Destin McBain
I'd like Ruiko to have a chance to reply first, but after that everything's fair. Also I apologize in advance to any and all ridiculously crazy hallucinations Destin happens to have during the duration of this thread.

Destin closed his eyes and grimaced. The pain in his leg increased with every step he took, every time his back right leg hit the earth. Saying he had a limp was the understatement of the year. The male was attempting to barely walk on his injured limb, but even still there was a fierce, stabbing pain, followed by a throbbing, and then the same agony only seconds later. Desty had no idea that bear bites could be this bad. Surely it had to be something else added on? He tried to think of any other medical ailments that could occur because of a bite, but he couldn't process the thought whatsoever. The immense discomfort hindered his ability to think of anything to do except walk, and only just. Left behind him was a trail of blood that led from the site of the attack to where he limped now. It was as if the bite was poison, and he could feel it with every pump of the blood from his heart to his leg and back again. If this wound wasn't treated soon, it would kill him. His body functions were beginning to shut down already; his eyes moved in and out of focus and he tripped with every step. His body felt unbearably hot and his tongue lolled out of his mouth. Breathing heavily with every effort, the male made it a few more feet and then collapsed onto the ground in a heap. His flank rose and fell extremely quickly as he gasped for breath.

Closing his eyes for a second to get some strength, he laid up to inspect his wound. The world focused in and out and spun around him, making him dizzy. All he could process was lots of red, and a white substance coming from the opening in his leg. In instinct he leaned down and attempted to lick his wound, but that simply caused more harm then good. A shooting pain went up and down his leg and caused him to snarl. The skin around the opening was red and inflamed. Laying back down he stared straight ahead, not seeing anything. He closed his eyes for a moment in an attempt to forget of his predicament. Destin knew that if he closed his eyes, this would be it. The end of him. Opening his lids again, he pushed himself up and tried to stand on three legs. His back right limb and paw touched the ground in the effort and he howled in pain, which turned into a whimper and slowly died out. For a moment the world came back into focus and righted himself, just enough so Destin could hobble forward inch by inch. The world around him spun and he couldn't keep his balance. With a whimper he fell to the ground and laid there, his back right leg splayed out to the side. Destin simply waited there for the imminent to take him. This was an ultimatum. As he simply laid there, the male attempted to connect thoughts in his mind. All he could wrap his mind around was that he was bitten by a bear, and now he was here. The pain was unbearable and he wished he could just die already. There were only two thoughts he could connect: bear, and death. Bear equals death?

It awed the wolf that life continued on after such tragedies. The ache in his chest was a familiar one, for it felt the same when Hidden Tree and burnt to nothing, and the life of many of his family had been stolen from them. Disasters seemed impossible, but no more so then life continuing on as if nothing had happened. Not when his world had shifted upside down.

The bitter scent of blood flitted across his nostrils once more, and instinctively the male’s lips curled in to a quiet snarl. His hackles bristled furiously, and only for a disillusioned moment Ruiko thought it was Kinis’ spilt blood once more. Of course sense came flooding back to him, and as he inhaled once more, the male’s eyes found the light trail just before him.

Moving forward, his limbs propelled now only by curiosity rather than care, the stoical Leader came upon the other within minutes, if only because the wolf was far too injured to get ahead. Ruiko’s amber eyes swept over the fallen form, his eyes lingering callously upon the wounded limb. It was a nasty bite, but not one he recognized as a wolf who had never tangoed with a bear, nor bore any life threatening injuries himself. Moving closer, the regal male nudged his nose against the other’s side, a grunt escaping his muzzle as he noted the scent was a rogue. “Get up,” he spoke, his tone with an edge of warning. “You’ll die if you stay here.” And yet, at the back of his mind, Ruiko briefly wondered why he cared. Kinis was gone – why should he care for this stranger who meant nothing to him? If all else, he would be able to see if Kanosak had learned anything.. or Nina’s talent at paw.

Volkan Aquila
Helloooo :] vulgar Volkan is vulgar, hope you don't mind. ._.
<blockquote>An odd yelp echoed in the otherwise quiet morning, wrought with pain that sounded unbearable. It immediately captured Volkan's attention. As a bright, blazing sun ascended slowly in the milky sky, the colorless wolf's pale eyes narrowed in the direction of the noise. It seemed to beg, pleading, ringing out from somewhere in the emerald woods nearby. She could not ignore it. A pack wolf, injured by an intruder? With swift, fluid movements and an uncanny feeling in the pit of her stomach, the female kept low to the ground as she set quickly off toward the Spring, the beginnings of adrenaline bubbling in her veins.

