oh yeah you know who you are - Inkheart - Jun 06, 2013

@Elettra , this is set at the base of riddle heights, entering from the Lost Lake perimeter.

From the day he was born he had been a wanderer, gifted with the spirit of a nomad. It was a great thing to be given yet it could also be a burden, something that his mother had told him he had acquired from his father. An unfortunate trait that Inkheart sometimes believed was a burden, but sometimes it would shine and give him the chance to see the brilliance. His wandering spirit allowed him to see many places that his eyes could have never imagined but it also set him back immensely when it came to the future he thought he would have had by now. Being at the head of a pack, with a wife and children were now the backburner inside of his head. After realizing all the things he had walked away from the first time in Relic Lore, he wasn’t about to give up.

Though, he didn’t really remember too much from being here other than the few wolves he met, talked to and otherwise simply passed in his travels. Obviously he remembered Amelie but the rest were distant blurs in his memories, guarded heavenly whenever he tried to retrieve them. Part of the reason as to why Inkheart had come so far from Magnolia Glen was to clear his head and continue to explore the land, hoping to gather more information on packs in the area. This time, however, the information would simply be for himself and the pack instead of looking for one to join. Phineas and Borlla were providing more than enough for the swarthy male.

It was a beautiful day, clouds hanging in the sky scattered like popcorn in a movie theater and Inkheart could not have wished for better weather. It was not unbearably sweltering but just cool enough that he didn’t have to stop frequently to find a place to drink. Unsettled orange eye gazed up to the top of the mountain, having figured that there was water atop it from the growing grass upon the time and the tell-tale signs that life was growing upon the mountain. That always meant there was a source of water. Testing the air, he leaned a fore paw up onto the base of the Mountain, contemplating going up as well as how long it would take him.

It was the farthest she had gone since her children's birth. Staying in the den for even the few weeks she had made her anxious, snappy and eager for the outside world. Already her children during their time within her and during their critical moments of newborn life had taken away a season for which she enjoyed the most. With the weather still cool and the new flowers and herbs growing, it was this time of year she would have explored the most as a healer, scouting the lands for everything of use. Now with the children at a month old, Elettra set her goal further then wondering from the den to the territory edge and back merely to stretch her limbs. She was never gone long and when she was there was plenty to stand in her place and watch guard. After all, with her recent command to @Semananti all the members should know to at least have one member watching the den opening at all times as guard against the recent infestation of foxes about. Though she held an obvious bit of worry with her paranoia streak, the mother would not allow it to stop her from pressing forth. She needed to live a little to and Elettra Archer was by no means a mother to coddle her children. They would learn the dangers of the world quickly, as well as caring and fending for themselves. Time would make them wolves within the Archer name for others to be envious over.
With these thoughts in her head, Elettra does her best to ease herself as she moves out from her territories boarders and into open land. She moved east to where her home grew more and more rocky as it edged the footfalls of the mountains. She past up the small cave which was used as a storage den for the pack's herbs, giving a scent for the smell of dead herbs and faint hints of @Kiche who had long gone, leaving his placement as Leader and Father at the doorstep. The single mother moves a bit higher, bounding along the rocky path which would lead up to the mountain. It was the same path she had taken again and again, whether to the Lost Lake or the hot springs. She maintains low with no intention of scaling the mountains anytime soon. They were far to dangerous (after all, she encountered a mountain lion last time she went up there- pregnant) for her to risk injury whilst she had to be healthy and strong to nurse her children. Not to mention far too long of a trek them she was willing to spend away from said children. So she merely bounded around, moving her legs and twisting about her body to relief the pint of energy she had savored begrudgingly within the birthing den. For the time, she takes no notice to the other wolf; a dark blotch within the distance.

Inkheart was more or less a man than when had previously been here, not really remembering much of his stay other than a few wolves. Two in particular were memorable, that being Amelie and Skylah. Amelie was a bitter feeling left in his mouth but Skylah, well, he wished that he had not lost track of her and thus lost track of his desire to be with Relic lore. The loss of her had been devastating; they had been close friends that were going to create a pack together in Fireweed Rise but it appeared that some things changed all of that. Though in the present day he would have jumped at the idea of creating a pack, he knew he couldn’t do it now without the right wolves to follow. As it were, he barely knew anybody yet so it certainly wouldn’t work out.

As memories began to whirl in his head upon touching the Mountain’s side, he pulled himself back so that he could jump upon the closest ledge and begin his ascent north. Thoughts began to waver, finding that he consistently found images of Phineas and Zia within his mind. They were considered friends to him, the only companions he had made here as of yet though he did not mind. Phineas was of sound mind and would do well as a leader, his choice of second was probably his worst decision (Inkheart found his position quite surprising though it showed that Phineas trusted him, which was wise since Inkheart was a determined creature), but Zia was also of sound mind. She would prove well to be a decent friend and Inkheart would continue to admire her for a friend, if that was all that they would be in the future.

