Borlla Tainn-Argyris
At her core, the woman was selfish. She had always been this way, although it had lessened as time lingered on, and she began to realize what was truly important in life. But deep down, she was. And when others looked to her for guidance, it was hard to tell if she was thinking in their best interests or her own. But she tried so hard to consider all of the factors now. How wise it would be to spare potential lives from another winter, the food they would spare for the mouths they needed to feed now. And yet, she longed to fill the hole in her chest with new tiny lives, creatures that depended upon her. Lives that might brighten the eyes of her packmates, as well. For once, she put the thought of Kyros aside. Though he laid beneath the earth, she would never forget him, but...If they went on with their lives holding his death heavily on their backs, constantly reminded of the winter they had weathered, they may never smile again.

"To have your children. To know that we survived this winter," To speak was a struggle. She feared her own words threatened to choke her, to lay another misunderstanding between them. But she could only hope that she had made her desires clear this time, and did not dare utter another word until she was certain. Jaw clenched, she stared towards him, desperate for this understanding that might lead them out of this dark winter.

Last reply for me. Want to do a fade? <3

It was a moment he could have chosen to walk away – not out of anger, or spite.. but of regret. His son lay to rest within the very lands he called his, and come the thawing of winter, he would need to give the boy a proper burial. To do so with his mate pregnant with another litter on the way seemed close to betrayal, and he swallowed thickly at the thought.

Yet he could not deny her request – nor could he pretend she was the only one who wanted another chance. He moved toward her then – her words breaking his foundation. Pulling alongside her, his nose would press to her shoulder, his tongue smoothing out to preen the guard hairs. "Magnolia Glen will once more rise to glory," he murmured the words to her, his muzzle shifting then to nose at her cheek. "Kyros would want nothing less for his family," he deemed then, feeling the shock of the words before pulling away. He did not talk of his son openly, yet this was Borlla. The two held no secrets from one another.

Without another word, he trailed to her side, brushing himself softly against her as a crooning growl escaped his jowls. He would claim her as his once more. Glancing to her once more for permission, he awaited her word before prowling forward even closer.

For now, the world was theirs, and even the heartache from their loss could not retain them from moving forward. Relic Lore would recognize Magnolia Glen as a pack of formidable wolves and a force to be reckoned with.

The silence might have been short, but it seemed to carry on forever. Incredible silence in her ears, deafening somehow. If he chose to walk away now, she could not blame him. The things that had come to pass this winter were unforgettable and would follow them until their own dying days...But he moved before her eyes now, not away, but towards her. She felt her heart suddenly speed up within her chest. In an instant, she recalled the previous spring, desire bringing them together, duty solidifying their bond. This would be different; it already was different. The pale woman sought shelter in his scruff as the distance was closed once again, honeyed eyes squeezed shut as she listened to him speak.

Borlla took in a breath as he finished, "For Kyros. For the Glen." She uttered quietly, disengaging from his fur as he moved. Her body pressed against his, and her head tipped back in expectant pleasure. Smiling, she could feel his eyes linger towards her, the growl he uttered caused her tail to swish upwards over her back. They would survive, they always did, one way or another. The lands would thaw and the creek would run once more. There would be light in their eyes with every sun that rose...Once again, they would thrive despite the pain, despite the loss. She would cling to the thought of him as time passed, no longer just the father of her children or her leader, but the one she had truly come to love. "For us."
