RE: Round Stone Crest Pack Thread - Gent - May 12, 2015

Gent approached the den site, two particular things on his mind. Both needed discussing with @Minka , and while the first proposition he felt completely confident in presenting to her, the second he wasn't so sure of. Firstly, he wanted an official role to work under within the pack until he was able to climb up to his desired position of alpha. While his main role had been tending to Lugh and substituting in his job as herbalist, he knew that his strengths truly lay in guardianship. After all, he felt fully confident that he could successfully juggle both responsibilities if needed by the pack. This argument would be easy and quick to make, and he didn't doubt that his leader would agree.

Coming to rest, he looked around him to give acknowledgement to any of his pack mates that may be passing through. Minka herself was not present, but that was to be expected with three extremely young and constantly hungry whelps to tend to. With a few inhalations, he pinpointed her location as not far, within the birthing den. Gent turned to face this direction, but did not draw near. He was hesitant to approach her when she was confined, simply due to the distress he had caused Kova when so recklessly assuming a role that was not his. Not yet his, anyways. Gent knew it might not be accepted by the pack, might not even be anticipated or properly received by Minka herself, but when the man wanted something, he couldn't be stopped.

What he was unsure about, was asking for permission to see Danica. Just the act of asking for permission bothered him enough. The chance of her saying no made things much worse, and he was unable to approximate what his chances were. Danica belonged to their enemies, and while a truce had been made, that didn't really improve the relations between the packs. He'd already told Minka though about his friendship with the young girl, and that she was pregnant. Hopefully, she would have an excess of compassion to offer him and allow him visitation to see her and her newborn. Ultimately, he just wanted to ensure that she was safe and well taken care of.

He let out a light bark, requesting Minka's attention before asking, "Minka, are you busy? Would I be able to have a quick word with you?"

The children were barely a week old now, eyes still shut they did little besides sleep and eat, though Draven and Ari seemed to quite enjoy squeaking as much as possible. Too young for the mother to go very far Minka had reserved herself to only sitting outside of the den when she needed some fresh air. Not that she was lonely, on the contrary the other members visited her often, usually bringing food with them as she couldn't travel to the caches herself. The only time the alpha truly left the den was to quench her thirst and even then she only left if all three pups were asleep and someone else stayed at the den to watch them.

Now the mother had just finished letting the pups suckle as they did every four to five hours and was trying to get them to settle for a nap. It was only when their bellies were full of warm milk that she was able to coax all of them into slumber, usually they slept in shifts. Nudging Kino softly with her nose until he too was in the deepest part of the den with his siblings she watched as they settled. First with cries of protest as they tried to keep their weary minds awake until slowly but surely their movements ceased besides the gentle rise and fall of their breathing.

Sighing softly Minka settled her own head upon her paws, ready to nap herself in peace when she heard Gent calling for her. Barking back that she heard him the alpha got the attention of the nearest subordinate (typically @Kova) and waited until they took over the den. Swiftly she made her way towards the main den, relishing the feelings of her muscles becoming more limber at the chance to stretch. Slowing her pace she took the dark form of the man before her, tilting her head to the right in indicate that he had the floor she awaited his message. After all she assumed this meeting had a purpose and she was ready to get right to it so she could return to her newborns.

RE: Round Stone Crest Pack Thread - Gent - May 12, 2015

Gent waited patiently after she answered his call for her to approach him. When her relaxed strides took her into his presence, he smiled at his leader, happily noting the good condition she was in.

"You look wonderful," he commented casually. Truly, she was glowing with motherhood. Gent had to stop himself from asking about the children. He didn't have time for idle chatter, no matter how interested he was in what she had to say about them. Cubs grew up so fast, and he hated the thought of missing a single beat. But he had other matters to attend to, and thus needed to be direct rather than wasting both of their time with trivial talk.

"I'm here to ask two things of you. First, I would like to be given the role of guardian, if you see fit. I think it would be the best allotment of my skills right now, and I can balance both guardianship and tending to Lugh with ease," was his offer, simple and to the point. The next was a tad bit more complicated, and he paused a second, taking a breath before pressing on.

"I also... would like your permission to visit Danica. If you remember, she's a yearling under Secret Woodlands care, and a dear friend of mine. She's also with child, and given everything that's happened, I don't even know if she's given birth yet... or if she's safe... and I would very much like to be able to see her."

