Light Snow, 9'f --- @Calanthe :3

And I ask for no redemption, In this cold and barren place. Still I see the faint reflection, And so by it, I got my way... The last pale light in the west.

Dare walked carefully through the valley as the snow drifted around his feet. He had not seen snow for a while, and he would be lying if he said he did not miss the smell of it. The air felt crisp, and gave the pangs of wakefulness to Dare even though he had walked alone for quite some time now. He had followed up near the mountains, and arced over into its rivers. He followed the mountains side west, taking in the new world around him. The place felt normal, felt secure. It was a sense Dare nearly forgot how to feel. Something felt so natural as he tracked the edge of the near frozen creek, spotting the brown and black decay of long fallen leaves slowly being lost in the spreading sea of white.  Dare did love the snow. The snow fell across his back, mocking and fading the grey features Dare prized. He followed the valley further, not thinking on where he was heading. He had met with the other pack a bit, and he still considered them. But being the first he found, at least finding one more to help him understand the new places would be a great aid to him.

Dare slowly began to feel tired. The cold started getting to his pads, and he wanted to slow his pace. He breaks away from the valley, marching up on the hard earth before finally flopping somewhat ungracefully into a baby snowbank. He let out a soft sigh, as he listened to the flowing silence around him. The valley was open, and the snow muffled the vast area so that only the wind could carry the murmurs that drifted to his ears. The tall trees seemed to reach up like a child longing for a mother. But the mother was gone, no sun seemed to shine through the clouds of grey and the snow of pearly white. This was a place that Dare had wanted to be for so long. He stayed in the open a while, nearly dead to the world as he rested.

Calanthe Quickfoot

Again she was away from the pack. Again. This was a horrible habit to allow herself to form. How many times was she going to go wandering out into this blisteringly cold weather to look for @Enloexian? She didn't need to see him, and he was a loner who had yet to join their pack - or any, for all that she knew - and even if she did always add something to the cache when she returned from seeing him, having to lie about going off to see him should be all the proof she needed that this was absolutely wrong. Especially since @Gent and @Raela trusted her enough to believe her when she let them know she was going off to hunt - as she had before leaving today.

Calanthe snorted and shook her head irritably, sending snow flying away from her mane in a small flurry. Whatever. If she found the loner this time, she found him and would try not to fall all over herself around him this time. If she didn't, good, she could focus on hunting and not worry about him and actually return without feeling like quite so much of a liar this time. Why should she make herself so sick about the dark man, anyway, with his pale eyes and his courser manner and that odd, enticingly difficult accent--

The wind brought the scent of a male wolf to her, and despite not recognizing it - or rather because she didn't recognize it - the pale woman sighed with relief. It wasn't Xian - Enloexian, that is. And that little twist in her chest was just residual worry that it would be him. She definitely wasn't disappointed. That was ridiculous. He was trouble, and she didn't need any more trouble in her life right now.

The man was laying in a small snowbank, dusted with a fine layer of snow, and incredibly enough he looked as though he might be asleep... unless he had frozen to death. Stomach knotting now with worrying for the stranger, Calanthe padded closer, head low and body tense in case she wound up needing to fight him. She hoped not; it was so cold, and if he was tired enough to sleep in this weather surely he must be very tired in general from his travels...

“Sir?” she ventured, her voice the soft tone of one caught between wanting to rouse another and not wanting to be on the receiving end of the awakened one's wrath. “Are you all right, sir? It's very cold to be asleep out here in the open...”