As she drew nearer the odor of canine blood permeated the fresh air. Like a knife, it stabbed into her consciousness, and her hackles rose instinctively. With a deep breath, Volkan stopped finally at the abundant line of trees bordering Secluded Spring. Like a statue, she remained carefully under the cover of leaves, peering mistrustfully through the shelter of her hideout. Two wolves— males, by the mix of scents in the air. Of course, one was unmistakable, and Volkan felt a small portion of her stress leave her. <i>Ruiko.</i> Ruiko spoke to the other, something out of earshot. The other male... she wasn't sure. He was the one on the ground, blood spilling from his gaping wound. No more hesitation— the female abandoned her hiding place, a few bounds carrying her to the males' side, a small woof issued to Ruiko to make her presence known. Icy eyes fell only briefly on her leader, to whom she knew the proper respectful gestures would just have to wait; instead she gave him a curt nod, the urgency in her stony face directed then to the wolf on the ground. He was a stranger, but if Ruiko gave a shit, Volkan would, too.

<i>Bloodwort. Fuck.</i> Was her instant thought, and she scoffed to herself at the irony: the best plant for healing this, she knew, wasn't located anywhere this far north. Her eyes were trained simply on the wound. An Aquila wolf was no stranger to injuries; the nervousness had left her, replaced with a calm clarity that allowed her mind to work. Elettra. What had she said— one of those stupid plants could stop bleeding. It was... <i>ugh,</i> it was hovering over her head. But Kanosak— "Kanosak," she started abruptly, gaze finding her leader again, a world of unspoken thoughts bursting at the seams of her expression; they still had not spoken since the meeting, but it would have to wait. "When he and I went to the Hollow, Elettra showed us something that would... stop bleeding," she continued, words slowed by the difficulty of her recollection as she stooped lower to inspect the wound. Too large for a wolf bite, it had to be the one thing big enough to leave a wound of this size.

"...Fucking bears," she drawled, eyes finding the ground as she tried in vain to remember what that herb had been called. She remembered a spicy smell, but... well, they needed Kano. Now.</blockquote>

(Sorry Destin's being kind of creepy in this one, and swearing is fine with me, Volkan :] Also I think I felt the way Destin is feeling after I took some Mucinex for a cold. It was an... interesting night. I'm picturing this like two wolves standing in front of him and his gaze is blurry and unsteady like in video games and stuff.)

Didn't everyone say that when you were about to die you saw a light? Destin saw his, big, beautiful and glowing. He heard a voice, one whom he had never heard before. It spoke to him, beckoning him towards the light. Destin stared at the angel from his laying point on the ground, slightly afraid. It was an immensely large male who seemed abrupt and blunt, telling him to get up or he would die. Wasn't he dead already, though? Were there multiple layers of death where if you didn't make it to one you would be demoted to the next lowest? Destin didn't think it worked that way but, then again, he had never died before. The male decided that the dead probably gave the best advice, since they were the ones who had already been through it all. <b>"Yes sir...."</b> he replied weakly, attempting to speak. His throat was parched from his previous efforts and so his voice came out like a tiny whisper, like the sound of leaves dragging across the ground on a crisp Fall day. In the far distance he heard a noise of paws approaching. It was if his sense of touch had been increased dramatically and he could feel every tremble of the ground. A female wolf suddenly appeared, though she looked more like a fox than a wolf.

Instead of a light halo that the male had, the female had magnificent wings of an angels, though they were gray and dusted with white. She stood magnificently next to the other canine, her blue eyes looking as striking as the male's golden. They were both blurry and the light was now close to blinding him. If his sense of touch was heightened, it dulled his sense of hearing. The female angel was speaking, though he could only hear the sounds coming from her jaws instead of words. The two angels blurred together like his surroundings and their fur. The female wolf came closer and Destin just smiled happily at her. She looked at his back right leg in concern. The male turned to look at her eyes and noticed that his wound still had not gone away. In heaven weren't your wounds supposed to disappear if you died? Nevertheless, the multicolored male stood up heavily and unbalanced, looking as if a tiny wind could blow him away. The world around him was a blur of colors and shapes as his eyes moved blearily back and forth and he wobbled precariously on his three good legs. His golden gaze returned to the male angel in front of him. His coat was all blurred together, but his golden eyes shone like the stars and there was a light around him kissing his frame. The male's eyes fascinated him, it was like there was a whole galaxy in their depths. Was this what heaven was like? Why was it so weird? These queer angels were definitely <b>not</b> in the stories his mother used to tell!

((I hope you don't mind me jumping in as healer, if needed you can ignore my post and/or I will delete it))

The day was a nice pleasant one, cool and not too hot for the female's liking. A pouch full of herbs looked almost attached to her mouth as she trotted through the clearing carefully looking around for any sign of herbs. The golden brown wolf rounded a corner and was overjoyed to see come willow bark and onion. With a small skip the female barreled forward and collected some of the onion and willow bark, her small nose wrinkling, as she placed it carefully into the small bag. With a smile she continued on through the forest as a small howl of pain brought her back to her attention. By the sounds of it, another wolf was gravely injured, possibly a packmate. With her heavy bag in the maw she ran as fast as her legs would take her, speed on her side.

