Sanguine Cove
Year in Review

The scattered remnants of Fallen Tree Cove found each other by chance in the ghost town of their old home a year ago. They pulled together to form Sanguine Cove under the leadership of Aleister Vuesain, founded along the coast of the same valley-shielded lake. The next generation was brought into the world shortly after by both old and new friends, and while they've had their share of hardships, the pack remains strong and determined to give the children in their ranks the best start possible.

For Aleister, the year was measured by moments of extreme loss in addition to wondrous gain. The pain of being left without a word by his sister caused him to seek comfort in the arms of strangers and friends alike during the Spring heat, resulting in four beautiful children and the addition of young Aquene and old-flame Kip to the Cove. His leadership was cut short by an illness that left him denbound, gifting him with more time with his children but also forcing him to relinquish the reigns to Chan. When Winter grew thickest, Kip was taken from him too - and he now rings in the New Year searching for his eldest daughter, also stolen by inclement weather.

For Nash, unresolved insecurities and heightened emotions drove him to action. Despite being unsure of himself and his path, he has forged a strong identity within the pack, and become their first official Guardian. Present whenever called for, he's the friendly face that will meet you at Sanguine Cove's door as well as the support needed whenever crisis strikes. Most of the year was spent fussing over family, but it was also spent in the company of Aquene, with whom the Eastfall heir has grown noticeably close to. The turn of the year is likely to be a happy anniversary for him, now that the apple of his eye has admitted her love.

Aquene herself had a journey as well, despite seeming to know exactly who she is. Getting pregnant wasn't a planned event, but it's clear she would never take the choice back. Her daughter Kateri is her world, and it shows in all she does. The pack's go-to medic from the start, she officially claimed the title of Shaman late in the year and is a studious, thorough practitioner. It is thanks to her that the Cove has not suffered more casualties, from reviving weather-frozen members to triaging the aftermath of Flair, Nash and Chan's battle with a cougar. Despite all of her determination and hard work, she unfortunately ends the year with her beloved daughter missing, massively overshadowing her budding relationship with Nash.

Siyet was brought to the Cove by chance and a certain dark and mysterious Jethro. She has been a helpful and friendly presence, always there to lend a paw or chat away the afternoon - and oust some crushing wolves along the way. This includes herself, as Siyet gathered the courage this Winter to tell Jethro that she saw more than just a friend in him. Despite being quick to turn her down, insisting he could never be anyone's lover, it's clear that Siyet's emotions run deep and true. Perhaps the New Year will bring some luck?

Jethro himself, while keeping his cards close to his vest, has forged more bonds than perhaps even he knows. While quiet and reserved, he shows when needed and never shies from hard work. It was Nori, granddaughter of Moonshadow and niece to Chan and Nash, that brought him up the mountain and into the Cove's welcoming arms. They had grown close quickly while seeking out the successor of Fallen Tree Cove, however their friendship faltered after succeeding as the differences between them seemed to starken. It's potential did not vanish, but unfortunately Nori did before things could be properly bridged. It left Jethro to contemplate what he wanted from his life, and it seems the New Year might see a new alpha if the cards could finally be played to his favor.

Oksana returned to the Lore for the memories, but what exactly did she stay for? It took her time to decide on the Cove as a home, and time still to be able to fully commit. Her calm, friendly presence is yet another boon to the pack, and like the others she works hard to ensure her chosen family is safe, fed and happy. Is that all the raven desires? Many in the pack have started to notice her growing ever closer to Aleister in particular, and it's starting to become clear that the New Year holds a wealth of possibility for her...

Flair had meant to simply cross the mountain, but some force kept pulling her back to the lakeside wolves. She gave in, and decided to give pack life another try, despite it not having worked out very well for her previously. As her name would suggest, she adds flavor and bite to the Cove, and remains an unforgettable presence, even if distant at times. She experienced a lot of 'almost's this year, from near-missing motherhood to sharing the close call with the Cougar that brothers Nash and Chan had rallied for. The question is, has she made her decision? Is this where she wants to spend her life, or will the turning of the year bring change?

Kajika returned for one wolf in particular - his unrequited love, Moonshadow. There is much more that ties him to the mountain, from his rich history with the Lost Lake to his godchildren Nash and Chan. To the latter, he even offered his services as Advisor, officially making him the Cove's first. Is this enough, though? Or will he be using the New Year to take the chance to finally tell his life-long best friend exactly how he's felt about her all this time?

Moonshadow herself has definitely proven to be thrilled just to be with her family again. She and her son, Nash, had repeatedly missed each other on return trips to the then-abandoned Serpents Pass, finally reunited shortly before the Cove was reformed. Now, she serves as matriarch to the pack at large. Moon is the woman everyone turns to for comfort and advice, from the pups to the adults, and the pack would certainly not be the same without her. Unfortunately, age is starting to take it's toll, and those that love her can only hope that this coming year won't be her last.

The children of Sanguine Cove spent the year being surprisingly well behaved, given the wandering paws they'd come from. While the pack experienced a few close calls, such as a stampede of caribou that nearly took out poor Leo, it wasn't until the New Year hit that the pack ever had to truly be concerned. Kateri wraps up the year in the spotlight as everyone searches desperately for her - it's rumored the weather got to her too, and now she's found herself lost in the forests below the towering mountain pass...
