RE: Another day, Another goat - Kajika - Apr 06, 2018

Rabbits, squirrels, and other small prey would be good for the pregnant mother's throughout the day when they needed something to eat. Having Solas and Bastet out catching larger prey together like goats and deer would be more beneficial to the pack as a whole. The more they could bring back the better. “Please do, ik sure she will be willing to help.” All the conversations he’d had with her hadn't given him the feeling she'd say no.

Kajika kept pace with Solas as their steps became quicker across the terrain. He let the other man lead since he knew where they were going. The goats pale forms against the rocks came into view soon enough and Amber eyes scanned the herd for the doe that his packmate had spoken of. He soon saw her and glanced to Solas giving a nod that her seen her. Kajika followed the man as he slunk down low to the ground so they could infiltrate the herd without being noticed too soon. His eyes never leaving his target of the doe that seemed completely unaware of what was happening.

Going hunting with Bastet would be a good plan. There would be pups on the way and the more they stored the less they had to worry about food and the more they could focus on keeping the pups safe and sound.

When Kajika nodded Solas instantly lowered himself so that his belly brushed the ground and slunk towards the goats. The two of them had darker pelts and that would help keep them from being spotted to soon. His gaze flicked back and forth between their chosen prey and the herd, looking for any sign that the two of them were on the verge of being discovered. Solas wanted to be rather close to them before that happened and it was looking good so far.

A sharp grin flashed across his face as they neared the goats. His pace slowed down the closer they got and he could feel his heart thudding in his chest as they reached the point where he felt that they could begin the 'surprise attack', almost between the herd and their doe. A glance along with a toothy grin was given to Kajika before the stormy male sprang into action with a loud growl he lunged at the unaware goats, who all seemed stunned for a second before they began to run away from the wolves that had appeared in their midst.

Having Solas and Bastet, both very capable wolves, out hunting he was sure they would bring in plenty of food. It would also take a little off him so that he could give more attention to Birtie and other needs of the pack. With that settled they had a hunt to conduct.

He'd given the signal for them to begin and infe he'd lowered his body until he was crawling toward their target Solas followed suit. Kajika always watching for signs that they might need to move sooner than expected. He hoped that they wouldn't and that their plan would go of without a hitch making it all go very quickly. The alpha almost held his breath as they came closer to the herd buy it didn't seem they had been discovered just yet, that was good news.

A look was given to his companion in which he found the man grinning at him. A moment later Solas was springing forward to scare the herd. Without hesitation Kajika too spring forward now being close enough to the goat they had chosen. Sprinting he soon lunged and had a grip in the back of her neck. His massive size weighing her down enough to slow her movements. All he had to do was wait for Solas to return.[/dohtml]

RE: Another day, Another goat - Solas - Jun 09, 2018

For the briefest moment, the goats had seemed surprised by the sudden appearance of two wolves in their midst before they realized that there were two wolves among them. Solas took that brief moment to lunge at them and in general make a racket so that they would run instead of trying to help the goat that was their intended target. His commotion worked and the goats scattered almost tripping over each other in order to get away.

Sure that they wouldn't be coming back he turned to help Kajika as he clung to the struggling goat. Racing forward Solas ran to the side that Kajika hung from and snapped at the goat's back leg, using the other males form to try and hide his presence so that he could effectively take out the goats leg. The taste of fresh blood in his mouth was his reward and it meant that the goat wasn't going to be able to escape them either. Holding on Solas pulled back trying to throw the goat off balance enough that it fell and potentially hurt itself more in the process.

Kajika hadn't wasted any time in getting a grip on the goats neck. Then he held on his weight preventing her from going very far as she struggled to get away from him. Out of the corner of his eye he watched the rest of the herd scatter trying to get away from the two wolves as fast as they could. The alpha was surprised none of the others hurt themselves in the process of trying to escape as they tripped over each other. Through it all he didn't let go, even as the blood started to flow into his mouth.

Then finally he saw a flash of light grey as Solas returned to help him going to the rear of the goat. Kajika didn't know what he was doing but the goats struggles seemed to slow some then before he knew what was happening the goats legs buckled causing her to go down. He went with her not wanting to take the chance on her regaining her feet and getting away from him. He was practically laying on her after that but his weight kept her down.

It seemed that his added weight did the trick in bringing the goat to the ground. A flailing leg caught him in the side and Solas let go and jumped back in case he was going to get kicked again. Kajika hung on though and stuck to the goat-like glue. His weight helping to hold the old goat down. The stormy male shifted around to the other side of his companion to were her head was.

Deciding that she seemed stunned, maybe she hit her head on a rock as she fell over, Solas decided to go straight for her throat and end her suffering as well as their hunt. The moment his fangs pierced flesh she started to struggle more but Solas held on. They only had a little ways to go and then it would be over and there would be fresh meat for the pack.

It seemed to take forever before her struggles finally slowed before then stopped. The hunt was over and they had been successful.

The alphas only focus was on the goat and making sure that she didn't get it in her head to go anywhere. He was thankful when she seemed to have stunned herself in the fall because her struggling had stopped. Despite that he didn't relax his grip in that moment in case she woke up, he didn't want her to catch him off guard.

He doubted she would get very far but they had her tight where they wanted her to why take the chance. As he held on his weight still on top of the goat he watched as Solas came in for the final act. The subordinate went for her throaty and Kajika braced himself for the struggling that soon followed. It seemed more intense and lasted a little longer than the alpha thought they would but it was soon over. Her suffering had been ended and they now had fresh meat to get back to the pack.

Once the goat was dead Kajika released her and moved away to sit down for a moment. He caught his breath before speaking, “Guess we better get her back to the cove soon.”

Once the goat's struggles were done Solas let go and took a step back panting. A grin was on his face, while his tail swayed behind him, as he looked to Kajika to see how he had faired. It didn't appear that hanging onto the goat while she fell had done any damage to him and for that the stormy male was glad. Still panting he nodded in silent agreement at his companion's words.

If they didn't get her back to the Cove soon then they would attract other predators that may or may not try and steal their prize away from them. Not that they would have a very good chance against two wolves. Knowing this Solas glanced around to see if the struggle had drawn any unwanted attention and didn't see anything stirring. He didn't even see the other goats anymore.

"Whenever your ready." Solas told him, and when Kajika felt that he had rested enough the two of them could drag the goat back to the waiting pack.

Kajika opened and closed his mouth a few times after he'd let go of the goat. Having to grip the goat as tightly as he had the alpha needed to stretch his jaws a little. He soon caught his breath and pointed out they should get the goat back to the cove. The last thing he wanted to do was draw the attention of anyone thinking they could steal their catch.

He looked to his companion who was also panting but nodded in agreement. He hadn't any doubt that Solas would agree, the two of them were usually in agreement about things. Kajika nodded at the man's words, “Just as soon as you've caught your breath then."

Amber gaze surveyed the area to check for any other predators or scavengers to make sure they were still in the clear. The goats were gone, he didn't expect them back any time soon. Then when Solas seemed to be getting his breathing under control he moved to grab the goat so they could take her back to the cove.
