nuzzled her gently, whining softly with worry. When she told him to choose his meal a true smile broke free and he laughed silently to himself. Here she was, still just on this side of death and she worried for him first. Without a thought, he turned to the young fawn and made short work of freeing the heart and liver and setting them down before her. "For you, my love," he said simply. She would need the extra nutrients for healing and there was more than enough succulent young meat for them to both eat their fill. With that, he lay down next to her and began to sate his own belly. He kept an eye on her and when she was nearly done, he would rip more strips of meat off of the carcass for her, so all that she had to do was enjoy and save her energy for traveling. When they were done, he licked his muzzle clean, fully sated for the first time in days. He hoped that Nina was feeling better. Although he hated the idea of leaving her, he would feel better when she was under the care of a proper healer. Shifting closer, he began to carefully bathe her wounds his long pink tongue. Moments of contented silence went by and then he asked her, "What will you tell your pack?" She was so far from home and would be gone so long, he hoped that they would be tolerant and not expel her from the pack. He'd seen it happen to others for far less. Either way, he would take care of her, but it would break her heart if they turned her away. Through thick and thin... - Nina - Dec 11, 2012 OOC: We should probably wrap this thread up soon. :) <3 [dohtml] Her good eye glowed faintly at him as she settled back down, putting all her weight into the ground so that she didn’t have to support herself. He was so sweet…catching her a meal, and it made her think about how she was going to be able to survive with the incapability to hunt? She sighed in content when he put some of the fawn in front of her, and she gratefully smiled at him before quietly waiting for him to start before digging into her own meal. She did not eat savagely, but she did eat everything that was given to her. She was hungry. There was no denying the facts as she dug into the meal. It was not before long that Koda came over to clean her wounds, and she relaxed further at his touch as she ate the other strip of meat he took off for her.
His question caught her off guard, but it didn’t take her long to reply after she thought about it for a short time period. Her voice was low, and slightly broken, "Tell them the truth. If they don‘t believe me then I am going to come and find you." She licked her paws clean quietly as she waited for her words to register to him in a comfortable silence that she could easily tolerate. Her tail curled around her body, patches of fur missing from certain places and all she could do was sigh in sadness. Her own brother had maimed her and had been on the verge of ending her life. She knew she would have to get over it though, life would have to go on. And she had loved ones to help her in her time of need.
RE: Through thick and thin... - Koda - Dec 27, 2012 (Sure thing... I hope you don't mind a bit of a time skip then, to move things along...) As he waited for her answer, laying comfortably by her side, he could only marvel at the love that filled him and the way that she seemed to make him whole just by loving him. A feeling of such joy and contentment filled him to overflowing at the thought that she was his mate. His love, for life and beyond. He never thought that he could find such happiness and yet here it was, wrapped up in a golden brown fae that loved him as no other. Their affections had grown so much and so fast that it seemed as if they had always known and loved one another, merely needing to find each other to be complete. When she answered, his heart contacted, first with pain that her pack might not accept her and then with love that she would come to him if the worst came to be. He hated the thought of the pain she would feel at being cast out, but thrilled to the thought of her being by his side forever. He knew that Destiny had a plan and he would somehow, someday have her all to himself. Fate could not bring them together, only to keep them apart. It would be far to cruel. He nuzzled her to comfort her fears about her pack's reaction. They were days away yet from Copper Rock Creek and that would all work itself out when the time came. He almost wished that he hadn't asked, but he thrilled to the idea of her one day being with him, no matter how long they had to wait. After a few moments, he sighed and reluctantly said, "It is time for us to depart, my love." The days seemed to fly by as they made their way slowly and painfully back to her pack. They rested often to allow for Nina's injuries and savored every moment that they had together, talking and just being near each other. It would have to last them for a long while and Koda treasured every moment. It was morning once more and they were close... only a few hours at most from the borders of her beloved pack. The large male found it incredibly difficult to make the call for them to move out for the day. Every time that he thought about leaving her, his eyes burned and he had to look away from her to keep her from seeing his pain. She could not see him weak, for he would ever be her strength. RE: Through thick and thin... - Nina - Dec 27, 2012 [dohtml] She knew it was time to depart soon…so when Koda suggested it, she knew she shouldn’t have complained. In a sense, she didn’t. It was more of her body begging her to lay down and take a break for a long time and just sleep. She knew she couldn’t though. Aeylen would need her…it was almost spring and the alpha female would need the healer more than ever. Nina would make sure she would be here too…she couldn’t leave the female behind. It was that motivation that caused the golden brown healer’s body to move.
For her, the days seemed to drag on, one by one, coming closer and closer for home that she longed for. She knew she wanted to stay with Koda, but the longing to be with the rest of her family and to be able to protect them against diseases was strong. They needed her and she hadn’t been there in a long time, due to her continued injuries. It was now only a few more hours of continuous travel until she would be home…she would once again be complete. She longed to see young Kashikoi…she hadn’t had a lesson for him in so long…he needed one too.
The last few hours, it seemed, did not drag by…perhaps it was because she didn’t want to leave Koda and that her nerves seemed to be getting worse by the second. Her tail flicked behind her quickly, the pain in her body almost making her feel numb. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling, and as she approached her long missed borders, she turned to Koda, reaching out to nuzzle him before looking back into her own territory. "I must go. Until next time, my love," and with her final words she would reach out and lick his cheek, before turning and limping slowly back into the forest…her home, of Copper Rock Creek.
RE: Through thick and thin... - Koda - Dec 28, 2012 The last few hours to reach Copper Rock Creek borders dragged at him and all he wanted was to turn around and keep his sweet Nina to himself. He knew that was just not an option, especially when he saw her quiet excitement as they approached her home. She loved her pack dearly and never ceased to worry about them. She was loyal to them, no matter their affections for each other. He also knew that it would soon be time for him to join Elettra and her new pack. His steps felt heavy and sluggish with his reluctance to part with her, yet before he knew it they were there and Nina turned to nuzzle him and bid him farewell. Koda couldn't bring himself to say goodbye, so he just pushed his muzzle into her neck and breathed deeply of her scent. Then he stepped back, his golden eyes sweeping over her form and then meeting her emerald gaze. He memorized every detail before she turned and slowly moved away from him and back to her pack family. He felt as if his heart was leaving with her and he couldn't take his golden eyes off of her retreating form. Dark green flecks danced in them with his heightened emotions, but there was no one to see anymore. His mate was back home and he was alone once more. Then the trees hid her from view and he reluctantly turned southward, where he knew that Elettra would eventually call for him and the others that had promised to follow her. Despite his heavy heart, Koda knew that the love that he and Nina shared would stand the test of time and distance. They would always be there for one another, through thick and thin... their love would survive. (fade to black...) |