From past experiences he couldn’t simply ask what he wanted, take what he wanted nor could he do whatever he pleased. Magnolia Glen was home and he would simply make do with the things that he was given. At least he was provided the freedom of visiting the skirts of the territory so that he could respond back to Phineas with the highlights of the day and if herds were on the move. One flicker of movement ahead of him caused his attention to waver, orange eyes glued to the figure as it moved off from his direct path. A light bulb blinked inside of his brain, but burned out just as quick—who was she? Curiosity of adventure blooming inside of him, he followed after her.

Still she pushes on. Each movement with an easy footing over the rocky terrain as she bounds upwards along the edges of the cliff side, only to hop her way back down again in a seeming practice of balance and agility. For the moment, no scent of food crosses her senses and she knows this day a hunt will not be successful if she wishes to return home soon. Her hunt is mindless, a thing which she has done time and time again over the years of her life as she sniffs at the foliage as she passes, as her eyes of silver bright quality dance around the area. Herbs. She finds herself on a hunt if not for food, then for this. A little bit of something to take back home to make herself feel as though she had not wasted her time for a simple trek to stretch her muscles.
Her rounded hips takes a sway, a powerful step of long, strong limbs working out her energy. She passes a small cluster of Giant Blazing Star and takes a moment to sniff at them and wonder over their fullness and beauty. Though these large flowers are of no use to her and after a moment's passing over them she if off, her muzzle to the winds, pausing to take in the scent of the crisp air around her. And this is where she smells Inkheart: behind her, within the distance yet closing in quickly and ever more so now that Elettra has taken several pauses in her herbal search. For the time being, Elettra does nothing but to slow her pace and ready herself with possible confrontation.
Luck bestows the woman as she comes upon a group of Skunkbush. Though the leaves were bitter and nasty to the smell, great use could be taken by both the berries and the bark combined. The berries were red now, darkened with an age that may suggest they will not be of use for long, though she chews at the bark towards the base until she is able to rip away a limb and make off with her catch. By now, Inkheart as gained on her fully, enough to where now she turns sharply to stop and view him, eyes questioning and hard, her muzzle quivering yet still with the limb within her jaws. He is within a yelling distance and from here she could see his features more clearly and the bright intensity of his orange gaze - and his size. Yet another powerfully build man within the lands of Relic Lore, more and more common these days as the buzzards and the crows. She waits, silent, wondering what he wanted and more importantly, what he wanted from her.

Although his body continued to trek forwards towards the stranger, he wondered why he exactly he was doing it. There was no reason to chase after a stranger that paid him no mind at all so why was he following her? Perhaps it was his interest in the stranger or something urging him to see her face, but regardless of theory he was at a loss of reasons.

Even as she walked he felt his inner man stir, her hips moving in a sway as she walked among the flowers ahead. Geez, did she know there was a guy trailing her? Was she trying to rub it in his face or notifying him that he should present his presence to her? Shuffling his food forward still, he was making headway to her completely at ease with climbing the steady rocks. With the time in between being cut drastically by her slow movements, he began to question what he was going to say or do once he got there. It wasn’t like he knew who he was after; he simply felt the need to know who she was.

The fact alone remained: he felt like he knew her. Though years had passed and he didn’t remember her, something in him had trained her body alone into his mind. To him, she was a stranger but to his body she had been an unconventional sparring partner that he had never put a name to. It was then that it clicked. Her scent and the way her shoulders moved. Her size indicated presence, initiating the fight. He remembered. Did she?

Finally his thinking had to come to a close as he looked upon her, stride slowing down as he neared. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“You are a decent sparring partner,” he started off with finding that perhaps she might not remember their first encounter but perhaps she might know now. After all, he had never seen her in any other light other than the flash of teeth and the snapping of jaws and she the same, he assumed.

quality over quantity, kay? XD

She stares, holding her ground in the same dominant, prideful manner in which she had always held herself - high, and with a flickering of her tail upwards as though a banner of warning as he slowly made his approach, closer and closer yet. Her head lowers far to the ground, yet only to settle the branch she had held within her jaws, freeing them if they were need of other use. When he stops, he speaks, and for a time, she studies him: she now takes remembrance of the shifting of his muscles as he moved, the blood orange of his eyes, the curve of his jaw line which had burrowed in her fur and flesh once before. She shifts, her tail higher, tease, taunting, as perhaps she had done years before. "Obviously you do not remember clearly...." She pauses, only long enough for a wide smirk to form over her lips and a huffed laugh to then ease. "I whooped your ass."

