After being whisked away from their packs and families by the Aniwayan pack, Datura Aquila and Taima Lyall find themselves a long way from home on the other side of the Mountain of Dire. In attempt to get well away from their original location in fear of getting taken captive again, the two cubs set off to the south and discover a lake within the dark reaches of Umbra Copse, which Datura names 'Heiress Loch' after the missing daughter of Grizzly Hollow.
