On some level, Kyna was a bit surprised it had taken her so long to return to her childhood home. But then, founding a pack was time consuming, and more so than that was pregnancy. Revon’s infancy left her very little time to leave the den for the bare necessities, much less travelling south simply to satisfy her curiosity. Now her daughter grew, however, and the alpha was allowed a little more time on her own. In the early hours, she’d left the girl with Greer, promising to be back before the afternoon.
Perhaps she shouldn’t have curled up for a nap, but in her defense, the redhead hadn’t actually meant to fall asleep. It was more like trying to bond with the earth, or something equally as ridiculous, and she’d simply dozed off against the cool earth.
At least the bird song woke her up, or she’d be even alter. Kyna sighed softly, her fire bright eyes flickering upwards as she watched the pair at their nest, chittering before one of the flew back off. A second clutch of eggs. Birds were so productive, she thought wryly, but did not untuck her legs to stand. “Should I have stayed here?” she asked the bird.
Unsurprisingly, it said nothing in return.
