It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the weather was mellow, there was plenty of prey in the caches.
Nori was tired.
She'd been running herself half-ragged, bringing things to Leo and looking for Eclypse. Her head was pounding and her legs ached, and she just needed a little break. Surely one day wouldn't hurt - surely it wouldn't be the end of the world if she allowed herself to lay down and rest for a moment. She took a breath and settled on the edge of the lake, close to where the water lapped at the dry land, and lay her head down on her paws.
Why should you be here, safe, when she's missing because of you?
Magg's voice rang in her head, driving her to get to her feet again. Only, her legs wobbled and gave and she ended up flopped awkwardly near the water, much too tired to rise up again. Her body was forcing her to rest.
"Fuck," she snarled to herself, shoulders tensing and self-loathing squeezing at her chest. Frustrated didn't even begin to cover what she was feeling - useless, a waste of resources, a total fucking screw-up.
She couldn't get Archer up the mountain. She couldn't get Leo up the mountain. She couldn't even find a kid.
Could she not do a single thing right?
