Backdated to October 12th, a few days after their thread I Want to Save You from Your Sorrow. Set in the western woods of Turtleback Lake. Let's assume @Rayza and Cottongrass have been hauling their butts off for the past few days to get towards Askan and Reyes~

The forest they were in looked familiar.

He couldn't believe it.

Because he knew that he sort of made a promise to help Rayza head east but that didn't necessarily mean he could keep his promise. Not that he wasn't trying! It was just that... He was terrible with directions and the world hated him with a burning passion that rivalled the sun itself. But maybe that wasn't the case for today's journey. The nearby forest seemed familiar and he was happy to keep on pretending he absolutely knew what he was doing for the time being. If it came down to it he could ask someone for directions or maybe he could just heroically sacrifice himself while telling Rayza to go on without him.

Both were pretty good options if you asked him.

And on the topic of Rayza

"Rayza." He called. The vowels were all drawn out and it was the only warning Rayza got before Cottongrass was invading his personal space by shoving his muzzle into tawny fur. He couldn't help it. There was too much going on inside of his brain and the only remedy was to annoy the ever loving shit out of everyone around him. It was the doctor's orders.

(Whatever those were...)

He shook out his coat and pressed closer to Rayza only to push his luck by giving him yet another playful little poke with the blunt end of his snout. But this time his poke had a good reason behind it whether Rayza believed him or not. He was just getting his attention, in the most annoying way possible because he wanted to. "What're you heading east for, again?" He couldn't remember. He was probably supposed to have remembered. Oops.

He was pretty sure it wasn't that big of a deal. Rayza would just have to tell him again. Cottongrass was sure he wouldn't mind. He practically saved the kid's life, that had to count for something! And the second time was probably his fault but he pretended that mess of getting lost in the woods never happened. His tail wagged and his yellow eyes shined as he peered into the kid's face with all the grace of an obnoxious puppy.
