Magnolia Glen

With its claim of lands, the Magnolia Glen pack had become not only a unit, but a tight knit pack that held the belief that family was more than blood. Uprising with loyal members, the pack welcomed its first litter by mid-May of 2013 after their arduous travel. Phineas Argyris and Borlla Tainn – newly mated – welcomed two little ones to the world.. however, due to the stress of their move and the treacherous travel across the Mountain of Dire to reach their haven, their first born son, Kyros Tainn, was born missing a front limb. His sister was perfectly healthy in contrast, and the pack quickly grew protective of both youths.

Life was rather peaceful within the Glen as the summer months passed. Bonds were forged – Inkheart and Lucero maintained positions as Second within the pack, while many others offered their long standing loyalty. As the ranks within the pack swelled with numbers, tragedy struck the pack in the early autumn months when Borlla fell from the Mountain of Dire after going in search for her brother, who was rumored to have returned to Relic Lore. Battered and broken, she was found by a rogue she-wolf before her pack members could come to her aide – Lucero and Zia. Borlla survived the accident, though the stranger slipped away from the pack quickly after. Phineas, beside himself with worry, spent hours by her side while Lucero took role as the dominant lead female within the ranks.

As the months passed, the hardship of Magnolia Glen would only continue when Phineas sent Inkheart and Zia on a scouting mission across the mountains in search of the migrating herds. A snowstorm fell upon the lands, and the silver female returned to the Glen without her best friend and blossoming lover. The swarthy Guardian had fallen from the slopes, and while no body was recovered, was presumed dead. With heavy hearts, the wolves of the Glen had to accept the first death of the pack.. and, unfortunately, of the harsh winter ahead of them.

As famine struck and snow cloaked the lands, Borlla Tainn finally challenged her way once more to lead female. Her challenge to Lucero was well matched, yet coming out on top, she once more led by the side of her mate.. and within months, the pale Second disappeared within the winter storms… another victim claimed by mother nature. As days grew harsher, more lone wolves came to the borders of the pack, seeking refuge. Taking the place of Inkheart’s position as Second was a newcomer by the name of Caleb – a rougher wolf with an unmistakable accent. Unbeknownst to the wolves of Magnolia Glen, Caleb’s real name was Rhysis Aquila – a wolf with an agenda of vengeance within Relic Lore. Caleb proved to be loyal – at least for the duration of his planned stay, and in even helped Phineas chase a disrespectful loner from the pack borders who went by the name of Beelzebub. Unfortunately, this would not be the last the two dominant males would see of the rogue.

Enraged he had been turned from the pack and forced to the harshest storms Relic Lore had ever witnessed yet, Beelzebub planned his own revenge when luring the ever innocent Hypatia from the pack during a hunt on common grounds. Leading her astray from her family, it was only with the demand for food would Magnolia Glen see their daughter once more – a price Phineas paid without hesitation.. but with the promise of bringing his own justice forth. Once Hypatia was safely back within the pack numbers, the offender fled the scene.. and Phineas, stricken with his desire to wrought his own vengeance, was unable to find him.

The worst came to pass when Kyros was noticed missing by his mother. Borlla, seeking the boy in the harsh winter weather, followed his scent to the Sierra Hills, where his body was found, frozen. Grief stricken, the bonds of Magnolia Glen slowly began to unwind at that very moment, and the pale first born son of the pack was taken home to rest. The pack and family would seemingly never be the same.

Yet days passed, and an opportunity arose – the scent of a lone bull caribou stirred the pack to life once more, and scouting out the prey to the Sierra Hills, despite the pack’s newfound history with the land. James, a male who had joined the ranks just prior to the winter months, was first upon the scene, followed shortly by Zia. Magnolia Glen was not the only pack to bear down upon this opportunity, however, and interfering with this gift were the wolves from Oak Tree Bend – a neighboring pack that had laid claim to Spectral Woods. The hunt was swift as wolves from both packs closed in, and the caribou fell to the ground.. a miracle to the creatures who had been so close to starvation. Tensions sharply rose as others came upon the scene, and despite the realization that Borlla’s littermate, Triell, was the lead male of the rival pack, she attempted to lay claim to the prey solely for Magnolia Glen. Within moments a fight broke out, a male from the other pack leading an attack on James, who had been closest to the caribou. Within moments of her claim, Borlla Tainn fled the scene, realizing what her words had brought to action.. and what ties she had likely unhinged. Magnolia Glen was forced to flee as well as they remained outnumbered, much to Phineas’ dismay.. and again ties began to unwind – this time, between the mated dominants of the pack.

With spring would bring new chances – the prey returned to the valley, and Magnolia Glen would thrive, though their numbers were harshly depleted. Few wolves even remained from the winter months – Neoma, a confident she-wolf whom had been forced to the lowest position by the lead male after refusing to submit at the borders had proven more loyalty than expected – her secret agenda still unknown to the pack. Two brothers by the surname of Cygni remained in the ranks as well – one, Albireo, a callous and lazy wolf who had spent his time within the ranks since the beginning of the winter offering very little to the pack he had sworn loyalty to. The other, Deneb, was brought in to the pack with little regard held to his name because of the reputation Albireo had unravelled.. placed as the warden to his lazy brother. Deneb quickly overthrew his brother in rank and has taken his duty given by Phineas without hesitation. Another male, by the name of Ace, has joined the ranks within the last few months. Originally accompanied with a yearling female, she had since left to join her brother while he, a previous member of the disbanded Pitch Pine Trail pack, has worked to find his place within his new home. K’arnae, a new she-wolf to the pack, was found at the base of the mountain, injured after a fall. Phineas, unwilling to leave her to her death, took her back to the pack for her to heal. She quickly found her place within the ranks and has strived to become the pack Teacher, especially in regards to the Glen’s youth. Finally, the two newest additions to the pack were two yearlings seeking a fresh start in life – their history unknown by the leaders, they go by the name of Mercy and Aponi.

Finally, the Glen welcomed three new pups in the month of May. Despite the tension between the two leads, Phineas and Borlla once more bred this year, despite the raw heartache of Kyros’ death still upon their shoulders. Evy, Takis and Celandine were born in to the world – offering the pack a fresh start for the upcoming year.

"And what should I be scared of? The mist?" She replied smoothly, tilting her head to the side as her eyes swept over him, as if judging him. "It is nothing more than a spectare to fool unwitting and bumbling idiots who have no self regard for safety or sense of direction."

“If it is the Tainn’s you seek, the only one you’ll find here is my mate, Borlla. However,” he drawled, tempted to simply send her on her way and be done with it – what did he care if they were reunited with this little scrap of a lone wolf? “Her brother lives in a pack called Oak Tree Bend, more south of here. I don’t know their names.” Nor did he particularly care to learn them, at this very moment. With a nod in the direction to which she should take, the large male pulled away then, his own form beginning to amble back the way to his own secluded territory. “Give Magnolia Glen’s warmest regards,” he uttered dryly after her, thinking sourly of the position his co-lead had put them in.

His eyes blinked in the sudden bright sun, only then noticing the outlines of others as his gaze focused. It was a larger crowd, and while he was not nervous, nor was he brave. Instead, the ivory babe moved forward, plopping himself near where Evy had wandered to the safety of Borlla's side before he plunked fully down on his belly once more, his tiny jaws aiming to gum at his darker sister's tail.
