tagging @Sylva but really anyone can pop in <3 || Mid-morning, Sunny, 58 ° F, 14 ° C

All she had known was the warmth of her mother's fur and the milk that came from her too. It was enough to keep the black and gray girl happy. That was until she could notice shapes and the blinding light that seemed to linger around the entrance of the den. There was also the way her mother looked much less like a blob each day but was still mostly blob-ish.

Today, though, she felt like going a bit away from the den's shadowed warmth. Not very far because she liked it here but at least far enough to see what was in that light. Her legs didn't have enough practice so it took a few tries. The first time she came real close to standing before she stumbled right back onto her rump. The second time was a bit more wobbly before she found herself leaning against the den walls. Just like the saying, the third time was the charm. She found her balance a bit better. Her paws carefully moving her body forwards toward the mouth of the den where the light was.

Once she was there and baby blues were looking out into the world she froze. It was bright. Far too bright compared to her mother's fur and the den's shelter. It would take a few minutes for her wide and blinking eyes to adjust.

Sylva Riverflow

The young mother dozed quietly within the dimness of the den, A slight thud within the quiet den caused Sylva to stir, blinking slowly as she watched her child try to stand, she hesitated to help her, wanting Hawthorne to become independent as soon as she could with such small matters, and soon she was rewarded with the furry hindquarters of her precious child waddling out the entrance, she stood quickly, squeezing out after.

Sylva paused, just behind Hawthorne, she gently murmured “Welcome to the outside world.” she placed her nose against the pup’s flank, encouraging her to take in hr surroundings, though the world was scary sometimes, it didn’t always have to be. She took in the springtime scene herself, inhaling deeply, a longing to grab the nearby herbs and sort them. It was wisest to wait until after Hawthorne grew old enough to understand the diffrences between what plants were edible and which were not. She found herself reminiscing “One day you’ll hear them too.” she said quietly, turning her attention onto Hawthorne

Baby blues took in the scene the best they could, most things were fuzzy blobs at best. The child was unaware of what was what (outside of her den and mother) for now. As her eyes adjusted she would surely be able to enjoy the world for what it truly was.

Before she could take another bold step forward the voice of her mother appeared with a gentle touch. Hawthorne didn't understand the meaning of the words but they seemed good by their tone. Plus her mother's touch was usually so kind and loving. The child slowly turned around to place her head against her mother's leg. Her eyes focused upwards on her mother's face.

The light from the sky wasn't so blinding now but it was still bright, unlike the Riverflow's mother's fur. Granted outside did seem much more exciting than the darkness. With blobs that were not within the den and smells that did not come from her mother. Maybe she should take another look. Her small form turning her back on her mother as she slowly took some more steps into the unknown. If Hawthorne's mother wasn't worrying or acting strangely than surely this place had to be somewhat okay.

Emrys Myrddin

Ever since Gent had left them unable to return Emrys continued the rounds of the territory just as they used to do. Now however he completed them alone and wasn't sure he was ready to find a replacement. Ambrosia was the obvious choice as the male was his second but the alpha had not grown close to him. It was most definitely something that would need to change, he didn't like not really knowing the wolf that was under him. Ryker would have been a good choice as well but with the recent admission of the young boy he didn't feel comfortable putting that pressure on him. He’d already made a tough enough decision, he was rather proud of the young Lieris. So until he made a decision about it he traveled the worn path alone each morning.

Since the birth of young Hawthorne Emrys had been keeping a close eye out for the pup to emerge from the den Sylva had taken up residence in. He didn't know if the young mother knew that he made a visit each day nor did he particularly care. She'd been told that he and Jynx would be watching her closely. This morning was no different so as he approached the den in the shadow of the trees he saw that it was time for Hawthorne to meet the world. For a moment he stayed back watching to allow the pup to gain her bearings before approaching.

When he finally did move toward mother and daughter he gave Sylva a nod, “Hello Sylva,” he greeted curtly before turning his attention to Hawthorne his features and tone softening immediately. “Welcome to the world Hawthorne,” He said giving her a gentle nudge to her cheek, “There's lots out there to discover.”

@Hawthorne and @Emrys

A small smile crept across Sylva’s muzzle, Hawthorne was growing so quickly, already out of the security and safety of their den, sometimes she felt the urge to drag her back inside and keep her nestled against her side, but that wouldn’t do the girl any good, one day she’d learn how harsh the would could be, but for now, Sylva was content to let her explore, within the mother’s hazel sight of course. She watched as the salt and pepper pelted pup pulled away from her, each step baring more confidence than the last.

Though, the peace of the moment was short lived as Emry’s ivory fur stepped into the clearing, SYlva returned the nod, her gaze never leaving her daughter, though her kept her tail tucked between her legs, she walked on a fine wire right now, she wasn't willing to endanger her tenuous hold within the pack for Hawthorne’s sake “She’s growing each day.” she said quietly. One day, maybe one day Hawthorne would be able to meet her father, Sylva wasn’t sure how to go about it though,m did she just ask? Suddenly appear in front of Zilas and show him his own unknown family? She sighed quietly, it was a worry for another time.

“When she’s big enough, I want to take her to the nearby rivers, so she can learn how to listen to their words.” Sylva said quietly, she had every intention for Hawthorne to learn, the rivers had brought her mother here, and had guided the events that had given birth to her.

Hawthorne Selwyn
Before she knew it there was another form. Not one she was familiar with. Larger and brighter than her mother. For a moment the man scared her but when he spoke his tones were calm. He was not loud or even blinding like bright light of stepping into the world for the first time had been. Nor did he seem to upset her mother, which was a bonus to the young Riverflow. His gentle touch to her cheek was met with her rump wiggling as a giggle bubbled up.

She didn't really understand the words that her mother and the stranger were speaking. Of course, their tones were ones she was used to but Hawthorne couldn't fully grasp what came out of their mouths. So instead the young child did what any young one in her position might do. She found something else to busy herself with.

Hawthorne's paws carried her a bit further in an ungraceful fashion. Her tail wiggling behind her as denim blue eyes looked around. It was big out here. There were no walls to keep her in nor was there darkness to hide in. Out here, in the unknown, everything seemed so wide, bright, and open. What would she do first?

The patience that Emrys once had for Sylva had dissipated but her daughter was another story. He had all the patience I the world for her. As he approached the pair he acknowledged the she wolf though he didn't feel it was particularly necessary. He didn't want to have a scene that would make Hawthorne uncomfortable or upset her. Once he'd greeted the she wolf he turned his full attention on the tiny pup giving her a small nudge which she seemed to like.

His attention was drawn away from Hawthorne as her mother started to speak about her growing everyday, “That is expected, she's got a long way to go before she's fully grown but she seems to be doing well.” Which was another reason Emrys had stopped by to check on the pup, he wanted to be sure that everything was going well for the youngster. He wasn't sure he trusted Sylva to do what was best for her considering she had used her pups, well Hawthorne as an excuse for her lying

Sylva spoke again as Emrys watched Hawthorne start to explore the world. “At what age are you planning to do this with her?” He questioned. He wasn't sure he liked the idea of Sylva teaching the child anything if he were to be completely honest. “Are you planning for her to he a healer as well?” He asked before his gaze followed the pup to where her little paws had taken her to make sure she could wasn't getting herself into any trouble.
