Charred Ash Draw Team Building

The hunt had started, Triell and Kerb were off making sure that the stag didn't decide to put a complete stop to what they were doing and injure one or more of them. She’d taken up the right flank with Reiko right behind her as they came up on the right side of the doe.  Maera and Treyah taken up the left just as she'd planned and now it was left to Naira to come up from behind as they ran the doe down.  As she ran she stayed level with the creatures shoulder nipping at it, trying to draw blood to weaken and slow it. The sound of Naira’s bark resonated in her ears but Leotie was too focused on where the front of the deer to ensure it didn't try to live toward the left to get away.

Then as the doe seemed to slow just a little she gave a toss if her head to see that Naira was trying to drag the animal down.  Now with the doe in their grasp Leotie took her chance and dove for animal's neck in an attempt to bring her completely down.  In that moment she saw a leg shoot out striking the alpha female but she couldn't let her grip go until they had the animal secured.  Using much more force she put all her weight into it and managed to push the front end of the animal to the ground.

The Slayer woman was too preoccupied with her own mission to notice what everyone else was or was not doing… she trusted that the duty of keeping everyone on task would fall to the alphas and Leotie. Leotie lunged for the deer and that was when Maera saw the hoof hit Naira, though the alpha kept pushing on. That was a strength that Maera could back. She growled, muttering a ‘shit’ under her breath before she herself lunged at the creature’s back left side, a valuable lacuna present for her to do so, sinking her teeth into it and pushing her weight to drag the back half of the creature down, far enough forward and upward where it’s hoof couldn’t do any damage to her vitals.

She kept her grip, fighting for it every second but managing to hold out as she waited for Leotie, who was likely the closest, to deliver the killing bite that would bring this hunt to an end so they could all get something in their systems. She already had the grip on the neck; she just needed to bite it hard enough to snap it. Come on down, nice and easy… that’s right… ancestors help us. The taste of blood was driving her into a frenzy.

Treyah Tainn

Suddenly, the doe slowed, a quick glance showed her mother hanging off its back end, and Treyah knew that one day that task would fall to her as one of the heftier girls around. Maera moved in on the flank and Leotie blurred towards the neck so Treyah clamped herself into the soft flesh just beneath the elbow, effectively pinning the prey in place so that if Leotie couldn't get the job done then perhaps her father or Kerberos might in answering her mother's call. Her heart was hammering in her ears, each breath a warm wet gale as the close up grassy scent of the doe filled her nose and the taste of blood made her mouth water for more.

She might have stopped to wonder what her brother was doing had a stray leg not swung back towards her own, quick reflexes allowing the younger wolf to twist away as she let go of her hold. Maera had the right idea, and Treyah tucked her body up against the doe as she bit down once again. She could feel the way its limbs shook, every frantic gasp pressing against her flank as she held on for her life. It would all be over soon. Soon they would all eat well.
