Vaken responded with startling prowess, and the shadowy boy had to struggle to hold his own. His fangs cut deeper as he lost control. He knew his weakness, his mediocre balance, but he still couldn't topple him. His friend had been training, Ferreiran realized. Finally they broke apart, and he was introduced to Circe. He nodded in greeting as he got his breath. "How'd you get so tough? he asked the blond youth. He was impressed with his ferocity and power. This was a very different wolf from the last time he had seen him. He wasn't worried about surviving, in fact he was thriving in the adversity. What had happened, and could Ferreiran become that strong too?
