Merys Adroren
He certainly could have expected this to happen sooner or later. Though to be perfectly honest, Merys couldn't adequately determine his feelings on the pup's mother arriving or not. Was he entirely grateful that his supererogatory duties were finished? Or, was he disappointed to finally see the pup's loner mother materialized into something real? He would have liked to pretend that the small girl's difficult future was up to interpretation for a bit longer, but alas, here she was.

Merys had taken an experimental couple of steps backwards once he had dislodged the cub's grip, hoping it possible that he might make a get away before she could see him again. At least, that's what he told himself he was doing; his sneak attempt would have proved poor if he had been taking it seriously. Merys heard the snarl before he saw her, and his head whipped to the side at the entrance of the grey-pelted female. She spoke some sort of threat to him through her teeth, but Merys was already obliging her space with some steps backwards. She might be expecting a more alarmed reaction at her snarl, but in any case, he knew this moment was coming. Otherwise he may have been there much longer entertaining the babe until her energy waned long enough for him to disappear.

"Yes, yes, of course. All yours," he comforted her aloofly, not concerned with her aggressiveness. The small female was a protective mother, yes, but he would not be abashed or intimidated by her yet -- he meant to take his leave anyway. He noticed the small pup between her mother's legs resurfacing, unphased by the exchange. He gave her lasting fervour a faint smile, looking down at her calmly, but unwilling to give her anything more. Another step back to indicate his intent to leave, he spoke once more, "You uh, might consider hiding that little killer better. She's a bit too brave for her own good," he admitted, raising his gaze back to the unhappy green eyes of her mother briefly before turning to go without further explanation, if she should not want for one.

There was no comfort in watching the stranger back away. Her tension only increased when Percy reemerged, her words a far cry from the small delicate language her mother and father and striven to keep away from their protege's ears. What caught her attention in particular was the mention of Askan's name. Arching an eyebrow, the pepper-and-salt pelted woman remained silent, content to pester the young man about this matter later.  For now she remained firm in her stance, watching the other and waiting for him to leave. Jessie thought she had made it more than clear that he wasn't welcome there. His parting words, however, came through to her loud and clear. She did not interpret them so much as a threat but as a warning. If the man wanted to do anything violent towards her daughter or cause their family any ill-content he would have had the opportunity to do so before she arrived. None the less, the gray woman did not turn towards her daughter until she felt the stranger was a distance that was comfortable enough away for her.

Wide, worried eyes looked down upon her daughter. While she tried to keep too much of her anger from seeping into her actions, she could say no such thing for her words. ”Percy, that could have been very bad. And you do not use the word 'fucking' around here, do you hear me?” Emerald eyes blinked down at her small daughter, quite the spitfire. She had no doubt that it would be difficult for her and her mate to deal with their child, especially given her wild personality, but Jessie wouldn't change it for anything. Truly, it warmed her heart that Percy would be able to stick up for herself...but only when she as a little older. The former Scout proceeded, ”It is dangerous to talk to others that you don't know right now, Phoenix. Strangers could hurt you, or take you away from Mommy and Daddy, do you want that?” She peered down at their miracle, hoping that she understood the importance of their future and why it was so important for her to remain hidden for the time being.

Phoenix Avalon
She watched the brown wolf walk away, her brows scrunching down in a frown, a final "Jeebie Fuh-kin come back!" thrown at his retreating back. She had been about to pursue her new friend when her mother turned all her attention back on the small girl. Oh that was right. She was meant to stay... inside.

Dark rump fell to the mud, her ears pinning against her skull, trying to block out her mothers words. Her lips were pulled into a tight line and she focused on the ground somewhere under her mothers chin, the perfect image of a reprimanded child. That fucking wasn't a word they used around here confused her, eyes turning to that familiar silver face, her own contorting with her frustration that she couldn't yet better communicate her thoughts. "Jeebie name bad word?" It was as close as she could come to conveying she had thought the bad word was a name.

Dangerous and strangers were words that she had heard before but ones she so far lacked a grasp on, but taking her away? Eyes widened a little at the thought, small head shaking in response to her mothers question. "No go. Pee-nicks no go-way." Never mind she was still small enough to simply pick up and carry off. Nobody would dare it, she would bite off their noses if they tried.

{OOC}This will be my final post unless you wish to continue. <3[/OCC]

It seemed as though her child had found a friend in the stranger but that simply would not do, not until she was a little older. Jessie was glad she did not have to force her daughter to remain with her. After she began her harsh rampage over how bad the situation could have gotten she held Phoenix's full attention. Emerald eyes filled with passion and love as she spoke, trying to make it clear that she was only doing this because she cared. The gray woman knew that Percy was still young and it frustrated the mother at times, that she could not get her point across in an articulate manner. She chewed on her cheek when she was done, staring down at her daughter, heart pounding anxiously in her chest. All she wanted was to ensure the safety of the little furball in front of her. Huffing softly at the child's words, Jessie continued, ”That is not his name, dear. Those are bad words.” Blinking down at the dark body, she tilted her head, hoping that made more sense. She doubted that the man told her that it was his name but it was clear that Percy had interpreted it that way.

Her next words filled the pepper-and-salt colored mother with both relief and anxiety. It was hope that drove her to believe that Phoenix would listen to what she had to say, but fear gripped her heart at the thought of ever losing her little girl. She remembered how hard it had been for Swift River to get back on their paws once they lost Rissa, just the memory of finding her body made Jessie nauseous. What if it was her own daughter? Panic once again gripped at her heart and she spoke again, ”You won't go anywhere. Just stay with Mommy and Daddy, okay? For right now.” The gray mother would be sure to not make the mistake of leaving her daughter alone in the den again. At least, not until they formed the pack and created the borders they desperately needed. Remembering the rabbit she had dropped on the way back to her daughter, unsure if it was still there, she smiled down at Percy, ”Now do you want to go on a walk with me?”
