Sex: Femalespeech Her blue orbs were trained on the familiar tawny form of Minka, who was a little bit of a ways away, more than likely picking out their target. It was a semi large herd, but she was surprised to see such a pawful of feeble creatures. She wondered which one Minka would pick. Before she could blink, Minka shot out of her hiding place and started running like she was on fire. Lugh burst out of his own warching place and Inali wasn't far behind. In quick time the sleek footed pair caught up with Minka and all three split, cornering the doe. Lugh and Inali on each side and Minka behind. The reddish woman eagerly snapped at the doe, aiding in leading the doomed creature away from her herd and into the ambushers waiting teeth. Inali had seen the slight deformation on her leg and had her answer to why Minka had picked this one out specifically. The doe's eyes were bright with fear and panic, but the noises she made didnt reach Inali's haze of bloodlust. It wasn't often she resorted to death, but this was their meal. This doe would sustain them. It was the way of life, after all. She pressed closer, her jaws snapping and her quick paws taking them all closer to the ending they were all waiting for. With the three of them working as a group, the game would quickly be finished. Her blue orbs flitted to where the take down group hid, and she smiled. |

At his suggestion, Noble went over to her father. From the slowness of her steps and the quiet sigh when she sat it was clear she didn't expect the view to be much better. Admittedly it was a better view, but still she couldn't see the fellow wolves. The deer was now fully in her sights at least. It held her interest for a few minutes. This was the first time she'd seen something this large that wasn't another Thorn wolf. As Tokino spoke Noble continued to study it, imaging that she could see an injury from this distance.
When his injured leg was mentioned she looked sharply at it. Her eyes narrowed, she didn't like this connection between the deer and her father. Unexplainedly, she pressed a distracted kiss against Tokino's shoulder then turned her attention back to the distant hunt.
Kova's excited cry had her leaping up from her spot and bounding towards him. She stood very close to him, the siblings pressed side by side as they watched the hunt unfold. Anstice's form was followed with an admirable amount of intensity from a three month-old pup. Suddenly there was movement! Noble stilled in surprise then burst out in a flurry of excitement. Even with the distance she recognized her mother. Another set of wolves leapt up from nothing and began chasing the deer and Noble was on her feet, whining in excitement and worry for the wolves down in the field. They were so close! Noble took a couple steps forward, her large black feet tapping an excited beat even after she came to a stop. She wanted to be down there in the thick of it!

Kova watched as the hunt progressed, though many parts of it were hidden from him as the wolves and prey moved through the undergrowth. Their father's description did help to fill in some of the blanks, but it didn't help to quell the itch in his legs that told him to chase. Kova glanced to the side to see his sister being equally impatient as her legs twitched a few times. Both children wanted into the hunt, and just sitting still was becoming rather torturous for the young pair. Noble's long whine had Kova getting more excited as he watched the fleeting movements of the other wolves going after the deer. The young gray Lagina pup's own whining voice was added to his dark sisters allowing a rather annoying duet to fall upon Tokino's amused ears. His legs trembled while Kova's heartbeat intensified. Boundless energy surged through his entire being as Kova concentrated on the hunt. He watched closely as the wolves bounded after their prey intent on running it down to the ground. Kova wondered how they would get it to stop moving. Was it like fishing where you had to bite the fish on the head? How would they even reach the head of that tall deer? Or did they have to bring it down a different way? He wasn't entirely sure as Kova watched on breathless at the sight. "Speech" |
Their prey wasn't the only thing growing tired. Lugh's bony limbs ached for rest, and he was pretty sure he'd stepped on a thorn or two at some point, though he didn't let that stop him. All that mattered was keeping the doe running to tire her out and distract her from wolves lying in wait. Thinking of the others, Lugh was looking for the take down group but couldn't see them. Of course he was distracted too, trying to play sheepdog for a deer, but they must have hidden themselves pretty well. Lugh noticed that the doe began to slow, perhaps sensing the ambush that awaited her, but Lugh kept her going with nips and barks. Just then, an auburn flash burst from the shrubbery ahead, @Ryka perhaps? And following Ryka was a duo of white and ash, @Anstice and @Atlas. The doe panicked, but with Lugh and Inali penning her in, there was nowhere else for her to go. The doe was exhausted enough that she barely put up a fight, and with well placed jaws she was quickly downed in a growing pool of blood. Lugh's stomach flopped uncomfortably and he turned away from the sight, heavily panting as he waited for his leaders to start the feast. |

Kova watched closely as the wolves attacked the deer. He saw how one of them dragged the lanky creature down by its neck as others grabbed hold of its sides and rear end. The motion of the little sea of wolves stopped as the deer fell out of Kova's view. His whine turned to a growl of anger because he couldn't see what was happening now. Looking back to Tokino with a desperate whine, Kova pleaded with his father asking to go and join the others. He watched the older male get up and begin to lead them to the rest of the pack then yipped happily and darted forward. The young wolf's rushed steps had him pushing past the sharp branches of the blackberry bushes as he ran forward towards the place where he had seen the adults take down the deer. A raven had seen the whole chase and was slowly winging his way towards the carcass ahead of the young gray wolf. Kova didn't notice the bird, instead keeping the route to the adults fresh in his mind as he whisked by and under tall bushes. Upon arriving at the scene, Kova saw the pack getting ready to eat. He slid forward lowering himself pleadingly and licking any chins of the adults that he could reach before placing himself in front of the line to eat. That was the good thing about being a pup. You got to eat the good bits first. (exit) |

Tokino felt his children's excitement fire up his own blood as he watched them moving excitedly next to each other. He wished he could be out there with Minka and the others hunting the deer. However it would be some time before his leg was fully healed, and the older wolf didn't want to be further injured because he attended a hunt too early.
The gray man stepped forward to stand behind his children as they stretched to their tip toes to see the the chase. Tokino's icy eyes trailed along the forms of his pack mates then switched to the deer as it fled. His fur stood erect on his spine while the silver hued male growled in approval at Noble and Kova's actions. He was glad that they were so interested in hunting. Tokino had known wolves who simply didn't have the instinct to hunt or kill, and those wolves had only thrived because they were in packs who hunted for them. Looking at his progeny proudly, Kino wondered if either of them might pursue the role of hunter when they became yearlings.
Suddenly the hunt was over, and Kova was whining pleadingly to Tokino as he searched the landscape to see where the deer had fallen. He gave @Noble and Kova permission to go without him and watched as everyone gathered at the site of the kill. Tokino followed his son rather slowly as he picked his way down the slope towards the carcass.
