XVIII "Eighteen"

The heavens were starting to darken as the fiery king began to fall from power and reseed into his slumber, vibrant hues seemed to bleed into one another. The once gray dappled sky was shifting into a clash of colors, the oft silver seemed to melt into a tangerine and canary yellow. As his fall progressed more paint seemed to be thrown into the mix, from a rather bloody crimson until an indigo seemed to join. His reign was coming to an end, his mistress and queen smiled as he fell. Her bright sliver of silver seemed to pulsate as her darkness began to sweep over the earth below.

Old timbers and ancient shrubs mocked the cherub as she seemed to wander with a lonely mission, their outline taunted her ever move until a chilled whine escaped her lips. Coyote-like ears fell to her petite skull, her olive green eyes shifted like the paranoid child she was, darkness would soon rule and fear would soak into her bones. Her mind raced as she tried to remember why she had left the comforts of the enclosure, why she had rejected the idea of mating with an unknown male to bear his children but that was just it. One of the reasons she spent her nights digging, her mind wandered to how a loveless relationship could spark love for children she did not want with this "wolf twenty-three".

Another thought seemed to drift within her mind, a whisper that carried her forward. She needed to find the other half of her soul, a piece that had vanished one night when they were simply yearlings. It was then another whine came, the pale cloud of condensation dispersing with the sound as the child leaned on one of the frozen crystal touched trees. She did not know how they looked in the spring or that they looked any different than their bare limbs they carried now. A soft huff came from where a whimper had earlier, her vision closed slowly as she tired to regroup herself. Her fear needed to be controlled if she wanted to moved any further.

Nicolò Archer
Hope you don't mind me jumping in on this

All he had been expecting to do was stretch his limbs but then he had flown much further than he had expected to. At first it had been a simple stroll that had turned into a trot and then into a sprint. Before he had known, he had traveled more than a day. Of course, he knew he could not stay long, he would need to get to the pack, his pack, that he was leading. But perhaps some fresh air was exactly what he needed so that he would have a clear head. Nicolò had never truly traveled to the northern part of the lore and it was a much needed experience on his part. The dark man’s pale yellow eyes greedily took in the scenery as he went along and he finally stopped to rest as he came along an area of cherries.

Not fully trusted himself, he steered clear of them, remembering clearly his lessons of not trusting a fruit unless it was inspected by a healer. He continued along, his dark form could easily be spotted in the light of day, but he was not stopped in his tracks by anyone, rather a scent. It was fear that stopped him. The feeling almost suffocated him and the man forced himself to move forward, despite not knowing who this was, concern plagued him. Upon entering a clearing, his eyes were instantly drawn to a pure white female. Assuming that such a thing was coming from her, his eyes swept the clearing for any other sign of danger but was stifled with confusion when he found none.

Hesitant to approach her in any manner, but choosing to do so anyway, he treaded carefully, his pale yellow eyes watching her form for any sign of violent movement. When he was close enough to her, he finally spoke, "Excuse me, Miss?" Nicolò’s voice was a deep timbre, light and doing its best not to disturb the lady from whatever trouble she was in. After all, he was a gentleman. It seemed that every time he laid paw outside of his territory he was to be subject to a maiden in need to his aid. And while he would not object to her if she was in need of help, it would have been pleasant to have had some nice company for once.
