Yuka Thorben
Yuka gets into an accident. 05/11/14 @Athena

He was still trying to get over the loss of his angel. She had left him alone, left him when she had known that he had tied himself to Whisper Caverns for her. She was his angel and caregiver and yet, she had left him alone just as he always feared he would be: alone. Never had he been expected to get into any trouble. To her, he had been perfect. Intelligent, strong, protective, everything that someone would look for in a Guardian. He had been learning from Namara, before she had disappeared, and every once and awhile he would find Ash and the two would hit it off. Yuka didn't completely mind the new alpha, he knew how to get business done, but he certainly was no replacement for his father figure....not that he ever had one. He was lost in his own thoughts, so when he came upon a wolverine, he was quite surprised to be roused from his thoughts by a threatening yowl.

Instantly, the Thorben went on the defensive, his quarters lowering, and his lips pulling back to reveal his sharp canines as he, also, growled back. Perhaps if he had just left, then he wouldn't have to go through the conflict that he would end up facing. As his golden amber eyes took in the scene of dead prey in front of him, he knew that someone would have ended up facing this beast had it not been him, because it was on their territory and had prey, and lately, Yuka had noticed the scent of something different in the air, something Ash had classified as pregnancy, which meant that someone within the pack was inhabited with life and would need the extra food. As the other animal and Yuka faced off, it wasn't long before the animal made the first move towards the young Prince. He was launched at and the Thorben did his best to deflect the attack, his large body moving at awkward angles to avoid injury. The boy was still getting use to his body, that had been changing over the past months, and knew that he would need to get use to things eventually.

Before he could go on the offensive, the wolverine once again attacked, and this time, Yuka was not so lucky. He felt it before he processed it, and as pain shot across the right side of his face, it fueled him with anger. Not happy with the way things had gone, the young man finally got a hold of this predator and dragged it to the ground violently shaking it. He hadn't expected to be so cruel, considering that he loved nature and all that it had to offer him. But this....this made him so unbelievably angry that he snapped. He didn't bother going in for the kill as he released the wolverine and watched with satisfaction as the thing ran away from him, leaving the carcass behind. The food was long forgotten to him as he growled in irritation at whatever wound had been inflicted upon him. His first battle scars....at least they were something to be proud of.

Deciding that he would have to see the damage out for himself, he made his way towards where he knew there was a small pond. He was glad that it was warmer now, he was familiar with this season, and the ice had finally melted and he would be able to watch the fish swim around. There was no time for him to think about that now though, he was going there to see the damage done to his face. The pain was present and it hurt him quite more than he would have thought, but he didn't think it was that bad, until he looked at his reflection. Familiar teal flecked eyes stared back at him from the water, but the right side of his face was a complete mess. Blood dripped down his face and into the water as his breath caught. Claw marks made its way down the whole right side of his face and down to his lip, which was torn and highly swollen. He was not sure if there was bone sticking out of his head or not and he didn't take long to find out because his body flew away from his reflection and he started to have shortness of breath. He was no longer a handsome man, but a scarred and ugly beast, just as his family had always thought him as. Ugly, a disgrace....not someone who belonged there. And now even his physical features showed such a thing. He was a monster.

Athena Moon

She left the den for the first time since she gave birth to Aurora and the fresh air felt good against her body as she made her way through the forest. Dziban protectively watched their daughter as she went on a short stroll to stretch her legs. Everything was going well with Aurora. She was healthy and getting stronger every day. It wouldn't be long before she would be able to make it out of the den. Part of her wished she would have another to play with, which made her heart ache at the thought of her son's death. He had such a long life ahead of him, but he was only able to take one breath before he was denied his right to live. She curse the heavens for their cruelty. However, she couldn't change what had happened that day, but every part of her wished she could.

As she was walking peacefully through the trees, harsh sounds up ahead broke the silence. Part of her was reluctant to follow the noises, but she couldn't resist finding out what was going on. Silently as she could, she ran towards the commotion. Before she could arrive on the scene, a wolverine burst through the bushes heading straight for her. She would have let the obviously injured animal go on past her, but he was headed straight towards her den with Dziban and Aurora inside. As a mother, she wouldn't dare allow this predator to have the chance to injury her child and mate. Taking her chance, she charged at the wolverine. The wolverine was spooked when he finally realized what was heading straight for him, but he was too late to react. Sharp teeth pierced his jugular and he didn't have time to think or realize what had happened to him.

She dropped the body of the dead wolverine to the ground when she felt him go limp. The imminent threat was gone now, but she wasn't sure what had been attacking the wolverine in the first place. Smelling the wolverine carefully, she scented a pack mate upon it's hide. Whoever was attacking this predator, she didn't know who it was exactly. Silently once again, she followed the retreating scent of her pack mate. His scent led to a small pond where her fiery gaze finally spotted him. She could see drips falling onto the surface of water and she could also smell the blood in the air. She began to walk towards the obviously young boy. He needed medical assistance. @Dziban came into her mind then. He could help him, she just needed to get the boy to him. "Hey there, let me see how badly you're hurt," she said quietly besides him.

Dziban Thanne

Waking to find Rory snuggled into his fur, the male allowed a smile to cross his lips. Pale eyes cracked open in search of his mate, but oddly enough she was nowhere to be found. Confusion laced his features through the sleepy haze. Athena had yet to leave the den, and now she had done so before the filtered light had pulled him from his dreams? Easing away from the newborn, he moved into the light, stretching his limbs and letting a yawn ripple through him.

Nose to the ground, he began tracking her, thankful the scent was thick in the air. She wasn't too far, and so he walked at a leisurely pace, enjoying life more than ever. Things were perfect now, better than he had ever imagined. Somehow Dziban had stumbled into his forever, and nothing could ruin it. Somewhere amidst the spring breeze, the scent of blood infiltrated the air. Wide eyed, the male broke into a run, launching himself towards the source. Athena's perfume stood out against the blood, alongside another that he vaguely recognized.

Terrified, the male barreled through the trees, finally catching a glimpse of the scene. Athena seemed unharmed, but the other wolf... Blood covered his face, splattering against the dirt below. He was young, probably a yearling. As calm consumed the practiced healer, he made his way to Athena's side. "What's happened here?" He asked both of them, for he could not soothsay.

He wasn't expecting company, and when he received it, he was beyond horrified. A woman, one he didn't recognize, but with his mother's and Ash's scent marking her stepped forward. She was beautiful, much older than him, and he silently acknowledged the many scars over her face. Perhaps, she then, would understand. As she drew closer to him, he backed away cautiously. He still didn't know her, for all he knew she was a threat. She smelt familiar though...the inviting smell that his mother had been like when he had been born, or at least for the first several weeks, before her scent became less inviting and he grew closer to Inali...who was gone now. He was, however, not pleased when another presence made itself known, and it made Yuka slink even further back into the shadows. The Thorben prince definitely did not know this man either and it made him all the more self-conscious. Never had he seen anyone as injured as he glimpsed himself, not even Malia when she had been attacked by the birds.

When he answered, he kept his golden teal-flecked eyes on the pure white woman, his voice somewhat shaky, "I came into contact with a wolverine and attacked. It clawed at my face, and I came here to assess the damage." Mentally, he added to himself, quite badly, actually, the whole right side of my face will be messed up." He didn't say anything else and tilted the damaged side of his face into the shadows so that the two adults in front of him wouldn't be able to get a good look at it.
