Leaving behind the mountains Astrid had set off with her trusty adventuring buddy @Mathuin once again. This time, they had a new goal in mind. Though they were looking for a pack to call home, there was no shortage of side-stops and sightseeing to be found along the way. After all, it was all about the journey moreso than the destination.
The pair had set up 'camp' at in a little patch of forest to rest their tired, calloused paws. Astrid awoke early, as the sun began to peek up on the eastern horizon. She didn't particularly want to bother her friend by waking him up; Mathuin looked so peaceful and she would have hated to interupt his sweet dreams. She would just go see if she could scout out anything they could make breakfast of, and once Mathuin got up they could go out and hunt together.
The morning was warm enough, with just the slightest bit of dampness from the rains that had passed through last night. Astrid bounced along through the forest accompanied by the morning chorus of birdson, noticing it looked quite a bit lighter up ahead. Picking up her pace into an excited gallop, the honeyed girl broke free of the treeline and into a vast field filled with flowers. The tall colorful blooms brushed against her flanks as she ran, the open sky stretching above in a lovely blue tint brighter than any jewel. And there-- Astrid stopped in her tracks, her mouth dropping open in awe. Not one, but two glorious archs of multichromatic light stretching from one end of the field to the other, the Mountain of Dire almost perfectly centered beneath the gateway.
"Ohhh wooooow!!!" She exclaimed, her head craned upwards towards the sky so far back that her rear end was forced onto the ground. "Wooaahh, no way, double rainbows! All the way across the sky!" She squealed. "So beautiful! Ohh wooow! Full rainbows, all the way... So intense!"