The female whipped through the area quickly, knowing this part of Copper Rock Creek's terriotry from all the times she had come down here to gather herbs. Quickly as if by luck she arrived in the clearing where she saw two familiar wolves and another laying sprawled on the ground. Nina's attention immediately turned to the leg, puss oozed out of the bite that was getting swollen from a large bite. The smell of the bite was instant to the female's nose and she rushed over. Volkan and Ruiko were here, but she wasted no attention with them, not even bothering to show any sign of dominance. This wolf was injured and was probably going to become very sick if she didn't start helping the wolf. The wolf was male and she carefully put her pouch down sniffing the wound.

One of her ears curved sideways to face her two packmates as she asked immidiate questions, her voice for once, was strong and fierce, not quite as a bird's song, "What happened to him? Do any of you know how long ago this happened?" Her words were quick and brash as she pulled out some herbs from her bag, "I have to start working on this leg now if you want him to live." Checking over the herbs she pulled out she nodded counting them off in her head as she waited for her packmate's answers. Thyme, onion, willow bark, leaves, bark, and yarrow, that would be all she needed for the moment. She wouldn't start until she had the answer from her leader or Volkan, she didn't want to perform something that they didn't want her ot start, but even if they refused to help the wolf, she knew she would probably help him anyway, it was the respectable thing to do.

Sorry my response is a bit shorter. Trying to catch up everywhere. <3
Lightning -- It's very unlikely Nina is going to have a 'bag' or pouch.. Please try to keep everything realistic.. if you can explain a pouch she has that it natural and she didn't form in anyway, then go for it. :) Otherwise, I think we'll have to drop that idea. Sorry hun. <3

Volkan was the first to come across the pair, and Ruiko visibly relaxed in her presence. The darker she-wolf was trying to recall something Elettra had showed her and Kanosak while the regal wolf’s eyes never strayed from the injured male. Ruiko’s eyes flickered to the injured leg, his nose wrinkling in distaste at the scent it gave off; sickness. Bemused at the stranger’s answer, his eyes cast a quick glance to Volkan, his meaning very clear: it was likely there was little use or any help they could truly offer the wolf who had wound up so close to their doorstep.

As he was about to mention this, Nina, a recent subordinate came upon the scene. Swooping in like a mother would to her cubs, the tawny Leader side-stepped from the female, allowing her better access to the male. A sardonic snort escaped his jowls as she mentioned whether or not he wanted the wolf to live, and he blinked at his medicine wolf. If anything, he was pleased to have a knowledgeable wolf within his ranks. “No idea,” he simply murmured in return, his eyes falling back to the stranger’s leg. Clearing his throat, Ruiko lowered his voice, his eyes softening as they fell to Nina. “I don’t doubt your skills, Nina, but it may be a lost cause.” His tone was gentle, but the message behind them was clear: perhaps a quick death was the kindest thing they could offer the wolf.

Volkan Aquila
Hehe, this situation is one of the questions on my alignment quiz.
<blockquote>Volkan watched stoically as the stranger clambered to his feet with much difficulty. Staring, she held her breath, knowing that at any moment he might collapse again. But he held himself up for now, and so Volkan let her gaze leave him, straying briefly to Ruiko. The meaning in his gaze was all but lost on her, though she could sense his skepticism; she furrowed her brows, silently wondering what Ruiko wanted to, but would not, say aloud.

Before she could ask, the soft sound of padfalls came from behind her, and Volk snapped around to see Nina approaching. A slight sense of relief washed over her then, even though she hadn't yet witnessed Nina's healing prowess. As the healer drew nearer, the gray wolf turned her sights back to the injured male. Ruiko sidestepped to make room for Nina then, and Volkan complied, stepping to her left to allow the more experienced subordinate room to do her thing. And Nina was not wasting time. Her demeanor was different than Volkan had experienced during their last meeting; the demure, polite female demanded answers, a boldness in her voice that surprised the silver wolf.

Before Volkan could answer Nina's questions, Ruiko spoke to them quietly, and she lowered her eyes as thoughts began to whirl in her mind. Lost cause? Then why had Ruiko bothered in the first place? They were already <i>here</i>, and hell, the dude was <i>standing</i>. Icy eyes narrowed, she inhaled sharply, aware that what she was about to say had the potential to piss her leader off— but for what it was worth, she felt compelled to get it out there. "It's a bear bite," she told them at length, certainty in her voice. "Aquilas saw our fair share of 'em down South. It's a bitch, and we had a few wolves torn apart by 'em. But this... I know wolves who've recovered from bites like this," she concluded honestly. Well, partial lie there: she knew only <i>one</i> wolf who had survived a bear bite, her "mother." Yet even then, the pack had had healers, stockpiles of Bloodwort to draw from.

