Odin Archer

He had managed to slip away before the sun had even broken the horizon. It wasn't that he didn't love the tundra, but he was starting to grow worried that no word had come from his mother yet in one form or other, if she didn't get back before the snows set in, well, it'd be spring before she could make the journey again (not that he imagined travelling with his younger siblings would be an easy task). The rumbling promise of a storm echoed overhead and a lone eye turned skyward with a frown. He hated the trees, but he also hated being wet. So south-west he turned, scaling the hills of the timbers with relative ease.

The first fat drops to fall from the sky were met with a curse as the yearling cast about this way and that, lightning opening the sky with a resounding boom! that shook the earth. "Yeah, I heard ya." He muttered darkly as his eyes finally found a tumble of stones that looked like they may have once housed a pack, well it'd do for now. A quick glance was thrown over his shoulder before he stuck his head undergroud to give the place a good sniff before he got too far in. The last thing he needed was an angry critter after him for crashing their pad.

A flash of lightning ripped the sky in two, followed quickly by a bellow of thunder. Darkmoon shuddered at the sound, his fur soaked by the pouring rain, making it cling to his skin. He looked ragged and manic as he searched frantically for some form of decent shelter, unlucky to find himself caught out on the exposed northern plateau. This was the second time this had happened to him, and he knew the perfect spot to take shelter in; he just had to find it. Last time he had stumbled upon two other wolves trying to flee the weather there too, and he was prepared for a repeat of that day. At this point however, he did not care if he shared that cave with every wolf currently residing in Relic Lore, as long as he got out of this rain.
Although it was difficult to see with the water dripping in his eyes, he could make out the hazy shape of a boulderfield ahead. There, he thought to himself excitedly, picking up the pace and eager to get undercover. As he entered the familiar cave, the sounds of rain and thunder immediately drowned away. The walls of stone were thick and heavy, and provided a warm and relaxing space. He shook himself off, glad to be rid of the water the weighed him down, and water sprayed from his coat in every direction. Once finished, he opened his hazel eyes to scan the room, only to have them fall on the shape of another wolf. Of course, he thought to himself with disdain, although he could not say he was surprised. "Oh," was all he could find to say, unsure of how else to address this rather unwelcome stranger.

At first he had been worried about staving off a porcupine or badger, but it became quite evident that the den was well and truly deserted. He paced the area beneath the rock, it was surprisingly spacious, perhaps even more so than the old bobcat den that his mother had chosen for the wolves of whitestone... though he did miss being able to see the sky above... in fact... it was quickly becoming rather cramped. As if the trees outside weren't bad enough...

Deciding the quickest way to rid himself of his growing axiety was to sleep it off, he turned once, then twice and plopped himself down in a wolfy donut, tucking his nose beneath the end of his tail and forcing his eye closed, hoping sleep would be quick to come.

But it wasn't to be. Oh, the sound echoed around the chamber sending the yearling scrambling to his feet as he spotted the dark stranger. His head was dropped, singular eye honing in on the wolf that stood between him and the only way out of this cave-in waiting to happen. His sides started heaving as he tried to breathe, convinced he was running out of oxygen... He had to get out, but the other stood in his way and his mouth was too dry to form words.

Panic was setting in.