RE: Round Stone Crest Pack Thread - Kova - May 12, 2015

Kova yanks his head up at the beckoning of his mother. She needed him for something and although he was sleepy Kova would try to help out the best he could. He was led to the tiny pups and given the job of watching them. Once Minka slipped away to do her business or get something to drink, Kova lowered himself beside his younger siblings and cuddled up next to them. He was still tired and groggy too.

Lowering his head onto his paws and settling it next to the little fluff balls of Draven and Kino, Kova rested along side them barely keeping himself awake while Minka was gone.

When she had first accepted gent into the pack he had seemed almost surprised with her friendly nature towards her subordinates but she was glad to see he was settling into it now. Offering her own smile in return to the warm one he had sent he it only grew at his compliment, "Thank you Gent, I thought by now I would look exhausted." She chuckled at the end of her comment, truly the children slept in shifts which meant that she herself hardly got any good slumber. Still every moment that she spent with them was a gift, especially Kino who had already taken hold of her heart like a vice grip. Though she loved all of her pups equally his platinum pelt and quiet nature made it hard for the woman to let him out of her sight. She had already lost her husband, she would do anything to keep his look alike son where she could keep him safe.

The smile faded as the dark man began to speak of his requests, her eyes were still warm with fondness but her expression reflected how seriously she took his words. His first request was easy, she knew that despite his excellent care of @Lugh Gent still made time to do border patrols. Even more she knew that he had bested both Bane, their official guardian, and Loki at combat which spoke volumes of his sparring skill. The next request wasn't as clear to her and the woman tilted her head to the right as she did her best to clearly weigh out both sides. Her gut reaction was to immediately deny him his request because of what had so recently happened with @Inali, the mess that personal relationships had caused them. Then again the Woodlands were not declared enemies as the Caverns were, and Danica was expecting and had given them valuable information in the past.

Straightening her cranium Minka looked back upon her subordinate as she spoke, "Very well, I name you Gent Lieris the newest guardian of Round Stone Crest. As for your visit to Danica, permission granted on two conditions, one every visit you make to her has to be approved first and anything that might be of slightest importance reported back to me. The second is you will breath not a word of our whereabouts to her, even if she asks. The Woodlands may not be our enemy anymore but their allies are and I would prefer they stay in the dark as to where our territories lay." Golden eyes stayed trained on the dark face, would he accept the terms or would he reject them and betray them as Inali had?

RE: Round Stone Crest Pack Thread - Gent - May 18, 2015

Thankfully, Minka's melodic voice graced his ears with good news on both counts. He felt a form of pride stir within his chest as she ordained the title to him; under Naira's rule and as a yearling, he'd been so very far from being able to hold any respectable rank, much less an official role within the pack. The progress he was making in this pack starkly contrasted his past experiences, and it only served to make him all the more dedicated to Minka, Round Stone Crest, and it's keepers.

"Thank you," he rumbled, a small and friendly smile on his lips as, with Minka's issued demands, he felt the business end of the short meeting was finished. Her conditions were easy for him to meet, as he would most likely have undergone both actions regardless. What with the children, he wouldn't want to venture outside of the pack far nor often, and certainly not without ensuring that Minka both knew where to find him and that she was properly guarded, aka no one else was taking any trips simultaneously. As for information, he not only considered divulging all important information to his alpha as part of his service in allegiance to the pack, but would also like to maintain an image of Danica that was favorable and useful as she had proved to be in the past what with the wealth of intelligence she had passed to both himself and Raela.

”Absolutely. You and the pack always have my loyalty first most,” he assured her with a resolute nod.

He then dipped his cranium and took a step backward, respectfully ducking out of their conversation.

”I’ll leave you to return to the children. Thank you for your time, Minka.”

The meeting seemed to be drawing to a close, it had been swift but useful on both of their accounts. Her pack had gained another guardian, a useful role that would serve to keep all of the members as safe as possible especially her children. In return Gent had gained an official title as well as granted permission to travel farther than was of a typical nature. If only Inali had been so smart as to request to visit her other ties, maybe then they wouldn't be in the situation that they were now. It didn't matter now, the scout had made her bed and now she had to lay in it, wherever that bed may be.

