The past year has been a dynamic one for Oak Tree Bend, to say the least. At the peak of last summer, they were one of the largest packs in Relic Lore and had just welcomed into the world five pups from three different litters. Under the leadership of Serach and Spieden, things were going well for the Bend. They were flourishing and were happy, until the seasons changed and fall arrived.
With the arrival of fall and early winter, things began to change. Spieden discovered Lena Donata, Serach's niece, in Spectral Woods and in a episode of paranoia and wanting to protect her own children, denied knowing the Donata family and prolonging their family reunion. When Serach found out that Spieden had lied to Lena, the distance between them grew, threatening to boil to the surface. Soon after, Ice Aesir returned to Relic Lore and arrived back at the borders of the pack he founded. Welcomed by his son and his old friend Triell, his arrival signaled another change in the pack dynamics.
Tensions boiled over when Aponi challenged Spieden for leadership. Suspecting a plot between Aponi and Serach, Spieden's paranoia took over and she fled the pack after losing the challenge. Her abrupt departure caused a ripple effect as others left to either follow her or to get away from the new leading pair. Among them were Triell and his family, who left without saying a word to his nephew, and Kyna, who could not stand to live under the leadership of her mother once more. All in all, the strength of the pack dwindled from 18 to 6 in less than a week, and a pack that once seemed incredibly stable was at very real risk of abandoning completely.
In the months since, the pack has started to rebuild. Serach and Aponi became mates officially, and welcomed into the world three pups (Mabel, Corsair, and Ayla). Although not large in numbers still, they have become more stable in a pack largely built upon the membership of their extended family. It remains to be seen how they will fare in 2017, but they are hopeful that the new year will be kinder to them than the last.
