Wolves living with other wolves. Seri thought it was weird, though he supposed it shouldn’t be. He lived with his mom, after all. No matter where they traveled, she was always there and he couldn’t imagine going someplace without her. He was gnawing on the bone, savoring every morsel from it.

She assured him more adventures, a promise from her lips. His momma always kept her promises and it brought him ease. “I love you too, Momma.” In that moment he debated asking what a dad was, remembering his conversation with Wrynn… but he wasn’t certain if a mom would know what a dad was. Instead, he pounced on the bone that she tossed his direction and he picked it up with a wide and proud grin on his face. All was right.
