Well into their first year of being an established pack, Wild Rye Fields has seen its fair share of members come and go. At the beginning of the year, the pack started off strong with the leading couple’s second litter - Griffin, Chimera, and Sphinx Avalon - coming into the world. Even in their own personal haven, peace could not be maintained for long, with the arrival of bad news in the form of Inna and Lorcan: Kisla - the leader of their ally - was dead.

This meeting - which did not go over well - was the catalyst to bitter feelings that circulated in the pack. Eventually, due to disagreements in leadership and how things were being run, Askan and Reyes - the long-time loyal subordinates decided to leave to form their own pack: Shallows Edge. Although there were mixed feelings about their decision throughout the pack, it was with mutual understanding that the former Rye wolves were their allies.

Not long after this, Sphinx went missing, leaving the whole pack shaken by the disappearance by another Rye princess. Griffin and Adelayde searched endlessly for the missing family member but returned home with no results. Later in the year, Wild Rye Field and Hearthwood River gathered together on a joint hunt in which Drestig got injured. Their healer at the time - Neko - did her best to repair his injury but the aging man’s body did not respond as well to the treatment as it might have in his younger years. Around this time, Ice - a long-time friend of Jessie’s - is brought in a welcomed as a guest for treatment.

Without telling anyone where he was going, Drestig - still injured - leaves to visit their allies and finds that Percy has taken residence in Shallows Edge. Upon his return, the Rye King dies, leaving his mate, children, and the rest of the pack heartbroken. Shaky on their feet and low in numbers, those who remain do what they can to keep the pack together. Laike, a long-time member, and mate to Adelayde, quickly stepped up to take the lead after the patriarch’s death, leading to a smooth-as-can-be transition after the death of a loved one. After Drestig’s death, Ice disappears once more.

Adelayde and Laike decide to have pups and in May of 2018, Nikolai and Vasilisa are born, bringing a new generation of Artemieva’s into the world along with new hope for Wild Rye Fields. Along with the fresh blood, new faces have joined Wild Rye Fields in the form of Alvar, Lekelta and Deacon - who had a child, Kisetra - and Risaela and Cancer. Along with these new additions, a familiar face made her way home recently, much to the delight of her mother. Sphinx Avalon returned home and decided to rejoin the ranks. With everything that happened in the past year, there’s only guessing for what’s to come for Wild Rye Fields.
