Sex: FemaleAs much as she loved it, adventure was wearing on her. As winter settled into it’s harshest months, she’d felt the effects. Her stomach rumbled uncomfortably almost constantly, and the small pieces of prey she was able to find did little to sate her. It allowed her to hover judge on the edge of hunger… surviving, but always wanting. Between that and the mixed bag of wolves she had met, she wasn’t entirely certain this adventuring was a good idea. She’d never tell her parents that they were right… but the thought lingered from time to time. A thought of turning her back and returning home. Would they even accept her back after what she had said to them? She knew she was partially to blame. She was stubborn minded, of that there was no doubt, and when she set her heart to something she never backed down… and in this case, she’d set her heart to proving her parents wrong. To proving that there was more to life than the pack she had been born into, especially when so many despised her or kept her at a distance because of who were parents were… every slight a member had against her parents in silence was echoed onto her… and to prove her strength, she was expected to handle it without their help. It hadn’t been… she froze as a large crack loomed out over the sky, her limbs splaying like they had during the frostquakes. No, no, not again. Her heart began to thump uncomfortably in her chest, her eyes closing though her limbs remained rigid. Moving would not get her away from the earth. The earth was at fault here. There was no escaping it’s wrath if it decided to swallow her whole… and so all she could do was stand there and pray to Malik that he would not take her this day… and to Zihnal that her luck might be with her. Ozark's own search had gone beyond just the outskirts of their territory and further east into the Heart of their world and deep within the thick Wildwood forest. She remembered passing through their place before on the way to the falls, thought didn't recall anything of particular interest. Tree, bush, more trees, dirt... Ozark took a deep breath, as though if she did she might catch the vaguest scent of salt on the breeze. Of course not. However, she did catch the scent of something else which peaked her interest: another wolf.
It did not particularly smell like one of their lost. Then again, it might not, after some being gone so long and there were those of her pack she didn't really know to well honestly. So, there was still hope. Had it been spring, the smell of blooming dogwood might have greeted her.
Just when she thought that she might bark out to the other as she came trotting through the forestry into her direction, she was instead caught off guard all the same. Her legs splayed, tailed out and rigid behind her and all the hairs on her body standing on end. Though they were not in the direct path of the avalanche, the rumbling of the earth and the screeching of birds as they took to flight was enough to let Ozark know she wasn't going to stick around long enough to find out if debris would come flying her way or not.
She began bolting away, heading back from the mountains and west once more. "Aye, lass! More your ass!" She was running into the other's direction and if she didn't get to moving, Ozark would graze her hard, hopefully enough to jolt her from her struck-stiff-state.
She remained still until the bone-chilling sound of another startled her, causing her head to snap in the woman’s direction, getting her feet moving as she began to run in some semblance of the same direction as the woman. Clearly, she knew something that Kiona did not if she was continue to charge about without any fear of what might happen to her. “What is it?” Despite the noise of the avalanche, it had not been in her direct field of vision… and so she’d assumed it to be more frostquakes. A shudder ran down her spine. “Please Zihnal.” She pleaded through bated breath as she moved forward. Her lungs protested, the cold weather causing light spasms as she moved. The birds flew away, and she was following after them as a result. Surely they knew the path to safety. She noted that they were out of the path, even if she could not see what had caused it. Perhaps the frostquakes to the west had been the same thing? It certainly seemed like an appealing idea. “What is going on?” She’d ask again as she ran, pushing her limbs to the limit for speed as her lungs continued to tighten, burning down her spine. Her tail curled, fur bristling along her spine as she moved, as if it would power her. Kiona Fire is catching |
