in my head it all feels the same - Angier - Jun 15, 2013

[dohtml]
June 15th; Early morning; Light rain shower: 64° F/18° C

Since leaving the heart of Willow Ridge and making sure his monarch's children were well looked after and settled down for an afternoon nap, Angier Lyall had been restless. His skin prickled every time he thought she was near, and every time @Elettra did manage to come into view - perhaps just in passing or checking in with the pack by following their trails or by mere coincidence - he tried to slink away as though he had been unnoticed. His day to challenge @Guiness had yet to come; at present, this very moment, he was still foolishly setting his heart against his mind. Yes, he wanted Elettra for his own; but, then again, no, he wasn't quite sure he was ready to shoulder the burden that came with being her "keeper." It was complicated; it constantly set his ears back against his head and kept his hackles raised as though his senses were constantly on high alert.

He had run errands for {Alexander}, he had hunted for {Indru}, and he had even sworn loyalty to {Borden}, his brother and their family... Really, now, what was so hard to accept when it came to becoming Elettra's steward or, if fate ever allow it to come to be, mate?

The brawny man had to shake his head quickly from side to side. Since {Vlarindara}, Angier had had it in his head that he was not cut out to be anyone's mate. As much as he truly wanted to have his Leader for his own, he was somehow sure that she would deny him the chance. But, oh, what if he could prove himself?! What if?! The thought had his head spinning about in uneven circles just thinking of what there could be to gain at such a price...

He ultimately told himself to be patient; that there was much more to just challenging a brute such as Guiness. Proving himself time and time again to Elettra would have to do for now while he gained some sort of "resident status" within the pack. He had already come this far out to the borders of Willow Ridge, he might as well skip cache-counting and hunting today and opt to maintain his Lady's borders. With the rain and slight chill, he was sure he was going to waste much more energy searching than actually storing away small meals and snacks for his... family.

With his tail held straight out from his back and his head held low, he picked his way through the willows, keeping an eye out for anything out of line...

RE: in my head it all feels the same - Elettra - Jun 23, 2013

No reply from @Guiness or @Loath means Elettra shows up! Anyone else is still free to pop in, I assume. :3

A hesitance in @Angier Lyall had become obviously clear to Elettra Archer. It was well into the second month of the children's birth and yet still Angier had not made the challenge to take his placement as Lead at her side. Guiness was Second, with no intention of taking the mantel of ruling. He was a Guardian, a Protector, not a Politician. Not a Leader. The place was open, ripe and ready for the picking and yet perhaps the pressure of it all was far too much for Angier to bare. After all, the dark fae had wondered why he never questioned who was the father of the pups. Never mentioned his arrangement within the children's life if he truly wished to 'court' her. He had 'loved' her, he said, a past tense which still played at her mind and though she did not at all question his ability to serve her as a pack member, it became less and less likely he was willing to fight for her as a mate. She was not shocked. His pledge was a hard one made and Elettra would not make it an easy feat for him. Could not.
The rains toyed with her muzzle as they trickled along the bridge of her nose, seeped into the lush thickness of her black coat. The rainy day did not keep her at bay and she relished in the coolness of the air as the Spring was coming to an end by the heat of the Summer months - the worst and harshest of the season to her, she felt. Though Winter's food source was scarce and cold, there had been plenty within their pack to keep warm and well fed as they rested the Winter away. Summer was intolerable, hot, muggy, horrid. She was happy enough a woman that the home she had chosen provided much shade by the long hanging branches of the willow trees.
She breaths deep, the thoughts of her pack stirring in her mind. Of Guiness taking most of his time guarding the den and making sure the children were secure. Of Skana who spent much of her time in the main den, making sure the children could not escape by laying out like a log, blocking them. Tempest and Itai (though she had not seen her in some time and could only hope she was doing her duty) were hard on hunting for the pack and Kasai taking up mantel as the border patrol now with Loath to help in this area along with the hunt if he so chose. Everything was working out. Everything was secure. ...Savor the position as Lead male. Her thoughts wonder then once more to Angier... to Loath. He was a determined man. Seeking to reap the world of the weak and fool heart. Whatever his goal, she made it clear not to undermine her pack mates or allies. His eyes had been hungry, hungry for power and hungry for her. The latter being unknown, though perhaps it would come into the light in due time, Loath knowing of the lack of male Leadership within the ranks. Would Angier have to move even more quickly? Or would the challenge put a further stress upon him, to smash his intentions into the ground?

Elettra's eyes, eerie in pale grey hue, lift, and she sees him - Angier. He was less brooding now that she had been face to face with the pale God. Still, he was everything of the wolf she remembered and she could not help the small smile which creeps over his features. Though he was a man of little action, a part of her clung to the many promises he had made to her once upon a time ago.

The rain did not help to settle the black wolfs mood. He had woken up to find a hot, humid, and wet morning greeting him which had soured his day already. Rain always bothered the Tainn. Whether it was summer, Spring, or Fall Kasai hated having the drops of wet drench his fur sending chills down his spine. Summer was more tolerable for the dark male when it rained for summer meant heat, and rain would cool him down. However rain or sleet affected him more than his new companions for the drops would go right to his skin where the fur was burnt off in the fire. From there the water would soak through his undercoat making the man look slick, wet, and shiny. Rain was the only time the Kage would envy his pack mates thick protective coats of fur.

Even so the male had stuff to do and things to see. He tried to ignore the increasing heaviness of his pelt as it became drenched in the light rain. At least its not late fall and sleet. Then I would have to take shelter. He'd been caught once in that situation a long time ago and learned from that cold experience.

As the wolf trotted into Willow Ridge territory he noted the scents of his pack mates on the breeze. One scent made him wonder who was taking care of the pups right now. The dark wolf scented Elettra nearby along with another wolf he didn't care to smell. Sir Angier must be out trying to impress Elettra. The dark wolf huffed disapprovingly remembering how Angier had been The alpha females shadow during the later part of her pregnancy. Why should he care so much? He's not the alpha male yet... Kasai knew that the gray man had something for Elettra. Whether it be simply a liking to or actual love though the dark wolf was unsure. I hope I'm around to see when he challenges Guiness though. the burnt male wanted to see that fight/challenge for himself and hoped that Guiness wouldn't just hand over the second spot to Angier.

The two wolves shapes came into sight. Kasai noted the distance between them and wondered if he would be intruding somehow. Blatantly ignoring Angier, Kasai gave a woof of "hello" to the dark lady watching to see if she was unhappy or distraught with his presence.
"Speech."