<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">

It was odd, now that he had figured out who she was and why he had felt the urge to follow her. Perhaps Inkheart truly was a hideous stalker, as that was the majority of what he had done. Stalking those that he wished to know but perhaps didn’t know what to say once he was face to face with them—something he could work on. Though, it was clear now that he was here, he had no problem with facing her and finally being able to hear a voice instead of a jaws snapping. The female didn’t exactly give much away, but he felt a connection to her through their very brief crossing.

<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“Ha,” he snickered and shrugged his shoulders. Inkheart would not be boasting on a win or crush of a loss, he was mostly a gentle giant, and that sort of vanity was useless to him. If she wished to believe that she whooped his ass, then so be it. It mattered very little to him in the long run. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“As long as that notion keeps a smile on your face then yes, you whooped my ass.” To him, he didn’t exactly recall who exactly won other than that they had walked away at a draw. If she wished to argue now, he would leave her as he had before. Deep down he hoped that she might consider actually having a real conversation with him so that he could put a name to the woman who waved her hips at him from atop the slope.

"It does." She speaks, clarifying then that the manner was settled, as the smirk yet still toys at hr features and her eyes, a bright and eerie pale grey-silver, dance before the blood orange of his own. She remembered him as a quite dashing fellow, impressive in view and in action. They had spared no time for introduction nor any for goodbyes. He had been both daring and stupid that day, going against her, though no harm had come in their simple spar then cuts, scratches and torn fur. "I see your speaking well...." She would be left to wonder if he would understand the reference. Back then, they had been locked jaw and jaw within one another. Elettra had the advantage, her holding his lower jaw. The lower jaw could snap from the skull in ways the upper did not due to being most infused together then just hinging by muscle and tissue. Not to mention, her teeth having the ability to cut deep into his tongue. There was scars on the top of her mouth to this day, bothering her not when feeding, but enough of an indentation to remember him by.
Her tail twitches then, raising only to arch and wave even with her spine behind her. Limbs, long and sturdy, shift as she comes to settle down in a sit before the branches of herb and berry she had planned to take back home with her which was not at all far from here. "I assume you finally found a place for yourself?" Whether in a pack or leading one, he smelt of one none the less. It was new, foreign to her. She had not seen him in years and wonders now if he lived over the mountains, though did not negate his ability to have lived here under her radar. There was plenty of wolves within this side of the Lore she had yet to meet, pack members and rogues alike.

<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">

If she wished to believe or saw fit to believe that she had the upper hand in the fight, then he would let her. It would be of no use arguing with her over something he barely remembered. It was good that she remembered him at least, so that they could have a proper talk now. One that he welcomed since he barely knew anyone regardless of returning to a place he already knew. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“Hilarious,” he commented with a sly grin and a shrug of his shoulders, <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“didn’t feel the need to talk to a complete stranger.” Apparently talking to a complete stranger was how one made friends, or enemies for that matter. Inkheart didn’t think he had many of either and the fact that he chose silence answered that assumption.

<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“I did,” he answered as his fire-eyes gazed down at her assortment of objects, <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“in Magnolia Glen with Phineas and Borlla.” Inkheart was unaware of what he might have set himself up for, not knowing their relationship to one another, but simply thought that the name would be heard in passing. Surely she had heard of the Glen near the Creek and if she didn’t, she did now. His place there was steady and he would not want to risk abandoning them. He wouldn’t leave anyone this time, just as he planned to make things right with his life here. So far, after meeting up with this woman he felt he was doing a decent job.

"Everyone is a stranger at some point." She then clarifies. After all, the man would be left to live life as a loner for the rest of his days if he never felt like talking to a stranger. No friends, no allies, no pack. Which obviously was not the case for this man any longer. " ...I am still a stranger." Then goes on the tease, as he obviously wanted to talk to her now despite the fact, having trailed her off the mountain side and into the foothills not far from her home.
"...Phineas?" The name falls on her tongue, questionable and concerned. Her expression falls at a woman's name and her eyes soften, both pained and relieved to know he was well. So much for waiting for the right one, to not make the same mistake twice... He had left her and seemingly fell head long into another woman. Having been pregnant nearly all Spring and now still having to stick close to the territory due to he youth of her children, Elettra had wondered little outside of her lands in order to know of the recent packs having bloomed with the birth of Spring, new mates, children. Not to mention, one that was over the mountains. Elettra had not been there since invading the diseased wolf pack and had no intention of going back any time soon. She was after all, a single mother and a sole ruler and getting to the other side of the mountains would take days as it had prior. Ain't nobody got time for dat!
"He is well, then? I've not heard of his...accomplishment." She wants to know more. She wants to know where this 'Magnolia Glen' is located, what the lands are like, if he had pups this year, if he had found Shade and Rosealia. However, those questions falls in her gut, swirling around to leave her feeling ill. She would seem like a spy by the time she was finished with her interrogation of Inkheart and the pack he was now apart of. As simple as it was, Phineas and his doings were no longer any of Elettra's business, nor would they ever would be.
