All Welcome, but I was hoping @Mirren, @Kite or @Vaeta maybe?

RE: There are an unusual number of foxes being sighted around Relic Lore.
- Afternoon, Sunny — 59° F/15° C

It was early afternoon. The sun stood high over the trees of The Thicket, casting its golden light down through the darkening leaves. While the dense canopy blocked out much of the light, plenty of rays still reached the forest floor, illuminating Secret Woodlands with a warm glow.

The light reflected in a sudden dart of flaming orange, rushing over the leaves on the ground, soon followed by a second, slightly larger flash of a similar hue. The two figures chased through the thicket on swift feet, jumping, bouncing and bending to make their way through the thick terrain. One, the smaller, was a fox, a sly devil clutching a fat mouse in its jaws; the other, could easily have been mistaken as the same, only her slightly larger stature, and a light gleaming in her copper eyes gave her away.

Aideen Smoke had been doing her duties, gathering herbs along the border, when she'd caught the scent of the thief. The little monster had dared to cross The Woodlands borders to steal from their cashes, and she was not gonna let it get away with it. Pushing herself into a sprint, she lowered her head further, snarling at the beast; "I'll get you thief!" She would show it what happened to those who stole from Secret Woodlands.

These pests had grown more and more common along the border, and as they grew in numbers, so to, did their nerve; Blasted little beasts, they need to be taught a lesson!

after threads with Ashanti!

Kite had seen from a distance.

She stretched slightly. Although the soreness was still present, her main issue was tearing the scabs. Kite was restless, and also a runner. It took all of her effort to not throw herself into a sprint immediately.

But ah, well, it had to be done. Kite would not allow some scabs and a bit of soreness to disable her from her duty of protecting the pack. Her role might have been a scout, but each wolf was dedicated to the territory and the lives growing within it. Kite moved headlong into a sprint, and she could feel her scab stretch... and one even open entirely. It wasn't grizzly, but it bled as she ran. Kite still kept on keeping on.

Foxes were a nuisance. They were bold beasts that Kite had sometimes seen in the Plains that had known they would ultimately die if they went too far deep into the territory. Such might very well be the fate of this ickle foxy, who had taken meat from their territory. Kite was personally offended by this; the meat was for the babes sustenance, not for the fox and its potential kin.

A sharp woof fell from Kite's lips. Aideen had a teammate. Kite had moved in from the left as Aideen came from the right. Inevitably they would meet. The fox had become their quarry, and its furs would make a delightful addition to Nina's den. It's tail, a plaything for the boys.

@Kite Blaah, sorry this took so long :/

She was gaining ground, but only slowly; her lithe size gave her an advantage over most wolves, but still, speed had never been her forte. Snarling wildly, she pushed harder, narrowed eyes focused on her prey; If I don't get it soon, it's gonna slip back into the wretched hole it came from! The rogue thought sped through her mind, making her growl deeply. But she was beginning to feel out of breath, her legs protesting at carrying her at such high velocity.

The orange fae had been so concentrated on the fox that she didn't notice the other woman until the low call reached her ears, then a breathy smile spread on her lips. Answering Kite with an appreciative noise of her own, Aideen didn't move her eyes from the target, but she jerked one ear sideways to get a better idea of the scout's position; YES! They were closing in on each side, there was no way it would get away now.

With a grunt, the slight healer lunged, snapping her jaws at the beast's tail. Her teeth clasped around the open air, with an unsatisfying snap, a snarling swear falling from her dark lips. She was running out, her muscles screaming for her to stop. Despite the fatigue she attempted another pounce, stretching out her forelegs a she leapt at the pest; Almost, almost... Come on! She willed herself to reach farther, but in the end it was no good, she wasn't fast enough.

With a thud she landed in the bramble, legs giving in under her weight. She was done. Collapsing in the underbrush, Aideen finally turned her head to look at her ally, copper eyes fallowing the tawny form as she continued to chase the intruder; "Get it!" She called in between gasps, half an order, half a cheer; they couldn't let it get away.
