<blockquote>Life. Life was many things. Exciting. Monotonous. Random. Life was everything to the black wolf as he sat high upon the mountains, looking down upon his pack lands. The Lost Lake that separated their home from the rest of the world looked alien from his height. The sky above was an ugly grey. That morning, when the ebony beast had begun his climb to the top the weather had been warm, pleasant, inviting and he had found exploring the peaks and dips of the mountains that protected his home had been not only energizing, but interesting too. sisyhR was forever learning, searching for now discoveries and <i>things</i> in general. Exploring a new area was as exciting to him to this day as it had been as a pup. The higher he climbed, the more tricky the terrain, the more fun it had been. He’d been so interested in the terrain as it changed with each new altitude that he hadn’t noticed the impending grey clouds which invaded the sky. It was only when he reached a peak, as high as he could climb though not the top that he turned to look back at his homelands below. Above his pack lands loomed the shadow of a storm and whilst he was enjoying the views from this vantage point he had to think about getting home before that storm hit the mountains.

Satisfied with the view he had gotten from his few minutes of looking down, he began to clamber back down the side of the mountain that he had travelled up by. It appeared some areas were easier to scale uphill then they were down. A few times the lanky beast almost toppled right over the edge of a narrow ridge or drop. The trek back home was taking longer than he had planned and as he reached the half way point back down the mountain, the storm hit.

Violent winds lashed at his skinny body, tearing at his dark fur. His eyes narrowed, trying to keep the icy rain from hitting him and skewing his vision as he continued to travel home across the rocky terrain. If the rain and wind wasn’t enough, a boom of thunder echoed in the skies above him but seemed to amplify as it bounced from wall to wall of the mountain. There wasn’t a break from the onslaught as a bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, landing here and there. It was a violent storm, one to terrify pups. He only hoped his own pack and female had taken shelter when they first saw the signs he had ignored. Not usually one to defy his own logic, he had put his ignorance of the weather down to a variety of things, his mood, recent events and just wanting time to be alone. The further away he had travelled from his pack the more alone he felt and he had enjoyed that feeling whilst it lasted. Now as he ran across a flat ridge he could only think himself a moron for ignoring his own instincts once again. It seemed his body was never in sync, he could only work with logic or instinct, they wouldn’t work together at all.

As another clash of thunder and lightning hit the land around him, he could do nothing but hope he made it back home in one piece and be grateful that he would hopefully avoid the predators who roamed these mountains... no one else would be stupid enough to get caught in this, right?

AND YOU COULD HAVE IT ALL.
MY EMPIRE OF DIRT
I WILL LET YOU DOWN. I WILL MAKE YOU HURT.

<blockquote><font style='margin-left:20px;'>When one was lost and unsure of where to begin looking, one could come to the rational conclusion that being able to scope out the land, it would prove helpful. Rational as that conclusion is, Victarion must have been damned daft to seek out the high point of the mountain on such a day, in such weather. His tundra-thick pelt surely provided some aid against the blisteringly cold winds, but his eyes winced at the onslaught of freezing rain. He did not fear the storm, nor did he worry about making it down the mountain alive. It was all about chance now, if he made it out alive, he made it out alive. If not? It must have been his time. Victarion had learned at a young age to never fear death or the unknown, but of course, he was a lone wolf without responsibilities--that surely made it easier on him. The storm was, more or less, a severe agitation for him, something he wanted to scream at and physically attack, but simply couldn't. As if to read his mind, the storm's winds picked up and nearly knocked him off balance, to spite his anger.</font>

<font style='margin-left:20px;'>Had his little trip up the mountain been helpful? Well, for starters, he now knew how large the area was, as well as several notable landmarks. Nonetheless, it had been a magnificent view to behold, from a ledge up the mountain, but as he stumbled on wet rocks, he began to wonder if it had really been worth it. It hadn't been, of course, as he verbally cursed himself and the weather, running half-blind down the side of the mountain. Half-blind and half-deaf, the booming thunder preventing him from hearing anything coherently, he nearly ran into a large, black shadow in his path. He couldn't be sure of who saw who first.</font>

<font style='margin-left:20px;'>He scuffed the bottoms of his paws, as he came to an abrupt halt, eyes wide in spite of the sting from the rain. Victarion was unsure if he should growl and go on the defensive, or apologize and greet the poor bastard in the same predicament as he was. In the end, he chose a mediated approach and warily took a few steps back. "<b>I didn't see you there.</b>" He had to shout to be heard over top of the storm, it wasn't quite an apology, but Victarion felt it was explanation enough. For all he knew the other beast would simply flee from him and the storm, and never think twice of the whole incident--or maybe they could come to a mutual understanding and help one another. Tilting his head to the side, he considered the other wolf through scrutinizing eyes, "<b>Is there no where on the mountain for shelter?</b>" He finally shouted, hoping for a helpful, if not positive answer.

He kept a tense stance, yet unsure about this dark stranger. If he proved to be of unsavory character, well, Victarion would just have to protect himself. And it was a fine day for battle, in his opinion. A shiver shot through his body as he stood there, staring, the rain having soaked him down to the bone.</font>

Don’t fret! You have a lovely style. :)

<blockquote>With the wind raging and belting him from this way and that, he was almost disorientated. His clever mind was struggling to find something familiar. The land had grown so very dark and without the light from the moon it was harder to find the safe trails, especially when one ran at such a quick pace. He felt an utter fool, having allowed himself to get caught in such a way. He was so very clever, things like this simply didn’t happen to him and he should have known better. The storm had come out of nowhere, quickly and as powerful as any he had ever known. Being trapped out in it was a bad idea and the sooner he got home to the warmth and safety of his den, the better.

From no where before him, a large silver wolf blocked his path. He seemed just as surprised as Rhysis was to see another wolf trapped up here. The male was older then Rhysis, more bulked out then his own lanky form but still, not as tall. Rhysis would probably never know another wolf as tall as he was and something about that was unsettling. He just wasn’t normal in any way.
He saw the grey wolf’s mouth open and close, he was talking; no shouting but Rhysis could only catch parts of it. The storm was too loud to make sense of it. <i>See you. Mountain. Shelter.</i> He put together the wolf was after shelter from the storm, perhaps he had no place to run and hide as Rhysis had waiting for him. Unable to test his scents too much, the rain was too strong and blocked his nose with each inward breath- he would have to consider more about him later. With a glance over his shoulder, he searched the area around them. The walls seemed so vertical and bare. There was no shelter here... wait. Earlier that day, his explorations he had discovered a small cave buried into the rockside. If he could only remember exactly where it was.

His grey eyes met the grey... wait, grey eyes? Almost dumbfounded, the younger wolf met his own eye colour looking back at him. He’d never seen another wolf with grey eyes before, he had always thought it was something special about him. His eyes were a steel grey but flecked with ice blue, seen only in the moonlight. He had always thought his eyes special, but now he looked into a set of almost identically iris’s he felt a little common. Still, now was not the time for his vanity to emerge. He needed shelter. With a snort, he nodded once to the wolf and gestured in silence that he follow. <b>"This way."</b> he said with his southern accent.

Certain he had passed the cave a few levels down from where he stood. There had been nothing distinguishable about the area, but with his memory skills he wouldn’t forget the area when he saw it. Carefully, he moved past the silver male, ensuring their pelts did not meet and the scent of his pack would be transferred. Once behind him, he took up a steady but careful trot as his decent continued down the mountain side.
