Oak Tree Bend is the continuation of the Swift River pack. The pack suffered several blows in the fall and winter of 2012, including the loss of one of their leaders, Indru Tainn, and the loss of two pups, Rissa Tainn and Torrel Tainn. Believing that the pack would not survive if they did not relocate themselves, Corinna Donata and her new co-leader, Ice Aesir, discussed moving the pack to get away from all the memories.

After defeating the Aniwaya pack, Ice and Corinna met up once again to continue their discussion about the pack's future. They made the decision to breed as a way to rally the pack's spirits, as well as finalizing the decision to move. However, before they took their leave of the Sacred Grove, they were to suffer yet another loss — Aiyana Tainn, the only remaining pup of Corinna's second litter, willingly left to live with Borden Lyall outside of Relic Lore. With their two yearlings Kisla Tainn and Fenru Tainn, the loyal Swiftpaw sisters Cali and Jessie, as well as the new girl Tali Callow, Swift River said goodbye to their past and the trees which sheltered them for so long, and made their way east across the mountain.

There, they found their future in a corner of the Spectral Woods, claiming a sunny glade with an ancient oak tree at its center for their home. But still, not everything was right; the two scouts they had sent ahead, Triell and Marsh, had communicated with them via howl the morning of their claim, only to not be heard from again for a long time. Unaware that the elder Marsh had been slain taking on the last Aniwayan wolf, Ripplefang, Corinna went into labor, bringing Serach and Sceral into the world. They were both born healthy, and as they emerged into the sun two weeks after their birth, a shadow from the past fell across their world: Triell, rugged and travelworn, returning alone, to fight Fenru for the position of second beneath Ice.