"—Nina," Volkan blurted, a new, perhaps naive hope in her eyes, astonished that she'd remembered. She looked urgently to face her leader, her gaze flickering between his fiery eyes and Nina's emeralds as she spoke. "We need to stop the bleeding, right? He's upright, he's not dead yet. If we can find something to stop the blood flowing—" she took a small breath, a new seriousness taking over her face. "I know he might not make it," she added in a hushed voice to her pack mate and leader, though aware the stranger might hear anyway, "But we're already here. We have Nina here to help. We... why shouldn't we at least try? What does he, what do you think?" Her final question was addressed to everyone, even the stranger himself. If he wanted to be left alone, then so be it.

But if anyone was going to go find herbs, they needed to go <i>now</i>. If Ruiko said no, his would have to be the final word. Volkan wasn't sure why she felt so strongly about this, about helping a complete stranger. It just felt <i>right</i>.</blockquote>

OOC: Ruiko the "bag" is made out of elk skin from a carass from an elk, sorry for not explaining that, I am usually good about explaining what it is.

The female's eyes roamed over the newcomer and the words that her leader spoke shocked her. She wasn't sure if it was a test or if the male was just mad. She had to bite back a reply for Volkan spoke, and the words the female spoke left the brown female in pride. She would help her recover this young male. She understood what Nina was talking about. The golden brown lady had to stop herswelf from snorting in amusement at what Volkan had said about bear bites but she knew she had to keep her mind on the task at hand.

"Yes, Volkan we need to stop the bleeding I have some herbs in my elk skin, but I don't have anything to fight the bleeding except maybe a herb or too. If it's okay with Ruiko I need you to go find me some cobwebs, moss, leaves, anything that can possibly stop bleeding, and I need it quickly," the female spoke in a brash tone her eyes roaming over the male, laying a soft paw on his forehead. The wolf was burning, badly and she would need to give him herbs soon. She gave a quick glance at her leader, waiting for his okay.

Soon another pair of eyes approached him and he looked at them in wonder. These were a brilliant emerald green which sparkled in the sunlight. Six pairs of eyes looked at him, golden, blue, and green. They turned away from him occasionally and looked at each other, but always their piercing gazes return to him. Their jaws were moving though he still could not understand what he was saying. The large male wolf's gaze looked down at his leg, and then back up at him. Destin desperately wanted to know what he was saying, but he was so tired. All he wanted to do was sleep now, but these wolves wouldn't let him. The male had told him to move but gave no further instruction, not that Destin would be able to understand them now anyway. The wolf with the grey wings looked at him as if wanting him to answer a question he couldn't remember being said. He looked at her curiously with golden eyes. What was he being expected to say? His <span class='word'>obtuse</span> mind and body was quickly becoming less responsive than ever before. Every couple of seconds another pain went through him and he let out a short yelp and then a whimper. Were these angels going to help him stop this? <b>"Please..."</b> he said, looking at the three wolves in turn. Could they understand what he was saying anyway, or was it simply guttural sounds?

Soon the male couldn't take it anymore, he laid back down on his side and simply stayed in that position. Destin attempted to give the large male angel some kind of apologetic look, for he couldn't even follow his instructions of moving. It was just too hard. Destin couldn't focus on one thing for long and his thoughts moved to different things rapidly. Once he thought of one thing the other subject was lost. His mind was clouded and all he could remember was the quick pain in his leg, which had lessened slightly now that he had laid down but still remained constant all the same. His life was in the hands of his angels now, if they were angels and he wasn't in heaven. Or maybe he was? Destin desperately tried to keep his golden eyes open, for he knew that if he fell asleep that it would be no use and his life would leave him.

His words had not been received well – not that he had ever thought they would have been. Both were insistant on helping the male – Volkan’s fierce desire to do so stirred surprise from the regal wolf, but when they both looked at him for permission, Ruiko’s shoulders shrugged and his muzzle dipped lightly in consent. If they wanted to place resources and time upon this wolf, he would not deny his pack mates such a thing; especially with such honor.

The male had not seemed to understand his words – his delirium was too much, and with a small plead, the stranger would soon lay back down, the pain clearly unbearable. Glancing to Nina, Ruiko paused a moment. “How can I help?” He wasn’t about to turn away and leave the two alone to help this stranger who had wound up on their doorstep – if his pack medic needed assistance, he would offer it, and as the pack cache’s were filled enough even with an unbirthed litter, they could sustain the extra addition for now.