Nodding as the dark man swore his loyalty once more she uttered her own farewells, "And for your loyalty I am always grateful, you have proven time and time again to be an asset to the pack." Then once more she smiled swiftly, maybe for the first time noticing how handsome the other man was. The pride that shone on his dark face brought out the stark contrast that was his blue eyes and for just a moment she considered asking him back to the den to spend time with the children. The moment was quickly broken as the wind changed and Kova's scent reached her nostrils, how could she be thinking such things? Her husband and the father of her children had been dead only six weeks and she was becoming attracted to another? That was not the type of wolf she prided herself to be. With a suddenly troubled mind Minka turned tail and headed back to the birthing den, she needed some time to think.

RE: Round Stone Crest Pack Thread - Kova - Oct 14, 2015

[dohtml]

Kova was cold and a little moist from the thick fog coating the landscape around their short mountain top home. He had been attempting to sleep alone by himself away from the rocky den so that the gray youth could think about things. A lot of stuff was happening in a very short amount of time, and Kova was getting both overwhelmed and angry about everything. He'd taken more time away from his pack mates and family to sort things out by himself. However tonight the wind was chilly, the temperatures were decreasing rapidly, and the fog dampened his coat along with his already blue mood. So now, too cold and wet to sleep by himself, Kova was slipping close to the den to see who was sleeping nearby and who might actually be within the confines of the packs den.

The night was dark and full of terrors as Kova slipped through the territory and found himself to the mouth of the den. The smells of his pack mates were all around. Kova tried to search out Gent to see where the dark wolf was resting, but it seemed as though the large wolf was gone, perhaps patrolling the territory or something. Many of the others were there though, including Draven, Cessair, Raela, Calanthe, Moraxia, Alphinaud, and Zilas. Kino and Marianna's scents were far more stale though. They were sleeping nearby, but not in the den. Kova guessed that they wanted nothing to do with the adults right now, and he couldn't blame them for distancing themselves from the pack. Their anger and sadness he could both sympathize and empathize with. After finding out about Tokino's death Kova had seen how different wolves reacted different with loss. He knew that some got angry, while others got sad, some got quiet, and others became loud and irrational. It was something natural that had to be felt. So he didn't attempt to curl up and sleep near them, instead Kova kept away from his siblings understanding their feelings right now.

That left a number of other wolves that he could choose to sleep with. However most of those choices displeased him. Draven was curled up with Raela, and while Kova did want to sleep with the dark Lagina he didn't want to be near Raela right now. He still cared for her, and he still loved her like family, but just what happened before and after Minka's burial had him peeved at the Asurn woman. For right now Kova did not want to be near her.

So he moved on to the next group of sleeping bodies. Alphinaud and Zilas, Kova neither knew well nor really liked at all. So he passed them by quickly. Cessair's lack of presence during his mothers death and her lack of taking charge had displeased Kova. He had really looked up to her kind nature and had hoped that she would keep the pack strong while Minka wasn't around. Now though, he was unhappy with her, and so the youth passed her by as well.

Lastly he came upon Moraxia and Calanthe's resting forms. These two she wolves had been present throughout the past couple of harsh weeks, and both had in one way or another silently grieved for Minka without causing more problems like his siblings cries had. Kova knew Calanthe more than he knew Moraxia though. That fact along with Moraxia's proximity to Cessair's sleeping form made Kova veer towards the sleeping she wolf @Calanthe. He dearly wished to not disturb anyone from their sleep as it was nearly 3am in the morning and they had probably had a hard day already. So the silver wolf slid gently into a spot next to Calanthe. He snuggled into her warm fur and shivered a few times before getting more comfortable. He glanced at the darkness before sighing. The morning comes. Another day another destiny, this never ending road of life... Won't be getting much sleep tonight. He thought quietly. Then soon his deep blue eyes drooped and closed. Sleep consumed the youth taking him away form his daily troubles.

RE: Round Stone Crest Pack Thread - Raela - Jan 14, 2016

There was nothing special about that afternoon. The Queen of the Crest slipped through the timbers; descending her mountain home now coated in a thick layer of snow. It was perfectly average for this time of year, yet the weather brought with it peculiar feelings. She recalled the previous year; the one spent trudging through the snow tired, hungry and all alone - often being pursued by predators or even other wolves. Raela had come upon Black Thorn Downs in the thick of her misery, while this same snow covered the ground. Her gaze melted away as she paced onward; drawn inside herself with these thoughts.

This all was still crazy to her. Her position, her pack. Now at least there were other able bodies with her; and her chances of survival had skyrocketed the moment Minka had given her such charity. Absorbed in memories of her past, Raela curled herself around a pine tree for a rest. At that moment, she wouldn't have minded some pleasant conversation, or even to talk about these demons in her head for once.
